Nope; how can you charge a deputy that was in fear for other peoples lives and possibly his own? He has a duty to protect people from idiots like this guy. The driver of the get away vehicle should absolutely be charged..... Not only was this driver fleeing from the scene of felony but was according to the report heading towards oncoming traffic (play chicken) which by the way the only way to do that is if both cars are participating this too is a felony. This is putting innocent lives in danger not only those in oncoming cars but in his own vehicle as well. The only way the deputy could ever be charged or should ever be charged is if he or she is found completely negligent which is definitely not the case here. Remember the guy in the back seat had the ability to stop this guy from running had he truly wanted him to stop....
This is no different than an armed robber or burglar running down the street pointing a handgun at people on the sidewalk and the police shooting and killing him. The only difference is the cars weighs a lot more than that bullet does. Great job Deputies!!!
Ok. If the driver had continued further down the road, he might have crashed into a minivan with a family of five. Or you. Or your family. Or neighbors. Those boys knew the risk they were taking. The deputy just did his job as he was told.
I'm sure the deputy will feel bad about his part in it for the rest of his life anyway; without people like you reminding him.
Really, No the deputy did not cause the driver to speed but instead did what he had to do to put a stop to this on going chase that could have involved more cars and other innoscent people getting hurt or killed. Thank God for the Deputies choosing a way to end it, before anyone else was hurt.
During a pit maneuver, the pursuing vehicle pulls up alongside a target vehicle and rides parallel. The pursuing vehicle's front tires should be roughly lined up with the target's rear tires. To execute the pit maneuver, the driver of the pursuing vehicle steers sharply into the side of the target, which causes the target vehicle to skid. The driver of the target vehicle loses control, and his vehicle is likely to either spin out or come to a stop.
A pit maneuver is most effective on dry roads that are clear of traffic and pedestrians. The presence of wet roads or bystanders make this move too dangerous in most instances. It is also helpful to have more than one pursuit vehicle involved, as the vehicle executing the pit maneuver will need time to recover control after the impact. Additional pursuit vehicles can deal with the suspects in the target car or assist with injuries if things go wrong.
The use of the pit maneuver is not taken lightly. Law enforcement must typically seek approval before employing this technique during a chase. Approval is typically only granted if the target vehicle presents an immediate danger to the public or its occupants. The pit maneuver works best at speeds close to 35 miles per hour (55 kph), and when vehicles are of a similar size and height. At higher speeds, alternative methods such as spike strips or tactical vehicle boxing are safer and more effective.
This is RIDICULOUS. I think they should put a few more details in here before you people go and start making assumptions. Murder? Really wow.... I mean damn maybe if the person would have crashed into other vehicles.. Were they riding on the wrong side of the road to AVOID HITTING THE PEOPLE IN FRONT of them... That kinda sound logical to me.. Im sure these boys didnt have a death wish.. & with the chicken game how many people ran off of the road? and how many other people were hurt? Don't you think if there were other people hurt they would have included that.... wow..
Wait a minute. Why weren't Waller's finest on the scene to help out? Since they are never around here to deter crime (see Magnum burglary event earlier), I thought they had I-75 covered.
Could it be they aren't even protecting I-75 very well either?
Excessive deadly force was used where none was called for! There was no felony committed for the "alleged" burglar to receive a death sentence at the hands of Nascar wannabe-hot- rodding-cowboy-deputy Beck and his sidekick Cpl. Duncan.
No "driver" murder charge is called for in this case. However, manslaughter charges should be brought against Beck and Duncan for their irresponsible actions. There is legal precedent to charge them for excessive deadly force when such force is not needed. Justice is needed in this case!
Deputy Chad Beck should be criminally charged as the person performing the PIT maneuver along with Cpl. Jarrad Duncan as the person authorizing said technique. It was a long chase from Rumble Road up I75 to Exit 201 East towards Jackson. Ample opportunities existed for the fleeing vehicle to be overtaken by the much higher powered police cruisers. "Spike Sticks" could have been employed to disable the "Death Car". Rolling roadblocks could have been used. Why no Lamar County or Butts County stationary roadblocks?
I travel this I75 and Hwy 36 "getaway route" frequently and the areas of missed opportunities to stop the vehicle do not fit the result of losing a life. The chase should have been called off for a misdemeanor offense since the vehicle identity was known and authorities up North I75 could have taken action.
It seems illogical high-speed chicken would be used by the fleeing driver after such a long chase. Why not drive Northbound on Southbound I75 in an attempt for the chase to be called off? I surmise the dash cams will reveal there was no "chicken" game. The pursuing deputies had failed in their attempts to stop the getaway car after a long chase. The deputies were frustrated and made a 'STOP THEM AT ALL COST' decision with the loss of a human life. Burglary is not a capital offense warranting a death sentence.
The GBI should take possession of ALL cruiser dash cams to ensure against any coverup.
Don't let these "deputy dawgs" escape JUSTICE! ..SUE...SUE...SUE!
how in the world if someone is driving and the person in the back seat is trying to get away , tell me how in the hell you going to make that person stop ??? any one ?? are you going to actually stop a guy if someone wanted you too. and before you anymore call names here calling these men idots rememeber these people have families be alittle more caring no matter what they did they didn't derseve to die.
What an idiotic comment! You are right, the chase was a long one from Rumble Road to Hwy 36. The CRIMINALS had plenty of time to stop and avoid being in this situation. It is THEIR fault - not the deputies!!! Pulling over and stopping would have ended the whole thing without loss of life.
Josey Wales..spit..spit..and anon, Y'LL sound like TWO of those idiots who regulary cut in front of my 18 wheeler while gabbing on your cell phone or eating or patting your honey on the thigh. Keep driving that way anon and Josey Baby and we will blog about you.Honk Honk!
The law dogs should have broke off the chase. No money was taken and no one was assaulted, shot or felony committed. No one had to die! The cops need to go to jail!
I suggest anyone interested to Google any search terms related to "cops sued over pit manuever" or "cops using deadly force when non needed in chase". There is a big payday for the grieving family of the dead driver if a wrongful death action is pursued.
With so much information missing, I find it strange the so called information about alleged chicken playing with on coming traffic stood out as written gospel. The CYA has started and overcharging begins to draw out a plea bargain for these ol North Georgia boys while the light go free.
I wouldn't believe the "chaser" cop over the "chasee" alleged burglar until a thorough investigation was made by independant agencies with GBI leading.
Too much "good old boy network" around here unless this death is investigated by outsiders.
well look if u rob stell or deal u know the only thang in life u have to look foward to is death or jail!!!and as far as the driver he should be charged with chris murder becuz u cant run from the cops u might get away for a lil while but not for ever!!!lets be real ppl..........................lesson to be to be taught dont be stuid kids grown up and get a 9 to 5.
we all know what to expect robbing or stealing right or wrong???and i love the guy in the back set but i cant make excuesses becuz he knew what he was getting him self in to.....but the deputies did the right thang by saveing the familys on the road that havent did ANYTHANG wrong!!!!!!!!!when u live like that you you'rself knoiw what is to come!!!death or jail for life its the same but you can alwas stop it befor it happiens IF IF and only if deep in side you want to!!!!!!!so theres whats on my mind.
These brave men did what they thought was right. We should thank them and all law enforcement for what they do to protect us. Those people in that car made the choice to commit a crime and then run.
Thanks to the officers for keeping us safe
Amen. What were these kids really doing? Robbing a bubble gum machine? Trying to steal change from an illegal poker machine? could they not just take the tag number. Its not they were armed and dangerous. they were kids..
#15 shame on you for wishing death on anyone. Yes the driver should be charged, because he chose to drive wrecklessly with other people in the car and endangering the lives of others who were doing nothing wrong. If you do the crime you should do the time it is just sad that the passengers who had no control over the driver had to give up their lives. #13 It is obvious you don't know how to spell if you are in college or even graduated from high school you should know how to use the keyboard on your computer. The computer also has spell check learn how to use it.
I do not understand the frequency of high speed chases. We have so many forms of instant communication, why is that not used instead of high speed chases? Innocent people could have been killed including the deputies. It makes no sense in most cases to give chase when they can be caught five miles down the road by a phone call to another deputy.
SERIOUSLY...are you insinuating that Deputy Beck, doing his job-which means protecting you, should be charged with a crime? Let's start chanting that idea & see how many qualified officers will come out & risk their lives day in & day out for what little they get paid...TO PROTECT AND SERVE.
So three guys commit burglary against an innocent business and we feel bad for the burglars? Am I reading these comments correctly? Has our society really come to that? Who cares if one of them died, I wish all of them were killed in the accident.
DAMN RIGHT THEY DO. Police officers are getting a little to big for their dang britches now a days & its getting old. how many times a day do I have to turn on the news and see something else one of them have done. Rape, Murder, stealing, using excessive force... etc etc etc... its getting old quick.
You are wrong. When the suspects chose to flee and approached speeds of 120 mph in traffic. Deadly force was justified. The suspects had ABILITY to cause harm with their vehicle using it as a weapon, OPPORTUNITY to injure many people on the highway, JEOPARDY when they continued towards innocent people on the highway and refused to stop.
Have you ever been a kid. I have and we all do crazy things we will pay for one day.You sould think it could have been your child. There are ways this could have been took care of. Not by death.
It is very sad that this young man had to die. I am confident that he knew right from wrong and should be punished for his part in the burglury but death is a very serious punishment The cops could have handled this differently. The police want respect but they will not get is this way.
Anyone know the condition of the others guys involved in the incident
Deadly force is not justified against someone running from the police. You need to research the law if you want to be correct in your statements. incorrect opinions being posted as fact, and blatant ignorance abounds here.
And charging the driver with murder is just plain overzealous.
well first of all if the police wouldnt have been chasing them at high rate of speed then this never would of happened. The police endangered the boys in this accident and other innocent lives. They could have just fell bac a little....I mean what could it of hurt?!? Now because of the police there is a life took. WTF
Thank you for that nice comment. You must be a real Christian. I know they are not perfect kids but didn't deserve to die. This hurts so bad and u should not judge anyone, u r not perfect Im sure! You sound like someone with no heart and no forgiveness and someone that does not know all info. Have a blessed day and I will pray for u now.
I am not saying they should not be pursued, jailed, tried and sentenced. I am just saying that innocent people, as well as, deputies should not be put in danger to get to them. Do you think these idiots would have cared if they killed you or a loved one in their rampant driving rage? They can be followed by a deputy in an unmarked car and shot too death for my part but the chases only put others in danger. Including the deputies giving chase and everyone else on the road in the vicinity of the chase.
Idiots do not have respect for the law, you can give up on that one. Blue lights received respect and caused fear in my youth, today it means a blue light special at Kmart.
So sad. Good deputies are grossly underpaid just like all Military Personnel.
And people do not deserve to be robbed. If someone breaks into my house and I get to them before they get to me "THEY WILL BE GRAVEYARD DEAD." The undertaker will only have one decision to make, "was it the doberman bites or the Glock that killed him."
The only thing I disagree with in your post is that the passengers did not have influence over the driver. C'mon, they were also on the way to jail for attempted burglary. Do you think they were saying, "slow down dude" or "punch it, the SOB is getting closer." The driver is guilty of manslaughter, speeding, trying to elude an officer, endangerment, attempted robbery,ETC.
"Chevrolet Equinox SUV with Lumpkin County (Dahlonega) plates."
BUT I still conclude with that much to go on, they could have been subdued in a safer style. If they could read Dahlonega 1/2 inch letters they could read the tag number 4 inch letters.
They are not hospitalized and as of right now no charges have been filed... Does this sound like a cover up? isn't it a little odd that these boys were ran off the road because the police were terrified that they were going to hurt people and because they SUPPOSEDLY burglarized a gas station but they have not been arrested yet? This WHOLE situation smells like rotten fish to me. Its really funny that people are posting things on here like they actually know whats going on! ha
Shame on you!!!!! What if one of your loved ones made a mistake and stole something from a store then get in the car as a passenger then a cop tries to pull the car over The driver deciedes to not pull over continueing on this high speed chase The passengers of this Vechicle are not pushing the gas and doing this they have no way of stopping the car. So they end up dieing from this when it was out of there hands. These passengers died from someone elses decisions.. not there on!!!! Now you imagine that passenger being your Brother, your sister, your nephew, your cousin, your child???? would you still think your family member deserved that?? I'm sure not!!! So Have some respect for there family and not your judgemental opions!!
"The driver deciedes to not pull over continueing on this high speed chase The passengers of this Vechicle are not pushing the gas and doing this they have no way of stopping the car."
EXACTLY! This is WHY the driver should be charged with murder.
At this point no one's opinions are needed. The point is the police used deadly force when it was not needed. How does ANYONE know what was going on in that car? How do you know if he wanted the car to stop or not. Im not saying that anyone deserved to die, but blame being put where blame is not needed is just plain stupid. Do you honestly think that the driver wanted any of this to happen Do you honestly deep in your heart believe that if he (the person that passed) was driving he would have stopped? That he would have cooperated with law enforcement? Do you believe that what the police officers did was right? There are RULES that police must follow and they were not followed. I'd be willing to bet that neither passenger said "dude just pull over so we can get arrested" :-/ Do you believe in your heart that he blames either of the other guys that were in the car?
Brian, I also loved the guy in the back seat Chris!!! What you said is wrong!! Chris was not driveing this car. He could not have stopped the driver from this.. And if you really new Chris you would no He would not have ran!! And also what kind of person he is!! We all have made mistakes or made bad choices in our lifes. But that does not mean WE should lose our life for that!! He made the choice to go to that store.. But he did not make the choice to go on a high speed chase in dangering his life!! That was out of his hands.. Email me back cause I would really like to know who you are??obviously not Chris's friend!!!
Yes I know the passenger his name is Chris!!! And yes I know he would have told that guy to stop!! Also if he was driving He would have stopped the car.. So you have no clue what your talking about!! Of course no one saus Hey dude pull over to get arrested you no that.. But people do say hey dude pull over I am not going to lose my life and get in even more trouble because of this!! Just because people make mistakes like going to that store to steal does not mean they are horrible people who would want lose there life.. there are ones who are smart enough to no to pull over like Chris!! I am sure you did something to break the law at least one time in your life.. What if after committed that crime you were in the car with some else driving and was pulled over and the driving keep going would you have said pull over.. I am sure you would have then so what makes you think just because you were not caught and and the same circumstances aplied to u that u were not driving at that time would you have not said anything that is pretty much what your saying!! Because you were not caught and put in that sitution!! Chris was and still is a wonderful person now in Heaven! So don't judge something you no nothing about

I know Chris and the other two also. I also know that the driver did not have any warrants for his arrest and the other two did. I also know that Neither of them wanted to go to jail. Unless he specifically TOLD YOU that he wanted the car stopped I think that you should look into how many times chris has ran from the police. I know chris was and is amazing. I honestly think his mother has to be one of the if not the most AMAZING woman in the world. I think that before you go placing judgment you should talk to her because she has tons of insight that I think you should hear. This situation is sticky and I think if you know said persons involved you really shouldn't be the one pointing fingers. Scroll up & read what Abigrig posted and then ask yourself if you think he heard the entire thing on a police scanner. I think that he knows what he is talking about. I also know that there is ONE person in that car who has never ran from the police and it was not chris. It does not matter who you people blame, what matters is that an amazing 24 year young life was lost. There are 4 people that know what was said in that car. Chris, 2 other passengers, & god. Leave judgment for when its due. Judgment day. Celebrate the fact that he is with our lord and savior and he is watching over us as we speak. I have been in very similar situations. I have broken the law. I have seen people do WAY worse things than what these boys are being accused of & I have seen the police walk away.

There was no reason for using deadly force? Are you serious? They were driving over 100mph into on coming traffic. How is that not reason to use deadly force. If they had been allowed to continue this they would have killed someone.
I do however retract my previous statement. I now wish they were in a full size van and all you idiots that are taking up for them were riding with them and were killed as well.
"They were driving over 100mph into on coming traffic"......
Thats what I would say also if If I just used my car to push another off the road causing a fatality...Its called C.Y.A.
but using a frickin motor vehicle in a dangerous manner and threatening the lives of innocent people doesnt qualify???? Deadly force can be used "by anyone" to protect the life of yourself and others. Although the murder charge is a bit much.
Yall are stupid. I mean seriously? Call the Monroe county police department and ask them why the officer who was ramming his car into theirs taunting them when they were on I75 before they attempted to pit them why he is suspended pending further investigation. Wake up people. Dang.
He also tells you to abide by the laws of the land. You are one of those that pick the verses you like: A Selective Christian. Anyone can follow your Bible with one verse highlighted.
Officers are always suspended when they have to use deadly force, which is exactly what he used. He's suspended with pay. He's not in trouble. This is common practice while the GBI does what they have to do, plus it gives him time to get some counseling if he wants it. He'll be back to work in less than a week.
They could have hit the next car that came along and killed them. It could have been someone you knew. High speed chases never end without someone getting hurt. The officer did that to protect the community. Get over it!
You people only look at now. What about in the past. How many times do you guess Mr. Beck has put his life on the line for people like you? He will probably also keep putting his life on the line for you without thought for his own safety. I remember a trooper in Griffin using the same pit maneuver that turned out differently. He was made a hero, which I believe he was, and the people wanted to hang the crook. You can't have it both ways.. If you weren't afraid or just can't pass any test to be in law enforcement, let this man do his job protecting you as best he can without fear of getting in trouble doing the right thing.
I for one am glad the officer did what he had to do. You idiots sit her and try to place blame on the wrong people. We all have choices in life and these crooks made the wrong one. It was their choice to go to that store and commit a crime. It was their choice to get in the vehicle and run from the police when caught. If Chris didn't want to "get" away then why did he get back into the car? THESE GUYS WERE IN THE WRONG! NOT THE POLICE! What if the police had not pursued them and they ended up killing someone? Everyone would be raising hell at the police for that. The police would be threatened with law suits from the innocent victims families....it is so sad. They can win for loosing. Maybe this will be a wake up call to other criminals and the people that try to blame their actions on others. I bet a million dollars that these kids have been in trouble before. There is no excuse for their actions.
Hats off to the officers involved in this. You probably saved many lives and definitely have prevented these criminals from committing more crimes.
The police had every right to do what they did. Its called protecting the public from criminal punks. They should have not committed a crime, that I'm sure all three were in on. What if their next target had been someones home or a bank? Would you blame the homeowner for shooting their thieving butts? Society has gone to hell. I cant believe some of the comments on here. When are people going to take responsibility for their own actions? When are parents going to step up to the plate and raise their kids to be responsible law abiding citizens? They should know that stealing is wrong, but in today's world, so many handouts are given that people automatically think its OK to have "things" without working for them. Did any of these guys have jobs? Have they been in trouble with the law before? How many more excuses are going to be given to try to explain away their guilt in this? By the way, I am sure you are of the mind that crime is OK since you have been involved in it before, but to normal society...its not OK. I don't believe you have seen any cop just walk away from someone stealing or committing any other crime for that matter. But keep on blaming. People like you and your friends seem to be good at that.
My thanks go out to the police department for stopping these guys before someone innocent was killed. I know that officers have to make split second decisions and unless you have ever been in that situation, you should keep your mouths shut. Don't play Monday morning quarterback. I'm sure it is all on camera and will come out after the investigation is complete.
With all of that said, my sympathy still goes out to the family of the guy killed. It is always hard to loose a family member no matter the situation. My sympathy also goes out to the officer. I am sure he did not wish death on any on these men. I thank you officer Beck for putting your life on the line daily to protect citizens, even the idiots that have posted such ridiculous comments on this blog.
Well if the boys had never decided to commit a crime and then run from the police they would be all be here today. Not dead or in the hospital. Why didnt they just get a job if they needed money? Ask family or friends for money? That is too simple isnt it? Why didnt they just pull over when they saw the police after them? Thats too simple isnt it? WTF.....some of you are nuts. It is all about the choices we make!
Here you go again. Still sore about the election bahahahahahaha.
That one deputy on 75 is going to drive you crazy isn't it? I hope you will be able to move above and beyond this one day. I know it is just blowing your mind and working on your nerves so bad. Have you thought about seeking treatment? There are a lot of good medications on the market now...just reach out for help man.
How were the officers suppose to know if they were armed or not? If I had to make a guess, I would assume they were armed. Why not? Most criminals carry guns. Bet this isn't the first time these guys have been in trouble with the law. I'm glad the officer did what he had to do to stop the car. More people could have been killed if he hadn't. You people make me sick trying to stand up for the criminals. They lost their rights when they decided to commit a crime. You sit here and make excuse after excuse and say what should have been done. Well you weren't there. Those of you who knew them should have helped these guys make better decisions....how bout that? Isn't that what friends and family do? Maybe it's your fault that they choose to commit a crime and flee the scene. Did you teach them to disrespect the police? Did you sit around and talk about what society owes you? Just curious.
It is when they are endangering innocent people. They should have pulled over. Plain and simple. The CRIMINALS made their choice and look where it got them. Next your gonna tell us that it is okay the they committed a theift...because they didnt get very much money out of it right? Its not really a crime. Poor guys went to so much trouble. They should be rewarded. Lets take the blame from where it belongs.
Good Job Officers!!!!! Im glad this isnt an article about a family being killed by thieves trying to make their get away.
He shouldn't have been there to begin with. Right??? Why did he get in the car? Why did he make a conscious decision to be a thief? No insult intended, but was this guy retarded and had no ability to think on his own?
Might be different if they were on foot you idiot. Is a pit maneuver considered deadly force? Can you prove this officer intended to kill this kid? I don't think so. I'm sure he intended to stop the car and prevent the CRIMINALS from killing some innocent person or family. Too bad it ended the way it did.
What would you liberal, all for the criminal people say if these kids had caused a wreck? How do you know that they would have slowed down if not being chased? They were trying to get the hell away from the crime scene. You don't know what would have happened. What would the police be blamed for then? Not protecting the citizens? Letting crooks just ride away? I can hear it now. Them crooked lazy cops just let those boys ride off and kill someone. They dont ever do their jobs. They should have stopped them...blah blah blah
Just a little FYI... The police report states that no burglary was committed and that they were just speeding... so next time you speed I want you to be prepared to die because obviously you agree with using deadly force against someone that is only guilty of speeding... Also.. The officer that is suspended is not the one that that administered the pit, the ROOKIE ON A POWER TRIP is suspended for "taunting" them.. By continually ramming his car into theirs. Now PLEASE since ALL OF YOU GUYS think that the other two in the car are guilty of something or another WHY IN THE H*LL ARE THEY SITTING ON THE COMFY COUCH AT HOME???????? If they are such a danger to society why have they not been arrested? Why did the police department call to check on them? Sounds a little flipping weird huh? there are 8 dash cams.. & 3 people that you folks are referring to as criminals who are looking at a pretty pay day (: .... I'm just sayin!
Anything like that is always investigated by an outside source. You should be smart enough to know that. Don you watch the news...You should also know that while an investigation is ongoing, they don't have to tell you jack shit. You get a few tickets or something? Friends of the thieves? Anyway, I'm sure they had their cameras running and when they finish their investigation maybe you will get the details you need to make sure some good ole boy scam wasn't going on.
They don't know their from there or they're. If they did, they would know that them boys shouldnt have went there and robbed that store and then jumpped in their car. They're crazy.
chris could have stayed they didnt pick him up and put him in the car it was all bad and they were all in the wrong but he is dead beacause he ran..............
The way some of you talked, I thought these guys were kids.If these guys were in their 20's, then they knew what they were doing. Hell they are grown. There is always consequences for ones actions. Too bad they didnt know it. Also, Im sure the officer didnt intentionally try to kill this MAN. He did what he had to do to protect law abiding citizens, while putting himself in danger.
Not as I see it. They were doing their job. Why not be a concerned mother and make sure your kids know right from wrong and the consequences of breaking the law. From the looks of things these three men didn't care. They chose to commit a crime and then chose to flee the scene at high rates of speed. I guess it doesnt matter that they could have killed someone does it..
I DO!!! I CARE!!! WHO ARE YOU TO SAY YOU WISHED THEY ALL HAD DIED? THAT IS JUST STUPIDITY COMING FROM A VERY STUPID PERSON!! HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF ONE OF THOSE HAD OF BEEN ONE OF YOUR FAMILY, DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD THEN WISH DEATH ON ALL OF THEM? I DONT THINK YOU WOULD!! I KNOW TWO OF THE THREE THAT WERE IN THAT WRECK AND NEITHER OF THOSE TWO WERE THE DRIVER. I UNDERSTAND THEY DID WRONG BUT FOR WHAT THE ARTICLES SAYS IS THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO BREAK INTO A VIDEO MACHINE, DOESNT SAY THEY DID. PLUS FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THESE MACHINES ARE ILLEGAL IN GEORGIA ANYWAYS, SO DOESNT THAT MEAN THE STORE OWNER IS ALSO BREAKING THE LAW? IT DOES IN MY BOOK!! IM NOT TRYING TO UNDERMIND THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO STEAL, BECAUSE THAT ISNT RIGHT AND IS AGAINST THE LAW BUT DOES A PETY CRIME OF THIS DESERVE HIGH SPEED CHASES? NO, I DONT THINK SO. THEY ALREADY HAD THE TAG INFORMATION SO WHY NOT STOP THE CHASE AND PICK THEM UP LATER? DID IT REALLY HAVE TO COME TO ONE OF MY FRIENDS DYING? I ALSO UNDERSTAND THE DRIVER COULD OF STOPPED AT ANY POINT BUT HE "BEING THE ONE I DIDNT KNOW" DIDNT DO THAT EVEN THOUGH FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD WAS ASKED AGAIN AND AGAIN TO STOP, TO SLOW DOWN, SOMETHING ANYTHING JUST STOP!! BUT HE WOULDNT AND DIDNT LISTEN AND NOW A VERY GOOD FRIEND IS DEAD AND ANOTHER INJURED BADLY BECAUSE THIS DRIVER WOULDNT STOP!! AND THE POLICE MADE IT WORSE BY CONTINUING TO CHASE THESE PEOPLE WHICH IN RETURN MADE HIM GO EVEN FASTER. I BLAME THE DRIVER FOR BEING IGNORRANT FOR NOT STOPPING, BUT I ALSO HAVE TO BLAME THE DEPUTIES FOR PURSUING THIS CHASE WHEN THEY COULD OF HANDLED IT VERY DIFFERENTLY AND MY FRIEND WOULD STILL BE ALIVE!! THE SAYING "YOU HAVE TO PICK YOUR BATTLES" NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT WITH ALL THE POLICE INFORCEMENTS, BECAUSE THIS COULD OF BEEN DONE IN A MORE APPROPRIATE MANNER AND THE POLICE COULD OF STILL MADE THEIR ARRESTS, NO ONE WOULD BE DEAD, AND NO ONE WOULD BE GRIEVING THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE!!! MAKE THE "PIT" MANEUVER FIT THE CRIME!!!!

I expect people who do not know the people in that car to be judgmental and ignorant. If Chris was so very adamant that he wanted the car stopped then why did he not have his seat belt on? Two people in that car have warrents for their arrest. one person in that car does not. two people in that car have fled from the police before. One has not. I can't tell you that I don't agree that it was stupid for him not to stop but I can tell you that I think you should really examine the facts here. The driver was honestly the one with the most to lose, He has 3 kids and has ALWAYS been a permanent fixture in their lives. Hell the other two were going to jail for a while anyways. Do you think he said.. Hey I know how much my buddies want me to pull over so that they can hurry up & go to jail! So I'm going to drive faster! If you know Chris & passenger then you know damn well they were way to proud to let someone force them into something they didn't want to be in. If the passenger REALLY was saying stop stop stop Why in the hell does he feel so guilty about it. & If Chris was saying stop stop stop why didn't he tell his girlfriend what was going on when he text here @ 12:08... The accident was called in at 12:14 Or something very close to that. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU PEOPLE FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO BLAME SOMEONE IF CHRIS'S MOTHER IS NOT BLAMING THE DRIVER I'M SURE ITS FOR A GOOD REASON.
I think the average speeder might be a little different than someone running from the police at a high rate of speed. Most people would pull over. If they had done nothing wrong, then why didnt they stop? While they are sitting home on their commfy couch, maybe they should take a little responsibility for their actions. If charges are going to be filed against them, I hope they are completely recovered from the accident. Dont want my tax money going towards hospital bills.
The machines are not illegal in Georgia. Paying cash for the winnings is illegal. The store can give merchandise for the winnings. Of coarse the "REAL TRUTH" is that the Georgia Lotto system does not get its cut of taxes if you play the convenience store machines.
In other words, damn the unsolved murders, rapists, child molesters, and thieving dope addicts....Waller's finest needs to be keeping a close eye on those convenience stores. After all, they got doughnuts.
That being said, the three were not playing the game for a can of potted meat and crackers, they were trying to "ROB IT." Attempted robbery, like attempted murder just means you did not succeed with the big crime.
For example: Lynette Fromme attempted to assassinate Gerald Ford. She served 24 years for being too stupid to know there was no bullet in the chamber. John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln. He was tracked down and killed.
So the boys will pay for their failure to rob effectively. (And several other failures, I am sure.)
waller's finest supplies me with more than I need, i sell the rest. need some? hell no i am not sore about the election. if waller loses, i will need to find a new connect for my "meds" keep that sheriff in so his "finest" won't leave me in withdrawals
puff the mighty dragon lives by the sea and........i be happy.
I do not want to be rude (lol) but the three must have skipped school when Robbery 101 was being taught. Three guys cannot break open one GAME or politely leave and drive away when they determine that "they brought a pop sickle stick to a robbery?" Obviously, that Bonnie & Clyde gene did not fully develop in any of the three.
The surviving two should get several years for stupidity. If they only had Milam, he could plea all this down to "jay walking real fast on four rubber doughnuts."
Damn. Where is Milam when one needs him? Oh, I forgot.
this officer was doing job trying to keep thieves from robbing innocent hard working folks. it may have cost a thieves life, but could have saved a child or family. it is what it is thugs got caught. they all were just as guilty as the other. chris and his friends in car with him is to blame. the officer put his life in grave danger doing pit and would not have if he did not think it was best.
Again, use of deafly force is not justified, or legal, just because someone is running from the law.
The exception would be if the person were a convicted criminal escaping from jail/prison. This was not the case.
No, they shouldn't have stolen, but stealing is not a capitol offense, and neither is fleeing and attempting to elude.
Some officers are getting way too overzealous, and are resorting to creative descriptions and choice tag words to attempt to make their actions soeem justified. Juries are getting wise to this, though.
Interesting, considering the use of Deadly force is not justified for offences such as Robbery, stealing, Fleeing and Eluding, etc. These guys were running from the law, they did not not hurt or kill anyone, regardless of what "could have" happened. What DID happen is the officer killed one of them.
how is that good if the police killed someone that wanted to get out the only wanted to make that money and the top news they done nothing but killed a family member friend and a father to his one year old daughter and thinks to them she will have to live her life without a father that cared and loved her more then anything
hmmm. where do i start tryin to explain things to ignorant arrogant people is really not my specialty but guess i will try my best in this situation! how bout if this person that was killed was your dad, your brother, your cousin, or maybe even your son! hmm got an answer to that? how would you feel knowing that one of your family members or close friends was killed doing something that really isnt even illegal seeing how the machinese are SUPPOSE to be band from ALL store? hmmm another good question:) or how bout how IT IS illegal for a cop to do the pit maneuver going over a certain speed... and for who ever left the comment up above about the machines.. u idiot they are band from stores learn the law b4 you talk shit! or watch the news! maybe next time it won't be one of my family members being announced dead in the paper or on t.v it will be one of you heartless no good for nothing people that have nothing better to do than get on the enternet and talk shit about something you have absolutly no clue about! clearly we don't care to hear your opinion on the situation! if you would like to take this an further i will be glad to tell you more information about me so that you can get in touch with me and i can better explain this to you! and for who ever was also talkin shit in the unneccesary comments up above learn how to spell and type on the computer u illitorate bastard! :) call it slander if you want clearly its okay for a cop to do illegal things so im gonna take a chance with it now! :D

This is no different than an armed robber or burglar running down the street pointing a handgun at people on the sidewalk and the police shooting and killing him. The only difference is the cars weighs a lot more than that bullet does. Great job Deputies!!!
I'm sure the deputy will feel bad about his part in it for the rest of his life anyway; without people like you reminding him.
Could it be they aren't even protecting I-75 very well either?
Brought back.
The law dogs should have broke off the chase. No money was taken and no one was assaulted, shot or felony committed. No one had to die! The cops need to go to jail!
Thanks to the officers for keeping us safe
Neither do I. You would think those being pursued would have more respect for law enforcement and stop.
It is very sad someone died during this but the responsibility lies in the hands of the persons that were in that car.
Anyone know the condition of the others guys involved in the incident
And charging the driver with murder is just plain overzealous.
Idiots do not have respect for the law, you can give up on that one. Blue lights received respect and caused fear in my youth, today it means a blue light special at Kmart.
So sad. Good deputies are grossly underpaid just like all Military Personnel.
"Chevrolet Equinox SUV with Lumpkin County (Dahlonega) plates."
BUT I still conclude with that much to go on, they could have been subdued in a safer style. If they could read Dahlonega 1/2 inch letters they could read the tag number 4 inch letters.
All Baptists aren't hypocrites and all hypocrites aren't Baptists.
EXACTLY! This is WHY the driver should be charged with murder.
I do however retract my previous statement. I now wish they were in a full size van and all you idiots that are taking up for them were riding with them and were killed as well.
Thats what I would say also if If I just used my car to push another off the road causing a fatality...Its called C.Y.A.
You can "what if" it to death, but it is what it is.
Hats off to the officers involved in this. You probably saved many lives and definitely have prevented these criminals from committing more crimes.
That one deputy on 75 is going to drive you crazy isn't it? I hope you will be able to move above and beyond this one day. I know it is just blowing your mind and working on your nerves so bad. Have you thought about seeking treatment? There are a lot of good medications on the market now...just reach out for help man.
Good Job Officers!!!!! Im glad this isnt an article about a family being killed by thieves trying to make their get away.
In other words, damn the unsolved murders, rapists, child molesters, and thieving dope addicts....Waller's finest needs to be keeping a close eye on those convenience stores. After all, they got doughnuts.

He's at the Plea Market.

Chases generate such a massive L.E. presence because they are fun.
Honestly, it is fun.

Regardless, the officer sure did seem eager to pit them out. Especially when they were in another county even.
