Lamar County recorded its second homicide in 70 days Jan. 30 when a 28-year-old Grove Street man allegedly shot and killed a neighbor.

We had heard a rumor that Mr. Smith thought Mr. Adams had called DFACS on the Smiths, and the murder was in retaliation.
Also to all those who are in defense of Mr. Smith, how do you explain the murder weapon being in his house? Just askin.......

Even if Mr Adams had called DFACS on the Smith's that in no way is cause to take another s life.If in fact DFACS was called then maybe there were some safety issues pertaining to the children in that home.Is this how we as a society have resorted to solving issues.THERE IS NEVER JUSTIFICATION short of defending one's personal safety that warrants taking another life.I'm thinking the authorities have their man and the evidence to bring him to trial.I certainly hope that his wife will use this as an opportunity to give their children a better life so that this kind of thing doesn't keep repeating itself.God sends us opportunities to go a different direction Mrs Smith let this be yours...your children will thank you later...May God Bless and keep you..!!!

They are saying now that Graves' neighbor shot him because he thought (didn't know but thought) Graves had called DFACS on him because of problems he was having with his kids. What an idiot! What was he thinking, "Hey I don't want DFACS to think I'm a bad parent...so I'll become a murderer..." Yea that ought to help him out. And Graves pays the price.

What am I missing here? You are referring to someone named Graves, who is that? Please enlighten.

Graves is his middle name and is the name he was known as by his friends.

His full name was Charles Graves Adams. He was born in Thomaston. His father was a fireman who died of a heart attack while fighting a fire. After high school Graves and his mom moved to Zebulon. During the seventys he was the light man and roadie for the band Orion. After he and Ivy seperated he lived in Lamar county until his death. He was well liked by his old friends and his tragic death was uncalled for. What ever happened to an old fashioned fist fight. Smith might have thought he wouldnt come out so good. Graves would go out of his way to avoid a fight but if backed into a corner he would give a good account of him. So, if Smith is the actual murderer he deserves the death penalty. Lethal injection is too good for this piece of shit and he deserves the same death he gave our friend. I do feel sorry for his wife and children. As for his baby moma maybe she needs to change herself.
