Summoned to success by President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress approved historic legislation Sunday night extending health care to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and cracking down on insurance company abuses, a climactic chapter in the century-long quest for near universal coverage.

Last year I paid almost $5000 out of pocket for medical expenses. My personal policy costs about $7000 or so. That's about $12,000 a year. If I changed providers any preexisting conditions I have been treated for would not be covered.
Most, or if not most nearly most, personal bankruptcies in the USA are tied to medical expenses. The cost has been going up far faster than wages or inflation.
It is time we tried to do something different. the system is a mess and no one wants to do anything about it except leave it as is.

The Column is titled "Fear Strikes Out"
Become an educated American do not endorse fear and hate. Americans deserve the same rights as any other Country.
None of you people were complaining when George W Bush attacked the wrong country, sending us into a war that cost us trillions just to kill a bunch of people that had nothing to do with 9-11. Where you at then?
1.My taxes will double right away to pay for this bill.
2.4 years from now I will have to buy insurance that I can not afford or pay a $3500 a month fine.
3.My preexisting condition still will not be covered but I can get insurance now since they can not use that to deny me coverage. Since it does not cover my condition it still does not do me any good.
What will it do for you?
Does this post make little or no sense?
Ahh well, Mr Stupack calling himself Pro life doesn't make much sense to me either.
These are trying times indeed!!
Prohibit pre-existing condition exclusions for children in all new plans;
Provide immediate access to insurance for uninsured Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition through a temporary high-risk pool;
Prohibit dropping people from coverage when they get sick in all individual plans;
Lower seniors' prescription drug prices by beginning to close the donut hole;
Offer tax credits to small businesses to purchase coverage;
Eliminate lifetime limits and restrictive annual limits on benefits in all plans;
Require plans to cover an enrollee's dependent children until age 26;
Require new plans to cover preventive services and immunizations without cost-sharing;
Ensure consumers have access to an effective internal and external appeals process to appeal new insurance plan decisions;
Require premium rebates to enrollees from insurers with high administrative expenditures and require public disclosure of the percent of premiums applied to overhead costs.
By enacting these provisions right away, and others over time, we will be able to lower costs for everyone and give all Americans and small businesses more control over their health care choices.
But now there is hope. People in America will get a fighting chance to be able to go to the doctor..hard working people without insurance.
And the people were heard. A news commentator pointed out last night that "the people" put the democratic majority in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and put a democrat in the White House.
I watched them do their job sunday night. Without fear. I must admit I was impressed.
If you find Hussein's birth certificate send it back. Please also let his illegal immigrant Auntie jump with you.
But you come back digger dooley, you're American.
If you agree that people should not get refunds that pay no tax - drop a line to your congressperson in the House and Senate.
Share the wealth. I'm tired of paying so someone else can get a refund.
The only CHANGE I see happening is our country going down the socialist road.
