It’s homecoming week at Lamar County High School and activities, including a critical football game Friday night to cap the week, abound.

Huge game this Friday. We are the underdogs and will need a near perfect game to win this one. If we don't turn the ball over and our receivers catch the ball we might have a chance. I know our D will show up to play. I just hope our offense does as well.

I don't understand how SW is in a 3 way tie for the top with us and Putnam....

Me either. Looks like we are in a 2 way tie with Putnam. Doubt Pike will be a threat to the region. I think they are done for the season.

Because all 3 only have 1 region loss, I guess??? Since Putnam beat us, I would say they are 1st, we are 2nd and SW is 3rd. No matter what you call it, we need to win Friday!!!

Mathematicall they aren't. However, they have played one less region game than Putnam and Lamar because they have already had their open date. Lamar's is next week. Putnam's is at the end of the regular season. After that everyone will have played the same amount of games. SW is, however, considered tied for the top spot because they only have one loss as does Lamar and Putnam. Putnam holds the tie breaker and is considered the top seed team because they have beaten both Lamar and SW. A Trojan win over SW would give them the inside track to at least second in the region, barring a Putnam loss, and a home playoff game. Hope this helps.

Do these people not realize that where they are having the block party there is a neighborhood where small children and elderly live? Some people have to get some sleep cause they do have to make a living ya know? How can they do that if all that boom boom music is playing? Have some consideration!! Move it somewhere else next time, like the football field.

Putnam in first place in the region - they hold the tiebreaker over Lamar Co.
Lamar has to win one of the next two games against SW Macon and Greene Co. to avoid a tumble to 3rd or 4th place in the region.

If SW Macon - in third place right now because you cannot count games that have not been played
wins out and Putnam wins out they will finish 1st and 2nd in the Region.

If Greene also wins out.. that would make us fourth.

I would like to say that the future will one day be in the hands of our youth. PLEASE Lamar county raise your children right, support them, encourage them, and guide them in a positive manner. All I ever read on here is a bunch of negative things and complaining. To #4 A.S. - The students get one week to dress out of dress code, have fun, and participate in a supervised block party. It will not go on forever so let them enjoy. I think most of you are chickens because you never leave your names just ANON! Own up to your comments!!

A chance at what? It is a team you moron and they (the team and the twins) are doing fine. They run the plays that the coaches call. If you don't like it you do it better.

It's a a shame how little support the lcchs trojans recieve from the surrounding Barnvesvile citizens. Bad mouthing the twins, down grading Mr. and Mrs. Austin's children- it's a SHAME. Grown adults can't even own up to their own comments. The twins are doing a fabulous job and so is our team. If you don't like how we do our job then don't come watch us do it at all. On a good note , Let's go trojans ! :)

I do not know the boys as football players but I DO KNOW THIS,

They are good boys. It would not hurt some other kids at LCCHS to try a little respect.

I am A.S. And I have 2 children one of which goes 2 school thank u. And I understand that completly. But I have elderly neighbors who live next to me that are ill mind u. And I think it would be a better idea to move it 2 the football field next year because after all there is a quiet little nieghborhood that MY FAMILY live in that is directly across the street from the block party JENNIFER B. and whom ever else commented on what I said.

I am so proud to have the entire Austin family in our community. Let's first make it clear that I am not going to be on the school board after December so I have nothing to gain from my next few comments.
First, we have one of the best leaders for our high school in Mr. Austin. He is the shot in the arm we've needed there for quite some time, and I hope he stays for many more years.
Second, Mrs. Austin has already won the honor of Teacher of the Year and could quite possibly win it many times over during the next 20 or more years we want her here.
Their sons are fine young men and good examples of how involved parenting works.
Now for the doozy of a comment- When considering whether or not these boys should be starting on our football team, I want you to imagine how embarrassed you are going to be when they start during their first eligible year at a Division 1 school. These boys have natural talent that if worked with, has no limits. I can't wait to see them play for the next 15 years or so. Ryan Christopher

To whomever removed one of the comments above -- THANK YOU!!! Some of the other racial ones about the homecoming queen should be removed, as well. Some of this stuff that gets posted on here is pure garbage, and should be deleted, especially when it serves no reasonable purpose, but to hurt feeling and stir up animosity among folks.

The white girl should win, she by far looks better than all the rest in the photo. The voting is the wrong way when 95% of school is black. J. B. Would have had a field day with this and you would see a white and a black queen.

Why should comments concerning whites being the minority in a situation for a change be removed? Isn't that a bit of a double standard? Can only black people be a minority? If it were 3 white girls and 1 black girl don't you think someone would point that out real quick?

Please check the statistics for LC school. We are not 95% black. We are actually predominately white by a couple of percentage points!

I think it is in bad taste that Walter even allows such negative comments to be posted anyway. He feeds off the negativity and allows the community to batter each other when we should all be supporting our schools and communtiy when they need us the most!

When we graduated we has two nominee's Janice Combs and Lisa Ginn. It had to be well before that they had two queens. Anyway as I recall it was the student council who put and end to the seperation of color. If we did not have teachers such as D. T. Bell, Pete Reems, Mrs. Keys, Hester Land, just to name a few of the ones that were around to help make the changes, many of us would be bigots. These young ladies have to have a certian GPA,to be nominated by their classmates, and then elected by them. I hope that in the year 2010 things have changed; but that just seems like wishfull thinking in Barnsville Ga.
