I posted # 1. I'm NOT trying to be funny, I'm offended."Christmas Photos" is correect. I feel bad for those of you that don't realize that. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.
It is wide open, like the other posters stated, what holiday are they for? "The holiday" is not descriptive, please tell me what "The Holiday" is, could it be (*Gasp*) Christmas?
Christmas is the original, long held traditional December 25th, time off of work, celebrate baby jesus, buy presents for your loved ones, "holiday", like it or not. Up until a few years ago, "Merry Christmas" wasn't an issue.
Majority rules in the real world. Thats why newspapers are suffering so much lately, they have lost touch with the majority, and reality.
I would like to submit a photo of our family celebrating Hannukah as we were fortunate enough to celebrate with 3 generations this year. The article says high resolution. I am not sure what that is. We have the photos from a digital camera. Is that acceptable?
And for the record, I am a Jew and am not offended by the use of Merry Christmas. I would hope no one would be offended by Happy Hannukah. What I am offended by is that individuals feel this forum is constantly a sounding board for ignorance and cynicism.
Thank you Mr. George for speaking up on behalf of the newspaper. Your efforts are appreciated.
Wouldn't I be correct in saying that the person who said "Christmas is the original, long held tradition" might not remember that Hannakuh is a bit older? I might have my facts off. I know that the Jewish calendar doesn't line up exactly with the "Christian" calender so Hannakuh varies, but it is approximately the same time of year as Christmas.
Anyway, I hope you and all my Jewish friends I didn't get a chance to speak to yet had a wonderful Hannukah.
Santa Claus, Baby Jesus, Elves, Reindeer, Candy Canes, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Christmas gifts, why on Gods green earth would anyone want to go and mess with the spirit of Christmas?
Just like some liberal do-gooders, y'all all think that anything that is good and makes people happy has to be bad somehow, and done away with. This whole "holiday" mess is the first step.
I am Post # 2 and I am not trying to be funny either. As we ride around this CHRISTMAS season and see an establishment selling HOLIDAY TREES, I hope we ask the same question that I asked here, what holiday? Ask them if they can show you the Easter trees or the 4th of July trees or the Memorial day trees or the Labor day trees. I think if you ask them they will tell you they are actually selling Christmas trees but they are afraid the political correct police will cause their business to go down. How sad we think about things like that.
Dear Nolan,
Please excused/ignore the self centeredness of some of the posters on THG. It took me moving 3,000 miles away to realize that there are other wonderful religions and people in the world besides what is in Lamar County. It's not about being politically correct, it is about being open minded and respectful of others!
PS. Don't waste your time by taking their bait for an argument. I am not sure where this quote came from but I love it. "You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to."
Nolan George – I know you are making every attempt to be politically correct so you won’t offend anyone. My question is why? We are in America. You have the right to say what you wish. In America this holiday season is widely accepted as the Christmas Season and because of our Judeo-Christian “FOUNDING”. Happy Hanukkah is totally acceptable.
Now I’m certain I’ve perhaps angered a few of you by making reference to the United States being founded on Judeo-Christian principals. I know you prefer to believe the country was not founded on any religious principals. Of course you are wrong on your assumptions because our founding fathers made it possible for you to be an atheist or to worship as you please without fear of religious persecution. Not the other way around.
Hi Carrie, You might have moved 3,000 miles away but you are still reading the herald gazette blog. Kind of addictive isn't it? Bet the newspaper blogs in your area are boring. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
People including children should really honor what CHRISTMAS is truly about. nowadays it is just an excuse to get more toys etc. When we really should be thankful for what we have. We are not gauranteed another minute on this earth yet everyone thinks that we have all the time in the world. The world ends for someone every second of everyday. Please don't take it for granted. If tomorrow never comes will the ones you love know that you do.
Hannauka is not a Jewish holiday. It is a more recently formed celebration in defiance of Christmas, that is roughly 40 years old that was started during the "black power" movement, by blacks, for blacks.
You should research your facts a little more.

However we wont post them or print them till the appropriate season of the particular photo.
They sure look like Christmas photos to me.
No amount of liberals or newsmen (one in the same, actually) will ever alter that in the majority of people.
By the way, I refuse to do business with folks who are too afraid to say "Christmas"
What ever happened to accuracy in reporting?

Post #1 is: "Everybody, Get your 4th of July photos in today".
You seriously think now is the time we want your 4th of July photos?
I'm sorry, I thought that was a joke.
I think its easier to say "Holiday photos!".
We try not to discriminate. I don't understand why people assume the worst of us and try to make us bad guys.

Your forgetting what this post is about. Would you like to submit your Christmas photos?

It just means good quality photos, or clear sharp photos.
Anyway, I hope you and all my Jewish friends I didn't get a chance to speak to yet had a wonderful Hannukah.
And now it's CHRISTMAS TIME.

Merry Christmas or a Happy Hanukkah
