More to the point, another Republican "transitioning" into private life in the Richardson tradition. Wonder what skeleton would have been uncovered?

Unfortunately, I think that is what keeps alot of good, willing people out of politics today. The scrutiny of the past. With todays standards of scrutiny, who wants it for themselves or their families. I love politics but cannot be involved because I know when they open my closet, they'll think that are at Emory Medical School.

Just as a note, the headline seems to place the blame on Gov Perdue "Perdue Backtracks" when according to Cole's letter, it was his decision to take out his name for consideration. So out of fairness to the Governor, shouldn't it say "Cole backtracks."

why not appoint someone to fill the seat that is not running for the office? and in line with this i think if someone resigns from an elected office, he or she should not be able to seek elected office for 4 years. karen should have finished her term. she lost my vote!

Did you read the reason why Karen Handel resigned? I admire her for doing so. Had she not resigned, you would have probably been the first to condemn her - I can hear it now, "Karen Handel is campaigning on the taxpayers dollar!" Watch, we will hear it about ole Oxendine
