Dr. Weill,
You have been and are a great asset to this community. You have changed the face of Gordon College in the best way possible during your tenure.
I a sad your retiring but happy your staying with us!
Thank you again for all you have done!
Happy Retirement!
Bill
The citizens of Barnesville and Lamar County as well as the alumni of the College must take every opportunity to express their opinions on who will be Dr. Weill's successor. Do not leave this important decision to the Board of Regents without providing your input. The faculty of the College would not support Chamberlin, but it seems that the Regents and the Chancellor do not listen to the faculty. They will listen to you. This change in leadership is critical for the College's future direction. What do you want Gordon College to look like in 20, 30, 50 years? If you don't speak up, you cannot complain about Dr. Weill's replacement or the course the College takes. SPEAK LOUDLY AND OFTEN!
I may be on the outside looking in but I still smell a rat. Nobody leaves a job paying that well in this day and time to become a teacher. I bet there is a 50K difference in this annual income from the two positions. There has to be another reason not being talked about. This is either political or he rubbed a few people in high places the wrong way. The best person to replace this guy would be Dr. Wheeler. He’s one of the best you could ever know then again nice guys never make it to the top. Chamberlin is too self absorbed to be the right person for this job and will most likely be the reason why he gets it.
50K! Get real. The difference is probably closer to 70 or 80K. As to a successor, it will most likely be someone from the outside. Chamberlin does not have the academic credentials to be a college president.
Dr. Weill has done an incredible job as President of Gordon College. The changes he has made were needed, and his dedication to the college and the community have been remarkable. What can be wrong with someone wanting to retire and enjoy life? Sure wish I could retire!
I’m sure this has nothing to do with money on anything like that. I suspect Dr. Weil wants to get back to his home in Kentucky where he owns a house and all his family lives. Dr. Weil has been a tremendous asset to our community and I wish him well in the future.
You are underestimating the salary of the president by about 50K and presidents of places like UGA and Tech and GA. State make 3or 4 0r 5 times that much or more.
