Its hurting the citizens. I hope they dont start cutting out deputies....too much crime in this county as it is. The BDP needs to hire more people....cut back somewhere else.
Too high. I'm sorry We could cut the paid sheriff jobs. Don't worry. You know Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Griffin, Thomaston, Jackson, Forsyth and Barnesville.
Um...what the heck? The old jail museum is actually taking funds from the county? Who in the world decided that something like that should be county funded at all? Somebody needs to get a real job and put that dog down. At least until this recession is over. I mean, it's a good thing and all, but dang, just open it for a week at Buggy Days or something and call it a day. LC is broke people.
I agree. What good is the museum if it's costing the county more money than it makes? We need to look into this. It's definately time for the county to cut any and all unnecessary spending. Who do we talk to about this?
some deputies are allowed to drive the patrol cars 50-75 miles one way on the tax payer dollar. that would be one place to cut the budget. define a maximum distance allowed for patrol car take home. that should save 50-60K a year.
If the SO wants to save some money i can tell them how to do it. have all the deputys slow down. i see them all the time going 80 to 90 MPH on 341. and they are not even going to a call.aren't they supposed to set an example anyway?
Do not forget about the commissioners meeting next Tuesday to raise taxes again on the battered property owners. I for one am tired of getting screwed when other people do not spend money and the gov. not cutting back enough to balance a budget without punishment being handed out to those that are lucky enough to own something.
The largest tax increase in the history of our country will take affect 1/01/2011 will affect each and every one of us---each man, woman, and child, and especially business owners. This tax increase comming the first of the year and tax increase on property owners, there will be a lot of us that will not be able to keep up with the demand for our money. This is not the way to attract new business that is so desperately needed in a small town.
Too many people want to keep up with the Joneses, and there is not enough money to keep up.
With photos (?). Make calculations of the work schedule, round trips made weekly, gas consumption, wear and tear on vehicles (milage), maintenance ect. and a pertty good estimate can be made.
Why the attitude? Are you a traveler on the tax dollar or just a concerned citizen?
How do you know they aren't going to a call? You have a scanner in your car? Just because they don't have their lights on doesn't mean they can't speed to a call. Georgia law permits it. With the shortness of deputies, try to figure out how they are supposed to respond to calls all over the county in a timely manner, but keep it at 55mph. But, I guess as long as none of that affects you it doesn't matter right?
no i dont have a scanner.i have seen them going that fast then pull into a store or go into the SO and i have seen them without anyone in the back then anyone can put 2+2 together.i have been around this county for a long time and i know what i am talking about.
When you are sitting at a red light and the light changes to green and they take off like a jack rabbit does then you see them pull into wendy's or sonic or a store or you are passed by them and they are going very fast, then you see them drinking coffee or what ever in the store doesn't that tell you there was NO CALL.
some (cops) use their personal vehicles to drive their kids around, also. I have seen a GPD car at the soccer fields several times parked for practices. Who is paying for the gas? I have to use my money to fund travel to take my kids to practices....
FACT: Obama budget proposal would raise rates only for individuals earning more than $200,000 per year, families earning more than $250,000.
FACT: Budget calls for dividend tax increase -- to 20 percent, not 39 -- only for individuals earning more than $200,000 per year, families earning more than $250,000.
I hope all property owners come to the next meeting. The last meeting was a lot of "special interest" folks who didn't want their pet budgets cut. Sorry folks, but the 4H and extension office can raise or charge fees for services. Why should all property owners pay for services only a few use? I would also like to see the budget and find out where our money is going. In the last 5 years the county's taxes has increased by $1.6 million, where is it going?
Say, can we get that guy from China back here? How about a junk yard? How about an abandoned cotton mill?
Someone...?
Anyone...?
...anyone at all?
