Of course not. The cop has a right to store his weapon as insecurely has he wants in his own home. And children should be packing at an early age...its their constitutional right.

The father made a tragic mistake, and he knows he will pay for this the rest of his life. Think of the child, and don't kneejerk react to this. You do not know what happened any more than the rest.

Children are pretty resourceful when it comes to getting to things, so there is no telling how the child came into contact with the firearm. I'm just glad to hear the girl is doing well. And hey, at least the parents were home to respond to this. We've seen worse articles before.

if it was a black officer it would've been some bull**** about him now since they was white they are treated like they don't know what happened. the father is a man of the law he should've known to have that f***** gun put up somewhere a f***** glock 40 do you know what that could've done to her if he would've shot her in the chest or head. so the next time somethin happens wit a black person don't descriminate
