Why is Southwest High School now listed in the Macon Telegraph as Southwest Academy? It seems Southwest played in a AAA status. What happened?

there is a southwest ga. academy that is from damascus ga. and plays in the gisa. southwest h.s. in macon used to be in aaa but has lost students and was reclassified to aa. back in the late 70s sw had around 4000 students and was a basketball powerhouse. the other possibility is that southwet is a magnet school and is called southwest magnet high scool and law academy. hope this helps.

Thanks Coach. The reason for the question was that this past saturday's football scores in the Macon Telegraph showed Lamar County defeated Southwest Academy 29 to 12.

Kudos for Mayor Peter Banks who I regularly see at Trojan football games, varsity, junior varsity and middle school. Can't say the same about many of our other community leaders. It's a shame these so-called dignitaries cannot make time to attend a game at Trojan Field and support these boys who are working so hard to give the community something to be proud of. It would go a long way in promoting school spirit, community pride and these people's political agendas if they were seen at perhaps the largest public gathering we have here.
