I agree with #3. I am glad Buice is recovering but he is no all star. There are many others who deserve this honor more than Joe.

I totally respect mr buice as a law enforcement officer but being injured in the line of duty now thats one of those things that can happen in a split second in this line of work just ask any law enforcement officer thats ever had to deal with this kind of situation good luck joe .....

I voted for the helicopter pilot because he has served our country,been shot at as well and has saved numerous lives while risking his own in a helicopter.

You are mistaken. The link provided by Walter has "nominee-detail", the voting button on the nominee page has "vote".

Don't make false accusations about things you don't know much about. So many think that just because they own a computer, that makes them an expert on the internet. Learn a bit of HTML, it's not hard.

Again, I'm glad Buice is recovering. I am also glad he is not our sheriff anymore. He treated people like dirt, fellow law officers, the public and those in trouble (and no I was not in trouble). Other agencies would not work with him. He couldn't rent out space to house prisoners from other counties. There are meth dealers in LC jail right now that he wouldn't touch. I did not say couldn't touch. Half of the cases he did touch couldn't be prosecuted because he didn't play by the rules. He missed that "honesty and integrity" thing by a country mile. He was no all-star.

I knew it was gonna get deleted. I have posted up stuff about that a couple of weeks ago and it never made it. Wonder why. The truth is the truth. I dont know what rule the HG has in place that the statement violated.

There was one thing that i agreed with that Joe pushed. That was the case of a local business owner that had possesion of a stolen peice of equipment. Joe was outraged when the case was dismissed. That just goes to show you how the good ole boy system works here in Barnesville hick town. The tractor WAS stolen and he knew it. They put false stickers on it for it to be misleading and when it was stolen/taken from his possesion they informed all of us NOT TO CALL THE POLICE. I will place my hand on the Bible on that one. They gave us a couple of people to call if we spotted it and that was it. This judicial system around here sucks.
Im with Joe 100% on that one. He had this business owner nailed down and his plan exploded because money talks and BS walks.

Mr. Bell was a true all-star. He dedicated his life to the kids. I loved him all through school and when my kids were in HS. Kids will respect a good person who is there for them. The student handbook is a poor replacement for a human being with a heart.

i didnt see where it said he was getting anything because he got shot. his past GOOD RECORD is why he is up for this award.he deserves THIS and MUCH MUCH MORE.joe is a good man and i am behind him 100%.

After having lived through past sheriffs and Joe, I voted for Joe with no hesitation.

Now if our DA was up, I would have no hesitation deciding on that one.

Murder for hire plot was a joke. Mack English was just running his trap as he always did and for soaking up bullets. It doesnt take a hero to do that. If you want to give the man an award for being a possum police, go right ahead. I think I will vote for an american Soldier injured in the line of duty.

Im not 100% about that. I know that the piece of equipment was across from the sheriffs office when it was taken to the best of my knowledge.

Yeah, the HG is picking and choosing what they post. I commented on this article, refrained from using any profane of defamatory language, and because my position was "anti-Joe Buice" my comment was never posted. I can't recall the HG ever editing, redacting or removing posts before Joe Buice got shot, but by golly, now you just about have to pay for an ad to say anything not blatantly pro-Joe Buice. I'm starting to wonder what Joe has on a person or persons at the HG, of if those same individuals are just so anti-Waller that they can't help themselves? I say to the HG, if you're not going to report in an un-biased way, at least let people have their say on the blog.

An officer does not have to have a warrant to answer a 911 call, use some sense before you post.

I love how a lot of people come on here and talk loads of B.S. and hide behind the names of Anonymous. I think these boards need to go back to being registered accounts only. Buice may not have been a great sheriff in the county, but the county will never be happy regardless of who is in office. He has more balls than over half of you guys by doing a job most of you don't want to do or have the cuts to do...maybe your past criminal record prevents some of you from doing. If you don't want to vote for him that's fine, then don't vote for him. Nobody else really cares to hear the rest of your views or why you think he was or wasn't a bad fit for the county. It's a great award to recognize people who put their life on the line everyday that go unrecognized as where soldiers are finally being respected for what they do I think law enforcement officers need to finally starting getting their thanks as well.

Trey you have no room to talk because any body can hide behind the name Trey that doesn't mean it's your real name so why not put your last name with it until then you are anon in my book.Also the same goes to you about your views nobody really cares to hear them so keep them to yourself.I do agree that it's time for law enforcement to get the honor and recognition they deserve but not to someone just because you like him.What about the poor guy who lost his life just this week in Chattahoochie Hills in the line of duty?Don't you think he paid a big enough price and should be honored before someone who is liked by a few?F Y I I have walked the blue line and worked it for many years so yes I do have balls and always will.

Joe Buice is no different from any other law enforcement officer that goes out everyday to protect people...I'm glad he is doing better but this award and the golf tournament is taking it a little too....far...

You people need to stop judging Joe. We’re not here to judge no one. What happen to the people that believe in God? You suppose to love, care about each and everyone no matter what that person has done. I admit we don’t like a lot of things in life, but nothing perfect. This man didn’t deserve to be shot no matter what he has done. God has been with him all the way. So he must be doing something right. He took an oath to help people good or bad. The fund raisers and award is to help him and his family. The ad was posted here to let people know that wants to help. Not a place to say how much you dislike people. God bless!

Actually, in a way, we are here to judge joe, as this article is a solicitation for votes on a hero status, which we would have to use our judgement to determine such.

Me, I haven't observed anything hero worthy from him, so I voted for someone else, but you may wish to do differently. I will refrain from stating other relevant facts as to why I won't vote for him, because it obviously won't make it past moderation here, for whatever reason.

The Lamar County investigator McBride was nominated the way I understand it from either his wife or a personal friend. He has done nothing outside of his normal job that he should be doing and should never of been nominated. His family and friends voted him because he told them some beefed up story about how he solved the murder case etc. when the truth was many people were involved and the puzzle was already put togather all he had to do was work with his supervisor and other officers(McBride has no investigator experiance) and connect the dots it was a real easy case. His family just got excited because he was involved in a murder case and nominated him. Now McBride is a good guy and we appreciate the job he and others do in law enforcement but his wife and family was wrong in nominating him for this award. I can not stand Joe Buice on a personal level. But he probably deserved to atleast be nominated. McBride, now that is a joke.

Joe is no ALL STAR. He was just doing his job. There have been many other police officers get hurt in the line of duty or even lose their lives by doing truly heroic things and they never get this type of recognition. Give a real Hero the honor just doing your job doesn't make you a hero.
