Sheriff Larry Waller has distributed a news release denying he or his deputies monitored grand jury proceedings during the Grier Smith deliberations in June.
The release follows in full:
Following allegations that the security camera in the Grand Jury Room was improperly used, an investigation was initiated on July 15, approximately two weeks ago.

I have been following the alligations that have came up about your present Sheriff, and I feel that if you have nothing nice to say about your former Sheriff Joe Buice (like we don't know who you are talking about) then maybe you should try to run for that office if you think you can run the SO any better.
It seems that in my opinion, that your present Sheriff is the one with all the drama following him, everytime I get the paper online,I see Sheriff Larry Waller's name in the paper and Mr Waller is the one that the crime alligations are being pointed too.
Before you point fingers at someone, Please make sure to check your own closet for the skeltons.

The only reason larry continues to be on this blog is the joe lovers cant get over the fact that he lost the election. They keep spreading all of these rumors trying to make larry look bad. But guess what, the rumors have proved false. Done out of jealously.
The Buggy Days Bomber- was turned over to the GBI as it should have. As well as the claims that a deputy under buice tied a flash bang to and inmates neck. Wow.Some things you just do an internal investigation on. Doesnt look like JB had control of his ever changing employees. Wasnt it like a 90% turnoover rate....cost lots of money to keep all those new hires trained.
At least larry isnt in the paper for loosing cases.
Anyway, the only drama about sheriff waller is OBVIOUSLY caused by frineds of the former sheriff, and most has been proven as nothing but rumors. So those of us who know the truth, will stand up for the current sheriff. The years of the supposed heroics and crap that has continue after the election is getting old.
If your keeping tabs on all of the aricles and what has been posted, you will see where the name bashing started. If the drama youre talking about is the smith case, that was handeled by the GBI. And you can read the articles for yourself. If you have brains, then you can take and educated guess as to who started that rumor.
So, Lamar County citizens, please think back to the last election, JB won the election, until abstentee ballets were counted. Sheriff Waller, if you feel you won the election fairly? Then produce the absenetee ballet votes, and let the county see how many votes really lived in the county and how votes were really breathing air.
The only person that had their toes stepped on was his own. I can assure you no one was scared of him. He not only treated his employees like shit while at work he also tried to control their personal lives. I think the most corrupt person out there wasn't let go till the very end of his regime...was his main man in fact. You know the one that just got off in court for the 2nd time.
Several deputies, for the love of the job, have been there since before buice was sheriff and are still there....so what great good ol boy corruption are you talking about?
As to who has started the rummors about larry...it doesnt take a genius to figure it out. Here you are accusing him of cheating in the election regarding absentee ballots..so who is starting rumors?
One of the biggest differences between past and present administrations is the cooperation between the SO and other agencies. It is good that they all work together now and know that they have each others back. That was non existant before. I can remember all of the open records acts that he tried to pull with the millner pd (which led to nothing) and also threatened a BPD officers job while throwing an amazing fit on the side of the road (by the way he was wrong as usual)...LAMO
I can go on and on and on but I let you stay in your fantasy land.
P.S. If you think i might by lying, take time to talk to those who had to work with him. Talk to other agencies. Find out if anyone was really scared of him. I hate it for the people in this town that have money cause lord knows ya'll must be part of the good ol boy system and if he gets re-elected yall going down...lol

Larry Waller continues to frequent this site because some of us have been around long enough to watch his machinations while in office and when he was defeated last time.
He barely squeaked in by only 90 votes from Milner. He lost everywhere else in Lamar county. Given the current trends, I suspect he'll lose again in 2012, provided his health doesn't fail and he leaves beforehand.
Personally, I don't care who else is sheriff as long as it is not Larry Waller. The county needs and deserves better. Waller is far from the only problem in county government, but he IS a problem.
Now, you can parrot the "Joe Lover" nonsense all you want. The facts are stated above. Ignore them if you like.
