Two-year-old burned in accident at The Rock Ranch

A two-year-old boy suffered second and third degree burns when he fell backwards into a bonfire at The Rock Ranch Saturday.

The boy was lifeflighted to Grady Hospital after the incident and was resting comfortably there Monday evening, Jeff Manley of TRR reported.

me and my family was there and my husband had just spoke to the dad at the bathrooms and had spoke to their kids, they are a very nice family and it was an accident. prayer is what works and we should all just keep him and the family in our thoughts and prayers.

Wow...anyone who would let their 2 year old son stand THAT close to the fire needs to be slapped. Watch out...the fire's hot!

I am willing to bet you do not have any kids of your own! Anyone with kids know that accidents happen!! No parent would let their child get hurt on purpose!! So I think you and your comment are ignorant!! To the little boy that got burnt I hope you are ok!! To the parents keep your head up high and may god be with you threw this trying time in your life!!

One doesn't need children to realize the stupidity in this article. As a parent it is THEIR obligation to keep their kids safe. Accidents do happen but, what ever parent allows their TWO YEAR OLD CHILD a foot or so within a raging fire is.....retarded.

I have to agree, parents need to watch their kids, especially near an open fire.

This is exactly how stupid, overzealous rules and laws get made up. "Oh no, now nobody is allowed to be closer that 50 feet from an open flame" I'm serious, it happens, because folks don't use common sense.

True, accidents DO happen, BUT parents will still try to sue others whom aren't to blame, for "accidents" that could have been avoided with proper parental supervision.

Just watch and see.

The Rock Ranch does so many family oriented festivities, I admire that family. The parents are surely upset with themselves without additional ridicule from the public. Without a doubt in my mind, The Rock Ranch has already offered to pay all medical bills. I just know it. They are that kind of Christian family. I certainly hope the family does not take advantage of The Rock Ranch. People jump at the opportunity to file law suits. It was an accident that could have been prevented by closer parental attention. I pray for the little boy. I hope this does not cause The Rock Ranch to stop their festivities.

My heart aches for the parents and the child. This is truely terrible.
So whats the take of the highly religious community...Gods will or let me guess, He works in mysterious ways? You cant sit here and tell me an all seeing, all knowing powerful being that loved his creations would let things like this happen. Wake up and realize that you control your destiny! Ive watched familys who didnt have any money for themselves empty pockets into hundreds of offerings plates around this county to feed all these pointy top country clubs around here. It is sad to say the least! I would rather donate my money to help this family and similiar familys in need who would certainly need it at this time!

Bad things happen, that's the way it goes in this life. As a parent, I know that accidents happen, beyond my control. God as our Father knows that things are gonna happen because the devil attacks and works in this earth to steal, kill, and destroy. God does not do these things to people! However, He does know that it is going to happen and He already has a plan for when it does. It was NOT God's fault and it is not His will that anyone should hurt. He didn't cause pain and suffering and death to come into the world, the devil used his devices and man disobeyed God. THAT'S why bad things happen, not because it is God's will. The devil attacked and tried to take this boy's life, but God didn't let that happen. The family can be thankful that their child is still alive and going to recover. That's where you see God's hand.

Does that mean you know they paid the medical bills (which they are not responsible for) or you just think they did?

Sure is a lot of money for them to be putting out there for someone else's negligence.

Actually, it's not called brain-washing, it's called faith in a loving God who loves us despite the fact that in truth, we are all very unworthy of that love.

A loving God who does turn the bad of satan, into good, rather through miraculous healings (yes they still happen today) or through physicians and emergency care personel, or simply through good people.

God knows how to use the right person, at just the right time, to stop evil when satan attacks a persons family.

God gave us free-will, that's why accidents happen. Be glad we are not slaves made to do what God bids, but instead have been given a choice by God.

But God is there to hold His children when we stumble, just as a parent is there to hold their own child when the child is hurt.

Don't call it brain-washing, it's a heart thing, call it heart-washing instead. That's more appropriate, because God does know how to wash a heart clean, and it's a wonderful experience!

Thank you that was very well said.. Without the anger that the other poster(11.1) was trying to provoke. I will continue to pray that God will open the eyes of the unbelievers...Everyone continue to pray for this child and his family.. Praise the Lord for he is good.

I agree with 11.1.2. There are too many people today that say they are Christians that believe in God. What about being saved and actually having a relationship with God that moves you everyday to do good things. Where is that? Society has too many church doers and think they are high and mighty because they do so many church activites, but do they have a real relationship with the Lord to back that up? I tell you what, the Lord will test you on this. He will always give you what you need to get in check. Your path is predetermined by him and you can't change it. It is when you can have a deep realtionship with the Lord and serve your church that you should feel at peace that you are going to heaven. It is time for change towards people haveing a real relationship with God...so much that it should be brought back to the classroom. Prayers for a speedy recovery for this innocent child.

Just so you know, I have not posted anything on the post about the Thomaston teen. 'Anon' is short for 'Anonymous', and both are used by many. The one that posted there was not me. I would not post such a thing as that on a story as heartbreaking, especially when I have personally experienced similar within my family. I lost my sister to violence due to drugs. She was only a baby. It breaks my heart to see such and I would never disrespect the family so much as to say that their child, the one they lost, was a 'wannabe gangsta' and that's why they died. I truly send my condolences to this family.

No, actually. I was raised in the South, but my parents were not Christians and neither was I. I used to be an atheist and a Wiccan. I got saved just a few years ago and have truly experienced how God can change your life. I was beginning to do drugs, I was starting to drink, my family was a wreck, I was cutting myself, almost attempted suicide, and was broken, destitute, and alone. God changed that and gave me a new heart, a healed heart from all the hurt I had suffered. You can call it whatever you want, but I know that I am a different person and I couldn't do it alone. I tried and failed. When I let God do it, I was healed throughout and I realized through my own life the very things I posted previously.

And thank you, 11.1.1, you are so very right. It is a heart washing, a heart healing thing that only a loving and merciful God could provide.

I respectfully disagree with your comment shown above. John 3:16. That is the road to Heaven. With the volume of thievery, child molesting, and non-scrupulous tithe spending going on in many churches, praying to Jesus is probably a long distance call. I know many Deacons, while not in church. I usually pick up the booze for the "Deer Hunting Deacons" because they cannot be seen in a liquor store.

You put your money in a plate that is passed around "for some reason" I will buy a coat for the children that I see waiting for the bus at the trailer park down the road "shivering" from the cold in the mornings. Maybe they can enjoy it a few days before their parents trade the new coat for drugs. But there are a lot of coats for sale, and I will keep buying them as long as I can afford them.

Too bad, there are a lot of drugs for sale also, isn't it? And that seems to be the choice of many parents ahead of coats for their shivering children.
