Sheriff Larry Waller and his deputies, Barnesville Police Department investigators, Narcotics Task Force agents and personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration made four arrests today after a drug raid on a residence at 137 Banks Rd. One of those arrested is a Griffin firefighter.

Great Job to everyone involved in this investigation. I to am tired of the drugs dealers running rampant in Lamar county. Good to see someone finally doing something about it.

Nice job lamar county of violating the rights that we have as american citzens. Illegal raids similar to the one of neal street case in atlanta where a 90 yr old citzen was killed! No warrant was shown until 3 hours laters but they still were detained(violation of rights)from my understanding of the law before you enter an american citizens house you either ask or have a court ordered warrant, And for the record two of these citens has been retired for some 30 yrs now and one is currently helping save lives everyday as a firefighter and the other iz a full time honor student making a career for herself! The media(herald gazette) makes it seem like they are the worsts of criminals when really the are decent american citens with rights that should'nt be violated! So bloggers think before you blog because this town iz corrupt in many ways that us citens will never know!!!!

For the record: two of these endividuals have not "been retired for some 30 years now." I worked with both of them for some 30 years and they retired about a year ago.

If two of these people have been retired for 30 years and their age is listed as 60 and 63 -- doesn't that mean they retired around the age of 30? Are you sure about your facts? It seems that no-one is exempt from drug trafficking - even firefighters, teachers and anyone else.

And it doesn’t matter if they didn’t show them the warrant until three hours later as long as they had it when they entered the house. You are just some drug dealing friend of these people who is TRYING to defend them.

Maybe they're guilty, and maybe they're not. I'm just glad to see these drugs off the street. Whoever the guilty party or parties is deserves a quick and severe punishment. These drugs are destroying children's lives, and that is unforgivable.

I will pray for this family. Just bad choices that were made. Its not for us to judge but to pray. And to the users of drugs. You have just as much responsibility as they do to do right for your community. Sometimes we look at one party but we need to look at the whole picture and wether a drug dealer or user it will lead to nothing but destruction in the end.

I don't know what the situations is....but do not convict people before you know the true story. I know that drugs were found but they are still innocent until proven guilty. As far as the parents, I beleive they just got caught up in this situation without actually knowing about the drugs. As far a drugs being a problem in Lamar County, it is not only the Blacks but the Whites as well. They whites are doing the same thing but you just don't ever hear about it.

Mr. Sullivan has been deceased for many years, over 15 to be exact and he should be able to continue to rest in peace without having ignorant people stating their ignorant opinions. mainly stating so called "Facts" which they do not know what they are talking about. Secondly, its great to know that when problems do arise we have a law enforcement system that will manipulate and misuse their badges for their own ego boost. The family are and will mantain in my prayers. And if i must add, poster #2, if you want to know about a family business you should really check out the family of these prominate law officials!!! that family business has been running for decades and should come to an end...i understand the difference between right and wrong and i realize that justice must be served but it matters HOW justice is served...and bottom line in this case justice was not served accordingly. Some of you are making some pretty serious allegations toward the law officials in Lamar Co. I think you should put up or shut up. I know a lot of these guys pretty darn well and you sound like a bunch of folks who got caught and need someone to blame. This decade family business that you are referring to - prove it or lose it. I have heard that they hit the lotto a few years back from other Johnstonville ppl. Im not sure on that one though but as far as Reg. Tamplin as a person, you probably couldnt meet a nicer person to talk to. However when you ride around with a 30k dollar 1970 Chevelle with rims, 40-50k dollar Dodge SRT8 charger, New avalanche etc (not all necessarily at the same time but some were) you cant expect but to raise some questions. He worked at Jackson prison for a while making 24k a year and having everything under the sun. I kinda figured it but never would have bet money on it. A dealer is a dealer.

I agree with you on the fact that I'm raising children in this area and these low lifes are bring drug into this area. Jail is too good for them. Also, I am a Griffin Firefighter and this young man is employeed by Spalding Co. Fire/Rescue. We have several very good men from Lamar Co. employeed with us and this is a huge disgrace to our profession.

I have known Reginald Tamplin for well over 15 years. He is an intelligent, caring young man who worked to save the lives of others as a firefighter. While the evidence speaks volumes, we must remember that everyone is innocent until proven otherwise. There are many other facts that will come out as this investigation continues and I am praying for those who are truly involved to be brought to justice, not those who were simply caught up unexpectedly. My family and I will continue to lift Reginald and his family in prayer.

The bottom line is that right is right and wrong is wrong. No matter who is involved or what race they are. Justice will be served no matter if we as citizens think it is right or not. Look at the bigger picture there is a whole family involved in this much like the big case that took place in Griffin months ago. The comment about the Sullivans was out right ignorant because this young lady has to define her own future she should not be judged based on her family and what they did or did not do. Reggie is a father and beyond what he has done or been accused of doing he will feel bad enough when his kids are heartbroken because they can't see their dad. He was an excellent father! Sometimes we are taken to places in life for our well being. We have to acknowledge who is head of our life and not what is head of our life. When material possessions take precedence over the head of our life we are usually lost and he will remove those things which means the most to us in order to get our attention. I am praying for this family!!!!!!!

Alot of you are sitting around making comments when you really don't know all the facts or what had to take place for something like this to happen. I am not making any excuses for anyone but desprite times call for desprite measures. I just want Reginald to know that he is not the first and probably wont be the last. As per the constitution and the bill of rights, all american have rights. That means whether black or white, the law cannot search anyone's home without the proper documentation (probable cause) being show to the persons' (being Reggie and Shamekia or whomever else was involved). If the warrant was not on the site when the search and seizure was administered then they (the police) broke their (Reggie and Shamekia) fourth amendment right. That evidence will be admissable in a court of law. To say that I disagree with some of the racial accusations being thrown out in this blog. Let's grow up people! This is not the early 1700. Please continue Ms. Williams. Who in Blue is so crooked? Have you reported them? Truth be known, I dont see any law enforcement driving around in nice cars or have nice big homes. In fact, most of them are working 2 or 3 jobs just to make ends meet. It makes me sick knowing how hard these guys work and for such little pay. butgod - When you walk around during Buggy Days thinking that everyone is looking at you thinking you don't belong there - I think that is your attitude and not the way most people feel. What more do you want from society? What opportunities have the black people not been given? All white people do not get everything they want either. I don't like to see anyone oppressed but I don't like to see golden opportunities squandered either. I think there are many good people out there, no matter what the color, but what makes them stand out is what they do with what they have and how they work to achieve it.

Does no one know true history? The first slaves were not black; they were white and came from the street slums of London, many of them were even children (orphans). Black slaves did not arrive until much later. In our countries history, whites suffered many more years and many more generations of slavery than blacks ever did.

Hitler was a savage, many in the KKK were and are savages, heck my grandfather was KKK and I know first-hand how mean those types can be. Does that give me the right to be a savage, NO, I worked hard to become BETTER than he. Just because people in the past did savage acts doesn't mean a hill of beans. YOU were never a slave, YOU were not put in one of those camps, what right do you have to use those events to justify YOUR actions?

There you go saying "whites" did those things, when in fact you should understand that whites in general are NOT like that. Just like I understand that not all blacks are welfare, killing, thieving people demanding a free handout (yes whites do this too I know). There are some like that both black and white, but to generalize it as a color thing is ignorant. It's a mind thing, and those that justify their beliefs because of something done decades ago, well those types are not too bright. One should not live in the past, one should strive to make their OWN future blessed, prosperous and joyful using the tools and resources provided to them today. No one owes anyone a thing, it’s our right to earn everything we get from a good education to the respect of people in many walks of life no matter what race they are.

BTW, my anonymous posts are for a reason, because I do have many friends in the black community and I would not want someone saying “Oh, she’s just one of our homies”. You do not know if I am white or black….maybe I am mulatto, maybe I am Chinese. I am by no means an Internet Coward, what I say in my comments I would say to anyone’s face. I just choose not to, because my friends would have my back and I would not want to cause discord among the brothers and sisters.

BTW I did not say Reggie was a savage, can you even read? I said he had shown that he is NOT like that with his intelligent posts and heartfelt sorrow about what his parents have endured and are going through.

At least I can spell lol. And sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not a man. As for discord, do you assume I mean fighting? If so, you're a prime example that illustates EXACTLY what I am saying. Violence is not even a consideration as far as I am concerned. Look up the definition for discord lol. I meant it to be "I would not want some colored people getting angry at my friends because my friends would dare to defend something that was said by someone from the OTHER side of the tracks". You really need to improve your education in MANY areas.

Don't forget to correct "coorect", "u" is you ( and it should be capitalized), "ready" is really. After "education" should be a period to end the sentence, not a comma. "What" should be capitalized. "Do" should be does, a question mark should be after like since you're asking a question. The i should be I and it should be "I have never seen one" not "i never seem one". Dumb should be capitalized, azz should be ass and they are one word not two, dumbass.
