Sometimes we forget the beauty all around us, be it natural or man-made.
A week or so ago I was walking across the railroad tracks when I realized the amount of art and ingenuity involved in a simple rail car.
The crossroads

be the next ones in jail. It cost the company a lot of money to clean this mess up. If you had a car would you wont this beautiful crap on yours?
You should see a doctor about that...it ain't normal :)
At the same time, thank you for viewing my photos and being honest about your opinion of such behavior.
#3 - I wish there was a more legal way for street artists to display their work. Chances are, that would not happen for a number of reasons and graffiti developed out of 1960s street art so if given proper structure and staging actually wouldn't be graffiti any longer.
#6 - I am personally sorry that your assessment of kids is that they are either huffing paint or defacing private property. If you have kids, which of these categories does your fall in? If you do not, I hope you never do as neither is any better than the other; both destructive in their own right.
My purpose for photographing these spray paint displays is because they are so obvious in our community and because I respect them for what they are; illegal or not. And so you know #6, I actually would not be upset if my private vehicle were to be tagged by a collection of quality street artists.
You see, graffiti art is just that - an art form. The reasons, including aesthetic criteria, as to why it is an art form far outweigh the criticism of illegality, incoherence, and nonstandard presentation. In the eyes of American culture graffiti art overcomes these concerns and thereby can be considered as an art form.
Suppose that Leonardo, Monet, Picasso, or any of the recognized artisans of Western European culture were alive in the present day. Then, suppose that one of these famous artists decided to paint a masterpiece on the side of your house or on your front door or on a wall in your neighborhood. Would Picasso or Monet's markings be graffiti or art or vandalism or graffiti art?
Now, the kids who did this have some talent. Misguided, but still talented.
Thank you Mr. Odom for posting this. We can find beauty in many things if we choose to see.
someones private property (regardless of who they are) that is vandalism, period.
You can find beauty everywhere if you want,
but it is a fact this company is self insured. This puts labor cost to be added to the cargo it hauls which puts prices of things
out of the reach of some people. If you would like to build a wall and let them paint it, thats the ticket, not property of other people or a company trying to stay in business under this Democrat congress and President.
If we don't like it, is it still an art form?
I wonder this: if the railroads gave the young street artist permission to paint the cars, would tagging still be attractive to them?
The pics which are on the slideshow appear to be tagging which is territorial.
If given permission to put graffiti on the rail cars, you would probably see less tagging and more art.
Personally, I prefer to view this verbal vomit as a visible benchmark in the decline of our society. Perhaps when the author is paying to have this removed from his car windshield or house, he too will have a better grasp of what this "art" really signifies.
The author would have us believe he doesn't "condone" this activity, yet he expresses admiration of it. There is a dichotomy here that is difficult to understand. Or maybe it isn't so hard to understand at all.
This ridiculous "graffitti" does so much havoc for the Railroad, you can't see reporting marks, car numbers, bar codes are covered, not to mention how dangerous it is to be walking around, through, under and on this equipment.
Totally irresponsible article.
IT DOES COST MORE THAN IT'S WORTH
BESIDES IF THEY DO CLEAN THEM THEY WOULD ONLY PAINT IT AGAIN
