This event was one of the best things I have seen to honor veterans. There was talk about it being an annual event. I hope they make it one. There was over 80 WWII vets in attendance, and while their number is falling off every year, let's hope their memory never does.
On behalf of our BARNESVILLE REMEMBERS Committee, I would like to "thank" all the companies/sponsors, volunteers, program participants, and planners who made June 12th a special gift to these men and women of our Greatest Generation. This event was a tribute to all who served in WWII, ...those who came back, ...and for those who didn't, ...to those back home producing the many necessary war supplies, ...and, especially to those serving from our Lamar County and surrounding counties in defense of this country at that time.
It is wonderful to celebrate our history and victory of those in our military service that have provided to each of us our many freedoms enjoyed today. Also, thank God for the American Legion, the VFW, American Legion Auxillary, who support our many veterans today. Lastly, to the Patriot Guard Riders.
Thank you all,
Mark Stone
