#3 I like the idea of being a independent, but it has become the survival of our Republic. I have always been of independent mindset up till the last two elections. The old Bluedog Democrats and the Regan Democrats have come to their mindset of marching in lock-step with whatever their party tells them to vote for. This ment giving us laws that none----not a single solitary one of them bothered to read first. The public majority this time is 73% against the Healthcare debocle now on the books, thanks to the Democrats.
Ive said before and I will say it again---How can you back a person, that backs a party that wants more(a lot more) of your hard earned money(if you work or have worked for it), and to eliminate your 2nd amendment right period. If you back a Democrat, they may back, and probably will vote to take more of your wealth--even if you do not have it to give, such as a limited income. Makes no difference to them, just giveme.
Be on the look out for the politicans that change parties just to win a race. You really need to know how they voted in the past,or be perpared to get the same old song and dance. I would like to have someone that will be on the side of cutting to have a budget and not care if people can really aford the tax increase, especially when the economy is in the shape it is in due to that very idea-don't care if you can afford it or not
Remember that when you go vote-if you do, if you don't you get what you deserve,or deserve what you get.
I think Danny Turner would be good for the school board.
Most of the board members now have been there too long and are too set in their ways. Most of them are not willing to listen to the people that elect them and they feel they are untouchable. They are no different than state or federal elected politicians in that respect.
I am satisfied with the job being done by Commissioner Brown. It seems he is about the only person on the BOC that is not afraid to stand on his own two feet on close issues. I've called on him a few times and he has never failed to respond no matter how he personally felt about the subject being called on. He always wanted to hear the pros and cons from the people of his district of a coming matter and he has never been afraid to tell you how he felt about an issue, and most importantly, why.
I would also love to see the previous recreation director, John Gilbert get his name on the ballot for Lamar County Commission Chairman. He is an individual who I feel could really bring about a good change. He is knowledgeable of the many faults in the system and he is a proven and dedicated goal setter with the ability to achieve those goals.
Please tell me Ryran. how difficult is it for you to pat yourself on the back hoping others will follow suit.
It don't make any difference what party you attach yourself to. I think most of the people will take a look at the person now.
And if you're hooked on being elected by a party, well, I think this is the year of the independent.
