Pike County deputy coroner Harold Callaway has identified the victim in Friday afternoon's shooting on Reid Road in Pike County as Christopher Lee Chambley, 29, of a Brent Road address in the Redbone district of Lamar County.

Believe it or not, this is a person you're talking about. Just because his sins are not the same as yours, doesn't make you any better than him. He is not just a statistic, he is someone's husband, father, and son. Just think about the things that your loved ones could be doing behind your back that you are not aware of. If something like this were to happen to them, I don't think you'd want someone to make that comment about them. My prayers go out to his family.

I'm totally against the use of drugs. However, everyone needs to show some respect to the family. We all have family members that we do not always agree with what they do. However, we should not conduct ourselves in this manner and be considered as a intelligent individual.

I just think it is time for Larry Waller and his deputy's to quit worring about the interstate. they need to leave that to the Highway patrol and start looking in his own back yard.

Lets quit praying and thinking it will get better. We all need to get dealers and drugs out of our town!

Where have you been? Have you not seen all the folks being locked up lately? Just because there are duputies working the interstate does not mean other areas are not being worked. Some people can chew gum and walk at the same time. You need to pay attention to what is going on and take your tunnel vision goggles off! Stop and think, Why are Lamar drug manufactors using other counties? You need a hint, this county is being pro-active and not re-active!

Agree on the interstate thing, they are sitting on the interstate, while folks'es houses are getting robbed.

That is rediculous. There are 2 deputies assigned to the interstate area. There are plenty more deputies that patrol the county. Every county has their interstate enforcement team along with us. Clayton, Henry, Spalding, Butts, Monroe, Bibb, Byron, etc. All the way to Valdosta. There is nothing wrong with a county having one or two officers monitoring the interstate.
If you are that concearned about it, why dont you go to the sheriffs office and ask specifics on what all gets confinscated out there. You may be suprised. Its not a waste of time. Go ask and they will be happy to print up a paper for you showing in black and white how successful that has been.

Man this "get off the interstate" crap gets so old seeing it over and over again. The Sheriff's Office has about 25 certified deputies, 3 of the 30 are assigned to the interstate. 3! They are also part of the narcotics task force and assist the multi county narcotics team. They are on the interstate maybe 2-3 days out of the week. What more do you want? The only thing Waller needs to do is release the amount of drugs and money that has been seized off the interstate, then you'll know what kind of work they are actually doing out there. Of course, when you see the new fleet of patrol cars that will be purchased with zero tax dollars then maybe you can figure it out.

Please, tell everyone how much interstate Lamar county has. Ok, I will, LESS than HALF A MILE, and 2 full time deputies? And there are sometimes that many patrolling the entire county.

I do not know much about this guy except that yes he did have some problems as we all do. Each persons problem may not be the same as the others but we all have problems. I know he has a very sweet wife.
As for larry and his deputies I live in one of the not so good neighborhoods here and I believe that we have a pretty good bunch of deputies that do their job. I see them in my neighborhood doing their jobs all the time. The fact is they can not be everywhere at the same time does not mean Larry and his crew are not doing the intended job.....

Maybe you should know what you are talking about beofre you are so quick to bring up the Sheriff, regardless of who it is at the time. This actually occurred on Reid Road in PIKE County not Lamar. So Know your facts before commenting.

Chris was married to jessica and they have a very pretty baby girl together this was not a meth murder like people think right before he was shot re was being followed he was trying to lose the car that was following him thats why he turned on that road nothing to do with the meth house please show some respect for him and his family we all loved him he was a good person who has made mistakes but doesnt everyone so please before you post another nasty comment please know that his family may be reading this WE LOVE YOU CHRIS YOU WILL BE MISSED

If I was a betting person, I would say this had to do with drugs or money. In one way or another one of the two were involved. People just dont get murdered like this and it being personal without screwing someone out of something.
Its still not right either way. Dont get me wrong. Who ever done it should be give life without parole.

Chambley, it is a sad situation that someone lost their life and a family is mourning. With his past though, you have to step back and look at it a little different. People view that lifestyle as being a dangerous one and things like this likely to happen sometime. If he would have never been locked up before, it would be a little different.
Maybe he was cleaning himself up. I dont know. I would bet not, but i have no idea. He may have changed and was working with the police and someone found out. We will see later on but i dont think they would release that info anyway.

Honestly, I havnt read anything on here that was really disrespectful. Post 1 was just stating a fact.

1st of all...if you are being follwed and you are trying to lose them. I don't think it would be wise to take a dirt road. That would be sort of stupid. But I do not know what he was doing and from what I gather I really don't want to know. Yes it is sad that this lil girl is going to grow up not knowing her father. But did she really know him...I am not sure if they were back together or still apart. That doesn't matter..Anyways we will never know what happened Fri evening cause if they do get the ones involved. They will never tell the truth.

I feel that everyone needs to understand that he was a person and he had a family! I didnt know him but I think everyone has made mistakes in there life time and only one has the right to judge! I feel that only one has the right to take a life and if God didnt take it then no one else has that right! The only thing that matter is someone took someone life and no one has that right!!! I pray for the family and friend of this person and I pray for the policeman who are working on this case to catch the one who came in to our community and took someones life.

Regardless of one's past, NO ONE has the right to judge anyone. He was still a human being with a family! Everyone has something in their past they are not proud of and we should never judge someone for any reason including their past. I had a teacher once who taught me, Never assume anything, because it just makes an ass out of you and me...

YOU are a liar. Dont post stuff you have no idea about. Lamar county has 2.6 or 2.7 miles of interstate. To be more specific, the lamar line starts about 150yrds south of HWY36 bridge and ends just about the highfalls rd bridge (the 2nd highfalls rd not the first one)
