i seen a lot of GSP officers in barnesville today is it because of the new law wow what a pitty thing to pull somebody over for instead of looking for speeders and murders
Insurance statistics have shown for some years now that cell phone usage is a factor in more accidents than drugs and alcohol are. Whether killed by someone with a gun, or by someone in a car talking on a cell phone, dead is dead. All laws need to be enforced and based on statistics, this is a good one to enforce.
I hope this is what they were out there for. To me, killing someone while texting is the same as murder. I'd rather see my child or grandchild come home with a ticket rather than losing them in an accident because of texting or talking on a phone. I will call *GSP if I see anyone texting while driving. I have followed people texting while driving and they were all over the road. I have met cars on my side of the road and I could see them texting or talking on the phone and I would have to run off the road to keep from hitting them or they would look up just in time to avoid hitting me. Just pray no-one close to you meets one of these on the road and doesn't look up from the phone in time to avoid an accident. People need to learn to be responsible. No text or phone call is worth losing a life over. The law needs to be enforced.
I've seen 2 cops in town texting today so this law doesn't mean anything. People will still text and not wear seat belts which I still don't use so if you die then it's just your time to go lol.
The pony express delivered letters so people could communicate. Then the telegraph appeared that sped up the communication process. Then the telephone came alone that improved the whole process except for being attached to the wall. Then the wireless phone for homes allowed you to relax anywhere in the house and communicate with your party. And everybody complained about not being able to get away from the phone.
Bang! The cell phone appears on the scene. Now rather than complain about not being able to get away from the phone - everywhere you go somebody has a cell phone stuck in their ear. Of course they can only remember what they need to say when they are driving a car.
Progress…. Enter one step ahead of the pony express. With all the technology to actually speak, people must go back (x) number of years and start communicating from a tiny keyboard. 5 minutes to type out what they could say in 5 seconds. Ignorance is bliss!
How can a cell phone cause an accident? Seriously. Her failure to yield or swerving was the cause, talking on the phone was a distraction.
Besides, "When a conservative doesn't like meat, he doesn't eat meat. When a liberal doesn't like meat, nobody can have meat" ...Stop trying to dictate to those of us who are perfectly capable of talking on the phone and driving.
What an idiotic thing to say "you are perfectly capable of talking on the phone while driving" just remember that while you are concentrating on the response you give or trying to remember what the answer is,then you are totally distracted and therefore not paying attention to the rules of the road and not being a defensive driver. You should pay attention to the road because some other idiot may have the same idea. You do not need to be on the phone all of the time the law should be enforced and if you get a ticket or have an accident while using a cell phone the the fine should be double what it is for other offences while driving. Wake up people and be a defensive driver instead of another statistic of ignorance of the law.
A person I know got in his vehicle started moving and answered a call frothe cell. He got distracted and pulled in front of a bib truck tarveling around 55 MPH.
That's how cell phones cause accidents. He would tell you himself except he is dead.
People who ask how just think they have the ability to think about driving and talking on a cell phone. They won't realize it's impossible until they are dead too.
The cell phone did not cause the accident. The cel phone was not operating the vehicle nor did it provide a vital function dealing it's operation. If the accident did occur like you stated, it was due to human factor. The drivers distraction may have been a contributing factor, but that could have been caused by a great number of things.
Do you also think that spoons and forks are responsible for making people fat?
Cell phone use is should be based on a person to person basis. I drive for a living and I talk on the phone. Granted, I have a blue tooth in to make it easier on me but I am good at what I do. Ive been driving for years and never had a wreck. Anything can happen to anyone at any time. I could blow out a steering tire on the intersate running 70mph with 115psi in it and its game on. Ive gotta ride it out til she stops. It doesnt matter if you are on a phone or not in cases like this.
Some people cant walk chew bubble gum at the same time. Professional truck drivers have been talking on the CB for years and years. Its no different than talking on a cell phone. You hear the conversation and respond to it.
Like I said. Each person is different. I personally have no issues what so ever driving and talking on my phone. I see people daily that cant do it.
Out of all the years ive been driving ive only had one person call in on me. Its their word against mine. They said my tires went over the center line whereas I say they may have touched it but not went over. Whooptie do. The woman was behind me and she was probably late and couldnt see around me and wanted to pass. That happens often. Just because you cant see around a big truck, dont be an idiot and pass them just to hit the brakes when you get around them. No wrecks, no tickets, nothing. Clean MVR.
Be safe. Look 1/4 mile ahead of you always scanning the area. Dont trust your mirrors turn your head and look briefly. Play through your mind what you would do if that car pulls out. Always have a gameplan.
Sorry! You are a dumb a**. You would argue with a rock on a chance it might say something back. I've learned one thing in life. Never aruge with an idiot. Idiot!
How do you separtate the responsible people from the idiots. Prime example in reply 6.1.1. To stupid to see that the cell phone was the contributing factor. Had the phone not been there, no call, no distraction, no death.
You can't reason or discuss anything with stupid people.
If people can't use something safely and responsibly, be it a cel phone, CD player, window adjustment, etc., then it can be an unsafe distraction.
And the food you eat makes you fat, not the spoon helping bring it to your mouth, but it takes intelligent people to remove emotion and see things in a factual nature, so I am sorry for pointing out the obvious.
Usually emotion based, as opposed to fact based, people attempt to end an argument in that manner.
Calm down, it will be ok. And I will be yapping away safely on my cell phone as I drive, like I have done for years. But I won't be texting, that is plain unsafe.
Obviously you have chosen to open your mouth and remove all doubt of your ignorance. Of course everyone can talk on a cell phone and drive, its kinda dummy proof. It's not rocket science for one to know that it's not humanly possible to talk and drive effectively. I'm also sure that it's not a problem with you as it's not with anyone else until....... yep you guessed, they have a wreck!
Whine all you want, continue to convince yourself YOU can drive just fine and talk on your cell while you drive. Fact remains over 6000 people were buried last year alone due to cell phone use while driving. I guess you are gonna continue to have no problem with it till it's your Mother, sibling or child... then of course something will need to be done.
6000 people out of 300,000,000 isnt bad. 3200 children choked and died from chewing gum. We can get all the statistics you want. Some people cant drive and talk. Fine, they dont need to. I can and I will. Im a professional. You dont question your dentist when you go see him, nor do you tell your doctor what he can and cant do. I'm a professional truck driver and I know what im doing.
University of Utah - Distraction from cell phone use while driving (hand held or hands free) extends a driver's reaction as much as having a blood alcohol concentration at the legal limit of .08 percent. Virginia Tech / NHSTA - The No.1 source of driver inattention is use of a wireless device. NHTSA / Insurance Institue for Highway Safety - Drivers that use cell phones are four times as likely to get into crashes serious enough to injure themselves. Carnegie Mellon - Driving while using a cell phone reduces the amount of brain activity associated with driving by 37 percent. Need more? Mark Twain once said that 'Statistics are lies, damned lies,' and sometimes I am inclined to agree. But please do not flatter yourself into believing that some of 'us people' are not educated enough to make our own, well-informed decisions.
To answer your question, I was hit by a teen girl talking on her cell phone. NO Its not the cell phone itself but the person behind the phone. She ran a stop sign talking to her friend and took her mind off the road a SECOND and bang into me so hard totaling out my car BUT the worst part about it WAS i was early stage pregnant with another child in the back in her car seat she was 4 years at the time. So the way she hit us by talking on the cell phone we were suppose to be dead. BUT GOD.

…….. Same to you!

Might as well, according to your ridiculous argument.

You voted for obama?
Calm down, it will be ok. And I will be yapping away safely on my cell phone as I drive, like I have done for years. But I won't be texting, that is plain unsafe.
Saying that is enough to get an a** kicking!
Do you think they should ban talking in a vehicle?
Yep, you were right, you have removed all doubt.
Trying to talk to someone and drive at the same time seems dangerous for some people.
