Ok so this is called Buggy Days for a reason because Barnesville was known for its buggies and as I was looking through the pictures I didnt see a single picture of a buggy much less a horse, all i saw was cars and kids I know you like to include them as well but you still should have took more pictures of horses as well.
you'd think that the snoots on thomaston st would have enough money to treat their yards for ants. i was taking a leak over there and got bit close to 10 times. they should be ashamed of themselves!
What? Do you mean all 5 of them? Im sure they were working their asses off. You forgot to add the crows nest crowd into your complaints. Between them and the drunk rednecks I personally dont know how they handeled it. You couldnt pay me a million dollars to be in their shoes.
Any reason why the police were not allowing candy to be given out or tossed onto the ground. I think its been like this for the last few years. How many of us really got hurt years ago by the tossing of candy. Seems like another way for the govnt to control more of our actions. It seems really stupid to me. I think they could have enforced more laws towards the drunk rednecks of Barnesville and ignorant children revving up their 4x4 trucks throughout the town.
A couple years ago in another city, some kid ran out to grab a tootsie roll and got trampled by an elephant. That's why they do not allow candy to be thrown during the parade.
So called "Officials" are so overreactive. Let the kids have fun like we did growing up. But please, throw the candy out into the crowd, not in the roadway.
And don't be dumb and run into the street with large animals and/or vehicles nearby.
75% of these comments are nothing but complaining about buggy days. Tim and others worked very hard to make this event happen and all most of you are doing is complaining. If you do not like the way things happen, then STAY HOME! If they tried to make everyone happy then buggy days would not happen. Yeah there are a few annoying things/people up town, SO WHAT! If I decided to voice it would it help???? Nope. So next year stay home. Thank you Tim for another great buggy days. =o)
You are exactly right. Tim and his volenteers work very hard to make Buggy Days happen and you should be thankful that there are individuals who care enough about Barnesville to make this such a great event every year.
there needs to be a handicapped parking area. i had parents come from N E georgia to see my granddaughter in the parade and they had a hard time trying to find a place for them to park. they both have to use scoters to get around so they had a trailer that they were towing.
they finally got a place at gordon college to park but then had to worry about their batteries going dead on them since they had such a long ways to go to get to town.
Next year it would be better to have a place closer to town for ALL persons that are in need of it

I grew up in Barnesville but moved away for 35 years. Occasionally I'd come down to visit relatives & attend Buggy Days but it was always too hot to enjoy it, so I quit going.
I am now living in Barnesville again. I was surprised that the event is still being held in Sept. w/frequent mid-90's weather. I would think that changing it to Oct. & having a combination Buggy Days/Fall Festival would be fun and bring more vendors and visitors, like me for instance, who didn't even consider going Saturday
I would come to it if it was in October....but until then I will sit in the house in the ac watching college football and have my funnel cake delivered!
The police aren't the ones keeping folks from throwing the candy to folks during the parade. The police can only enforce criminal law, not a rule, regulation or policy.
I was disappointed, I rode my horse in the parade this year, and that was the highlight of the weekend, not that many vendors, too hot, and over crowded with nothing for you to do and not much to look at!I'm afraid that Bugy Days will eventually fade out within the next few years if it continues like this...just like Anything Goes was cancelled..what's next, Buggy Days in it's entire! I hope not!
I'M NOT COMPLAINTING ABOUT BUGGY DAYS. BUT THE STAFF AND THE POLICE NEEDS TO COMMUNICATE. YOU INVITE OTHER SCHOOLS TO COME BUT YOU WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO STOP AND DO SHOWS. THESE ARE MARCHING BANDS NOT CONCERT BANDS.YOU TRY MARCHING STRAIGHT THROUGH.FROM GORDON COMPLEX, COLLEGE DRIVE, FORYSTH STREET,THOMASTON STREET, SPENCER STREET, AND TOCOLLEGE DRIVE AGAIN. SINCE WHEN DID THE ROUTE CHANGE TO SATISFY WHOM? BUT THOSE HORSE STOP! YOU HAVE MIXED COMPANY THERE AND EVERYONE LOVES MUSIC!!!!! IF THERE BE A NEXT TIME, PLEASE ALLOW THEM TO STOP OR DON'T INVITE. THEY ALREADY CATCH IT TO GET TRANSPORTATION BECAUSE BAND IS NOT A SPORT.
I thought it was great. The people were friendly, the events were fun, the booths had variety, and it wasn't raining. The people who put this thing on should be proud. Can't wait until next year. Is there a way to help out somewhere and who do you talk to?
We would love for people to help and give us suggestions on how we can make Buggy Days better. If you call the chamber, they will put you on the list to call when we have our rap up meeting.
I'd also like to volunteer to help Buggy Days out. WAY OUT! The music downtown Friday night lasted until about 12:30am. I know we have a noise ordinance in this town. Why not move the music thing back to the old Auction Barn out on 341? That way, the folks who live in town don't have to hear the crap all night.
Whoever decided to let the music last that long should be ashamed of themselves. It's just plain disrespectful to annoy tax payers for that long. It's ridiculous.
Im surprised that people in the parade werent passing out from dehydration. The route is way to long for 90+ degree weather. I think it would be great to hold it in October when it is cooler. More people would attend. May get better quality vendors then too.
This was my second Buggy Days and I am grateful to all the volunteers that helped put on this festival. It is a boast in out downtown economy and that is the bottom line in today's world. We need more not less, of this happening here in Barnesville. I am very proud of the job the Chamber Team did all week long. I am a Business Owner who enjoys the festivals here in town. They Do Not Hurt My Business on Cent. They Actually help it. I Have No Complaints. People need to embrace these festivals and get involved not run and hide.
Oh, my bad. It's hard to distinguish between the racket coming out of the speakers at the concert and the racket coming out of the speakers in the old hoopties. Either way, where were the police to shut it up? Just sayin.
And by the way, I know it was going on at least until 11:30 cause my neighbor called the Fire Dept to ask when they were gonna turn it off and they said they didn't know.
She's right! Ya know some people can't party at buggy days like the rich folks on Thomaston street and the constant booming of those stupid looking cars. Some of us have to go to work and try to make a living! I was up till 2A.m. and had to get up at 5! Police do your jobs!!!!!
IF THE GROUP AT THE ESTABLISHMENT ACROSS FROM GIANT MART WERE MADE TO MOVE FROM THEIR USUAL SPOT..BUGGY DAYS WOULD BE A HECK OF A LOT MORE ENJOYABLE.THEY ARE TOO ROWDY AND MAKE THIS TOWN LOOK TRASHY.
Ba - Hum - Bug Folks. Do you people really enjoy being so negative? You must all be a bunch of miserable folks.
Barnesville is a great town and Buggy Days has been around for 30+ years. We need to keep the tradition going and enjoy that our community works so hard to put this event on for us.
Buggy Days we love you and you are here to stay! Tim Turner and Chamber folks and all volunteers you do a great job and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
And don't even think about gettin out of your car at JR's. I'm afraid i'm gonna get violated or kidnapped by them gang bangers hangin out up there. won't let my wife and daughters go near the place.
it's a shame what pitiful excuses for men we got these days. why these fellers won't even get a job so's they can find britches that fit.
And don't be dumb and run into the street with large animals and/or vehicles nearby.
Problem solved.
they finally got a place at gordon college to park but then had to worry about their batteries going dead on them since they had such a long ways to go to get to town.

Buggy Days in it's day was top notch... it is becoming nothing more than a bad joke..
What?
