It's a shame that the deputy dogs try to enforce the law and safety of the roads, but then you have the judges that will do a "favor" for the wrong.
There will always be someone driving through on our stretch of interstate who is doing something illegal. Tag lights, speeding. I have been pulled over in Lamar on the HWY for throwing a cigarette butt out of the window. He let me go after giving me a speech on littering. You can go after a million cases built on traffic violations and build a lot of DAs stats using pleas like this. That just reminds me of a rubber stamp court system that is dead at the wheels.
You know, there are a lot of area cases that could be slam dunks with a few smart, dedicated investigators who love their job. It seems that as soon as a department recognizes a smart one, they get shipped off to the narcotics task force.
I know the money from these stops help the tax payers and everyone loves that. There are other ways accomplish that while keeping officer resources available for other things such as local neighborhood patrols and community outreach.
For example, didn't Larry save Lamar money by selling extra food prepared by inmates to neighboring counties and by housing inmates for other counties for a fee?
Larry, you should invest in solar technology to power the jail and sell the extra power to the county. I am sure there is some way to get a grant for this right now.
