I, for one, was happy to read last week that the FBI has reopened the case against James William Lewis.
You may have never heard of Lewis but you deal with the fallout of his alleged crime on a daily basis.
Although he has never been charged with murder, Lewis is the prime suspect in the 1982 horror story in which seven people died after taking Tylenol capsules laced with cyanide. Tylenol packages had been tampered with in Chicago area stores which led to nationwide fear of death.

Alexa reports
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main/barnesville.com
this site traffic ranking as 1,286,860. Lower numbers indicate more traffic. Google has a traffic ranking of 1.
The dispatch is 15,192,918 traffic rank, 8% of barnesville.com volume.
I thought it would be closer.
While both websites have their prospective audiences and both websites do a fine job presenting the news in their own way, it is nice to know that our work is not overlooked in the community and that Barnesville readers have chosen us as their premiere local news source.
Barnesville.com has been around longer than BarnesvilleDispatch.com, so of course the age of a site also determines things.
Also, barnesville.com does not password protect its information, so this also determines things for rankings and traffic reports. Password protected areas are considered "non-existent information" since only those who have access can view the information. Rankings and reports are only for information that is viewable by all.
More traffic is not the only thing that counts. High quality traffic is much more valuable than "hits" or quick visits but one would have to see traffic statistics available only to the webmaster of each individual site to determine if the traffic is high-quality or not. That information is not open to the general public.
And those like me who are considered masters at SEO and web marketing knows that Alexa information is just a very very small slice to a very large pie. It is valuable, but not as valuable as some would think.
Thankfully we don't populate our site with information, news, or conversation simply to draw ratings and get "bragging rights." We do so to inform and provide a service for the Lamar County community.
Odom is not THE guy in charge of the website. He does a lot, yes, but all things related to the Herald-Gazette (including the website) can only be attributed to the entire team - good, bad, and otherwise. It is a great team to be a part of and I do hope that readers like yourself continue to appreciate our changes; be they seemingly slow.
