Greenco hearing looms Feb. 25

With the fate of its continued operation possibly hanging on a magistrate court hearing set for February 25, officials from Greenco Environmental will take their case to the public next Monday.

Tim and Melia Lesko, principals of the troubled composting operation, will host a public forum at 6:30 p.m. February 22 at the Barnesville Civic Center.

When we lived in Cobb County, a company had a similar scheme, which turned into a disaster. The odor could be found amost anywhere on the west side of the county. The citizens demanded it be scrapped, which it was.
Maybe the is the same fate for this group.

When the weather is nice and we want to open windows, too often the stench from that plant permeates our house. We are forced to use the central air conditioning and bear the high cost of the electricity when we should be comfortable with open windows. There have been days on end when the odor was sickening. We are hoping that the operation will shut down. For a long time, we thought that the odor was coming from the landfill and wondered why because it had not been the case for years. After we made a few calls to the landfill to complain about the odor, we learned about the composting plant. When I talked to Mr. Lesko about the problem, he was polite and sympathetic but that didn't fix the problem. The people around here that own land and pay taxes should be able to live and breath without all the pollution from that composting plant!

And when you get through watching that, watch a little Glen Beck for a good laugh. Then listen to a little Rush. I'm sure Rush is really a great guy, it's just the "hillbilly herion" talking. Then catch a little CPAC. Wonder why Bainer has to wait untill his re-election to be that different guy he promises to be? He could go ahead and start now. I mean, he is already getting paid to work. Let's watch McCain backtrack on his "don't ask, don't tell" stand. I'd rather watch him backtrack on the veterans issues he's always voting against. Then let's go see Sarah speak and wink. That should really give us a thrill, if "real Americans" could only afford a ticket. And don't forget grandpa Cheney with his five deferments, he fills me with pride. And new knowledge. Before Cheney I foolishly assumed you had to have a heart to have a heart attack. Silly me.

I feel so sorry for the Lesko's and the people of this area, but there isn't much anyone can do about how things work. No matter how much we pretend certain things don't happen we can't change how things actually work.

When things rot or decompose, they smell. That's why it is called compost, which is short for aerobic decomposition.

When fuels with carbon (like trees, wood, oil, or coal) burn, they all give off carbon compounds. The same amount of carbon dioxide and other stuff comes out for the same amount of energy, no way around it.

We seem to live in a community where our "leaders" are either stupid about how things work, or they are just pretending to be stupid about how things work.

That is an urban myth and email rumor. It has been debunked hundreds of times, like the birth certificate thing. Of course those who can't search or think might still believe it.

I will tell you that Jay Mathews and Nancy Thrash have been on this one. Finally, someone is standing up for the people! I live near the site too and I don't even have company over because I don't want them to know what we live in. I have talked to the owner too and he don't have any concern for the people, he wants to stay in business and make money. I want to know who approved this place to begin with.

false! everything on this video has never been proven wrong. just about everything has actually been proven true. you just don't want to believe any of it and you don't want anyone else to believe it so you try and make attempts cast doubt. face it. this is the type of person you elected and is obviously the type of person you are to.

We just returned home from our Sunday evening church service to find that the composting plant is in full bloom again. The odor is repulsive! Maybe the people who operate that plant would like to come and visit. We need relief, praying that the court will find in the favor of the tax payers in thie area and put a stop to this. We own and pay taxes on 69 acres here and we are sick of the odor from the composting plant.

I know how you feel because my neighbor spreads chicken crap on his fields. For days you cannot go outside and it even comes in thru the air conditioning so it stinks up your whole house. It make you wanna throw up.

Stop waiting for someone else to come to the rescue and file a lawsuit against the company for nusience and for making the family ill.

That's a great idea and dpending on the outcome of the upcoming hearing, that's exactly what we will do. We fully intend to fight back.
