Jammie West did what they say he did -- purposely douse his daughter with gasoline and light her on fire -- then it says as much about the state of Georgia as it does him.

I wonder if the Parole Board had to pick a member of the board to complete the sentence of a criminal who committed such a terrible crime. I will believe, alot of these releases will not happen.
there are some jails that make inmates pay a dollar a day to stay there... i don't know if any prisons do it. but, the inmates coming out of those jails have to pay it back. if they got money on their books while they were in there part of that goes to their bill first. if they don't pay it back and get something as small as a traffic violation, they can be put back in jail for lack of payment. the jail i'm referring to is in virginia... and i can't say it's an all together bad idea. i don't think jail/prison should be free... 3 meals a day, cable, scrabble, card games, a roof over their head, clothes to wear, a place to workout and play sports, etc... i have to pay for that stuff and i'm a law abiding citizen... only seems fair to make them pay for it too, even if it is only a dollar a day...
It is illegal to force someone to pay to be in jail, or to pay for medical needs, food, etc.
Ask the (former) judge in Crawford County that tried that.
Many early releases are granted for economic reasons; the state does not enough money budgeted to keep them inside & nobody wants to pay higher taxes to provide the funding
It may be illegal, but a simple vote could make it legal, and it's something I am 100% in support of. Something like this would get a YES vote from me, that's for sure!
This man had multiple arrests for Violent crimes. MULTIPLE is the big word here. Why would you release someone who is known to be violent?
I see some of you whining. Oh its wrong to make someone pay for their stay in jail. blah blah blah. They have jobs that they can do in jail and give them a few dollars a day. Literally a few to cover the cost of their stay. If they were in the free world they would have to pay bills or live with someone who is paying. They could do a job to work off their debt for their stay in the prison.
Either have inmates do some work for the system and help pay for their keep or bill them when they get out so we can keep these violent offenders off of the streets. Because, when violent offenders are released early especially when they have multiple violent crimes to their record only increases the amount of danger to the law abiding public.
Law abiding citizens should be outraged at the early release of violent offenders.
I say bring back the chain gangs! Let them work on the side of the road for their punishment. Take away the priviledges that they have! They are there as punishment not for a vacation. Why should the taxpayers have to pay the county workers to do a job that should be done by prisoners. Stop making life so easy for them while they are there then maybe they would not keep committing the crimes. This man should be treated the same way that he did his daughter make him suffer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scar him for life as I am sure his daughter will be. If not physically but emotionally.
