The Lamar County Trojans were held scoreless in the second half as they dropped a 22-14 decision to the MCA Bucs here Friday night.

PPM, if you have to beg, or plead, for fans to fill up the stands for a state playoff game, then that is an indictment of your lack of community support of the athletic programs. There are sports-minded communities, and there are festival-minded communities. The prevailing theory is that Lamar Co. is the latter of the two options.

Show me a community that identifies with the success of their high school athletic programs, and I'll show you a consistent winner -- and, a probable champion.

#3.1 Have you lived in LC for long? Yes we do need to continue to show support for our athletic programs. But we have come along way in just the last few years. I remember just a few years ago when I had to go have a Trojan T-shirt made for myself and children because you couldn't find one for sale anywhere. And I remember not to long ago when we couldn't fill Summers Field. But Suddenly it Changed and we got Trojan Pride! I am not from Lamar County and did not go to school here my whole life like most. But I have been her for going on 10 years and have 2 children in Lamar County Schools. I have always supported our Trojans no matter if we are 0-9 or 9-0... because it's our kids! They go out and work hard to do the best they can. And now with the help of a great coaching staff and community support people are starting to see just how special each and every one of our LC children are.

Really? Did the school replace the coaching staff after the regular season? I thought I saw the same coaching staff that took the team to the playoffs the past two seasons.

These coaches have done a tremendous job with these kids. If you don't like the coach's calls, become a certified teacher, apply for his job, and do something about it.

Sadly, the stands were not full. the crowd does not know how to get raucus. It is more like a carnival atmosphere at the games. How can you now see that PPM ? Lamar Co. should have won that game hands down. MCS traveled 6 hours, yet they win the game in the 2nd half? Really??

They would have had to coach a lot better in order to raise the level to just bad!! That is possibly the worst game coaching and offensive game plan I have ever seen in my 40 years of watching high school football!!

It's clear to the eye that the Trojans are not one of the better teams in AA football. I wonder what their record is against teams with winning records.

Strickland has done a good job with the talent he has. He has worked hard to TRY to change the mentality of the community. Until that changes... don't expect the results to change.

7-4, 7-4, 2 straight years in the playoffs, that just sucks!!! I wish we could go back to 1-9, 1-9, 2-8 seasons!

C'mon folks, quit kidding yourself, the talent level is not there. Region 4 AA is one of the weakest in the state. How many kids from Lamar or Pike are going to play football at the next level? The coaches are doing the best with what they got. If you're a top notch football player around here, you go to Griffin!

You obviously know nothing about football... and spelling. Coach Strickland has done an awesome job at Lamar County. The Trojans have been to the playoffs for two seasons in a row. Since you know so much about play calling, why don't you take over?

Lots of truth to this.

McIntosh lost to Cook 41-7. Putnam was only 4AA team to win in first round and they lost to Fitzgerald 42-14.

Carver from Columbus is in LC's old 5AA region and they are rolling. They won their second round game 21-7. Callaway was only other 5AA school in second round and they lost 52-14.

Trojans should feeling lucky. They could have won and made the trip to Adele and got beat bad like McIntosh Academy did...Cook County put and butt whipping on McIntosh and they would have done the same to the Trojans. Cook County is now 11 and 0, not 7 and 4.

LOL, Brass. You said a mouthful when you mentioned the carnival atmosphere. Everybody gets excited when the carnival comes to town, but forgets about it as soon as it leaves, and doesn't think about it again, until it rolls around the next year. Therein lies a big part of the problem.

Your community sports, especially the major ones like football, baseball, & basketball should be a passion that perpetuates itself year round'. You will get out of it, what you put into it. It's a mindset that needs fixing, if it is to be more than just an afterthought.

Cook lost last night. Region 1AA had 4 teams in quarterfinals and all 4 lost. Carver from our old 5AA region won and is still in the hunt. Putnam was only 4AA in quarterfinals and they lost.
