Barnesville-Lamar County honored multiple award winners at the annual chamber of commerce awards night banquet at the civic center.

The winners are:

Citizen(s) of the Year: Karen and Hayward Cox

Businessperson(s) of the Year: Freida and Bill Ham

Volunteer of the Year: John Bittner

Farmer of the Year: Andy Bush

Career Woman of the Year: Thelma Dumas

Law Enforcement Officer of the Year: Lt. Maggie Moreland

Firefighter of the Year: Jack Doss

STAR Student: Laura West

STAR Teacher: Jane Mitchell

The business persons of the year Freida and Bill Ham. Own NAPA "Ham's Auto Parts"

I am not sure if it is Ham or Hamm?

I like that NAPA store. I buy as much as I can there because they are not as rude as some of the Autozone store people are.

congrats to Lt Moreland. She beat out a darn good opponent in Lt Baines. Either of these women would have been a great choice.

All the guys at Napa are great, and that guy with the beard across the street at the bait place is a hoot..Barnesville is the best place.

John is an all around great guy who moved to Lamar County about 5 years ago. He's been heavily involved with the school system ,chamber, and he also was the one who showed the movies downtown. I'm sure he's on other committee, but these are the one's I know of. He sales trager grills and cooks food on them for school fund raisers and other events. He gives a lot of time to our committee and I for one am thankful for all he does.

He's also just an all-around nice guy. He and Julie Ann Knott cook up and cater parties as well, some of the best food you will ever have the pleasure to eat.
And they have a wine-tasting business going, I'm just trying to think of an excuse to have some type of event so they can bring on the wine!
