One of the odd facets of a strange political season has been conservatives’ insistence that the government shouldn’t lend assistance to struggling Americans who are out of work.

The corporation-fed GOP doesn't care about average Americans - that is the 95% of us who DON'T make $250,000 a year or more. But the GOP and their supporters are interested in a scared and broke public because they provide cheap labor and are great political fodder to whip up and blame the Obama administration for all their troubles.
The fact is the Bush administration ran-up the largest debt in the history of the world ... then the GOP blames this administration for trashing the economy. All the while obstructing virtually everything Mr. Obama has been trying to do then blaming him for not making a lot of progress.
Well, this is the big picture, but what about in our own neck of the woods?
I would like answers from local employers. Do you find that you dismiss an applicant who has been out of work, for whatever reason?
this clown in the white house now can do nothing but blame someone else for his failures.he is a complete watse.he did nothing before he was elected and has done nothing after.the only thing he has done is made america the laughing stock of the whole world.
he will go down in history as the worst president ever.
This is the perfect example of an argument that supports why we should not continue the Bush tax cuts. It is the top 1% which is the reason why we have over 14% unemployment. (Hello….savings and loan crisis..remember?) There is not a soul out there who could not fall victim to not being able to find a job for no fault of your own, unless you are already of that 1% that is financially independent. We all dream of acquiring wealth as a means to an end but the reality is it is a rare exception to the rule of fair play. This country is under threat not by a foreign force but by corporate greed that is squeezing the middle class out of existence.
Oh boy! Here we go again! Blame everyone else except the ones in charge.Government does'nt create jobs(except if your in a union or another wasteful gov. program)! Majority of these so called rich are small business owners and you have to deal with more taxes,a health plain that will create more problems, and the banks not making loans! Now, I am no way a fan of Bush but Obama has made a bad situaion worse! So Please Give that BLAME BUSH stuff a rest!
Alll the government incentives are not going to bring the jobs back to America because the companies have found that they can get the job done faster and cheaper in foreign countries than they can in America because the generation that is going into the workforce don't know what it is like to really work to make a check. They want big pay for less work.
When will this country wake up? Stop blindly fallowing party lines. The Democrats and Republicans are the reason this country is in the shape it's in. Couple that with corporate/union/special interest greed and there is our problem. We need to take our Government back from special interest groups and lobbyist. Whether it's Local,State or Federal, it is OUR Government. Check out the Libertarian party platform, you may be surprised. There are some things you may not agree with, but overall it is a good platform.
split the vote. vote libertarian helping democrats get elected. you dont remeber how clinton got elected!woking people we have to stick together or we will be suporting more deadbeats that care nothing about there cildren grandchildren much less there country as long as there check comes in the mail.
who do you people think hire folks?are ya'll so stupid to think poor people hire people?do you think middle class people hire folks?hell no.if you idiots would just think for a second and realize that when you tax business owners they just pass that on to the comsumers or cut staff.
poor people will keep doing the same stupid things that make them poor and rich people will keep doing what makes them rich.
An article here by Cynthia Tucker?? Are you serious??
Anyway, I agree with the common sense notion that we need to take care of our own before we try to go taking care of everyone elses problems and issues.
Split the vote??? LOL I was a republican, but no more. Tired of deciding between the lesser of two evils. If the republicans truly wish to earn my vote. They will need a better platform than "hey, let us screw you for a while" or "hey look how bad THEY are doing".
No one should fall for the "split the vote" tactic. Because both sides are losing voters to the Libertarians. If we get more votes this year, then we will exponentially grow. As more and more voters see that voting libertarian isn't wasting a vote.
Sounds like the banking and insurance system. You just prove your house is fireproof and you can acquire insurance. Prove to a bank that you have sufficient assets and you can get a loan.
The first problem our new president (Republican, Democrat or Libertarian...and it will not be obama) will need to do is have that printing press for money completely refurbished. obama has worn that sucker OUT! We probably should go ahead and convert it to produce yen.
