From the Muslm American Society....

On May 18, Muslim American Society Freedom (MASF) joined the ACLU and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) along with other plaintiffs in filing a lawsuit in the US District Court of Arizona challenging Arizona's new law requiring police to demand "papers" from people they stop who they suspect are not authorized to be in the US.

MASF is a civic and civil rights advocacy division of the Muslim American Society, America's largest Muslim grassroot organization.

Screw them and their mosque. They dont deserve anything. But, leave it up to Obama and the liberals, they will have their mosque wherever they want it. It doesnt matter how what majority of Americans want or feel. The Arizona law was voted in by the majority. Why is this law so wrong? This world country has gone to hell.

Wow. I will be SICK if they erect a Muslim monument at the WTC site. I'm not a religious person. I don't care about Christianity, Muslims, Jewish, Hinduism, none of that matters to me. However, the symbolism that would be present for them to erect such a monument would be disgraceful for all americans, regardless of beliefs. The basis of a monument paying tribute to the religion that was the basics of causing the attacks is sickening. I'm tired of the American government bowing down to the Muslim nation because they are afraid of retaliation. New York, or the federal government, better not cave to this sickening and degrading request.

The Muslims and the Mexicans I would assume dont like the law, because they have to be accountable for their being in our country.
I dont have difficulty with that. I identify myself, when asked to by law enforcement, et al. Whats the big deal, unless you are not being honest about what you are doing?

The mosque in NYC is intended to be symbolic to the muslim world. They see it as a great victory against America. You have to think why the MASF would join the lawsuit in Arizona. It is an area where illigals enter the US almost at will. Islamic terrorists could also also be using it as an entry.There is also a media propaganda campaign going on for both the muslims and illigals, when will America wake up?

How about if they came to your house and asked to see your papers?..sounds like 1930's Germany to me. Dont go anywhere without your papers.
The big deal is that we are trading our liberties for temporary security. Ben Franklin would have lots to say about that. Soldiers that died for our freedom and liberty would have something to say about that.

The law specifies that they can only ask for papers if the individual has been caught in a crime. Most illegals are caught because they drive without licenses, which is a crime. Which means now if they do not show a valid drivers license, the officer can demand to see papers proving they are a legal citizen. THAT is fair.

For you to imply it means officers can knock on someones door demanding papers is ridiculous! The new law doesn't give them that authority. Have you even read the text of the bill? If not, don't base your knowledge on anything you "hear" or "read", base it on what the bill actually states in the documents filed that makes it lawful.

The bill can be found online, just try googling it.

Exactly. I think the title of the article is a bit misleading. They are NOT building a mosque on Ground Zero. They want to build a mosque near it to promote Muslim awareness. Which wouldn't be a bad thing based on the comments and the slant that this article has.

Wasn't America a country founded on religious freedom? People Islam is a non-violent faith. There are extreme radicals in every religious group. Does the name Tim McVeigh ring a bell? Or those nuts from Westboro Baptist Church?

I didn't see the section of the bill that said the State Law Enforcement would come to your house and ask for your papers. Could you tell me where in S.B. 1070 that is? Given the amount of lies about this bill propogated by the White House, it is no wonder that ordinary people like yourself would be here misrepresenting what the new Arizona law is about. The bill is virtually identical to a law that is already a Federal Law. We haven't seen Federal Officers profiling any race of people because of the Federal Law. Why do you assume that there will be misbehavior under the state law?

The violence of the drug cartels have lead to this. You tackle that by tackling the war on drugs. It has failed America. Everyone is an addict of some sort, whether it be an addiction to pretty women, addiction to shopping, addiction to nerve pills, or alcohol. We have got to start treating the issues that have created the mess instead of covering the symptoms. That requires a lot of people who care about others and their welfare and WANT to help build people back up. The world is so busy fighting each other and laying blame...what ever happened to a common goal of helping others? But, I do know that if I were in Arizona, I would be scared of all of the drug violence seeping over into the state and I would be pressuring someone there to do something. I guess this is their way of tackling the problem but I can't even begin to imagine how it will effect a child when a government comes in and rips the family from everything they've ever known because the father was SUSPECTED of a crime. Someone has to address the real issues and it's going to take money and people will complain about giving their tax money to slow some sort of survival of the fittest race.

The the government would enforce the immigration laws already on the books and do away with the amnesty for people with "Anchor Babies" then Arizona wouldn't have to resort to making a state law that mirrors the current federal law. Several people don't realize that when someone asks for a birth certificate they are looking at your proof of citizenship and I present mine whenever needed and I do the same for my children when its needed. However I am against people sneaking across the border and not paying taxes and taking advantage of social programs designed to help our citizens.

As for the mosque the only reason the Muslim community is to outrage Americans. They should want in one hand and poo in the other and see which one fills up first when it comes to the Mosque.

Wonder if Pakistan and Iraq would allow us Americans to build a church in their city? I agree with the Arizona law. I think that the Government should step up to the plate and make it Nation wide! We all carry some type of ID. Whats the big deal?

If they came to my house and asked for my papers, I would give them what I have. Were you present in the 30's when the claim of this being done? I doubt it. You are repeating what you have read in a book, or a newspaper article, and havent researched to origin of the allegation.

Under Arizona law, if you have a valid driver's license, then you are presumed to be a legal resident/citizen. No other form of ID is necessary.

I'm not happy about the idea of a Mosque anywhere at this point, but I realize that my emotions are involved in my answer. I'm still Pi##ed about 9/11.
By the way, I was in Arizona last weekend. Let me assure you that the planes are flying into Sky Harbor full to the brim, and Arizona is doing just fine, thank you very much.
Let's all remember, a popular southern Arizona rancher was killed on his own property by illegal immigrants. That's what started this.

The Islamic community like all other mainstream theologies is being manipulated by outside economic and political influences to do their dirty work for them. Muslims are only 25% of the Islamic community. It’s like calling all Christians Catholic. Lamar County is particularly ignorant when it comes to world religion. Of all the belief systems established in Lamar County there is not one that is not Christian Protestant. The voice of unawareness of other ways of life grows weary on those who do know better.
Even this article is to manipulate those uninformed to push their own agenda.
Interesting enough on the subject of immigration, the multitude of times that I was abroad I was required to show my passport when performing even the most common transitions like getting a hotel room, so why not when I would be in violation of their laws? I do agree that Arizona is just using local law enforcement to do what the department of Immigration hasn’t the resources to do themselves.

Remember a couple of years ago when the state said you had to present photo id when voting and how one select group was outraged at this.If you are not doing anything wrong or hiding something why not present id. It was the same group that we had so many problems in the last election with voting fraud

If anyone knows anything about the Islamic faith they are building that mosque to make it a holy place.. Once they do that they will claim the city and or Manhattan as a holy land and expect to be able to practice shiria law on our soil. Our government is too stupid to see that. Our constitution does say we have a right to religious freedom however granting them permission to build a mosque is granting them permission to bring their disgusting rituals here. In this country we do not allow beheadings, rape, children to be wed, and women to be bought or shot for making someone angry. We have law and they allow none of the above. Once they put that mosque in place you are either going to see those things happening on our soil without consequence or a all out war.. Very disturbing but if you read their holy book you will see the pattern and the mosque fits right in.. SAD SAD DAY FOR AMERICANS..
