Major Brad White, chief deputy at the Lamar County sheriff's department, is disputing claims made by Horton Rendezvous owner Ronald Horton in the aftermath of a shooting there early Sunday morning. Those comments were published in the January 25 edition of The Herald-Gazette.

So glad Brad White has the guts to tell it like it is. The only reason that place is still open is because of who owns it. This should be a slap in the face to every elected person for allowing this to happen. Not only do officers have to deal with the crows nest, has anyone seen the Huddle House after the crows nest lets out? It is freaking ridicilous. How much of law enforcements time is wasted trying to keep the riots down there? Are there any stats?

I bet the security guard didnt shoot that guy!!!!

Brad White has some big ones, maybe we can get the hortons off the board and start arresting those dope boys from across the tracks and gordon, barnesville is about as bad as fort valley now!

The county commissioners should be fired...lets try not to re-elect any of them. All it takes is for someone to cry foul and its swept under the rug. I also believe that if the sheriffs department is no longer doing road checks, someone probably ordered them to stop after Horton complained. I also believe the police dept may have been influenced in some way regarding what is taking place in their own front yard. Hey Kenny Roberts and Mayor Banks, take a ride down Mill Street. Look at what is going on right in front of the police department. Do you see anything wrong? Is that not embarassing? What about chuck Keadle?.....peep outside. How bout getting that task force out and about. If they are a part of Barnesville, then why aren't any arrest made here in town? Who cares if its little people....arrest them!!!!!

Of course Brad Whaite gonna say those things. He Waller boy. He used to be one of us now he brainwashed cuz he want Waller to help him get elected. They docotor up them times to make they self look good in the public eye. They can do anything cuz they the man. But we ain't gonna take much more of thid. It time to rise up and put our own in office and then we see how they feel about that.

My point is why did Ant have a gun at the club in the first place. What would have happened if the situation was reversed. The security was there to protect and that is what they were doing. Shouldn't Ant be charged with bringing a weapon to a public place. That is a terroristic threat charge and then to fire the weapon at her. If the bullet had struck the lady then what would have been said about that.

"Would Larry Waller allow deputies to work security" at the club in question is not answered by Maj. Brad White. His response describes the action taken by the Sheriff's Dept., I suppose.

Ronald Horton claims deputy sheriff's may not be employed as security.

Road checks will not cut down on stuff like that! They will just hide it in the trunk!Also that does nothing but slows down business for the owners! Only about 40% of Americans likes to be around cops unless they call them to help them!I dont really think the percentage is even that high! And what does the commissioner's personal busines have to do with him being a commissioner!

you all are crazy check around the only reason deputies hold a road block around this place is cause waller owns a trucking co. in front of it and he been tryin to close it down for years he also owns property across the road from it he even tried to buy it from horton but he wont sell. look i dont agree with all the problems but when you have a business like this there's goin to be problems the deputies workin security should been doing the job they were paid to do by hortons that why he hired them, an brad is just a puppet for waller get educated bout Lamar co. brad stands for nothin this is the first time he done anything about anything why cause he runnin for sheriff got to make a name sometime that what what waller is gettin him ready for cause waller not going to be here 4 ever and certainly not after the next election tooooo many wrongs with waller hs knows it. benny tryin to make ends meet for his family like everyone else in this backwards county I just wish you all would get the FACTS bout waller and his crew before you commend white for playin there game on people in this county like u are so upset with the county commission rightly so.TRUTH TRUTH SEEK AN U WILL FIND

why did it take dispatch one minute to dispatch deputies to a shooting, normally they will keep the caller on the phone and conact a deputy right then were they outside somking or maybe talkin to there boyfriends, had to wake a deputy up before they could respond to the radio, or get them out of flash food and made them pour out there free drink they get or maybe just didnt care thats an emergency find out walter two in the morning come on there not that busy. u wouldnt want that happen to u or your family if u needed a police officer or a deputy I thought thats why we had 911 emergency

Waller needs to get with the program! I have been to clubs in the surrounding counties and off deputies are allowed to work out there! Sounds to me as if Waller is not on the Horton's side like we think he is!Even I dont see the problem with cops working out there if they are willing to.

First of all if I were a deputy, why in the hell would I work at a place like the crows nest? Second of all, some of you are just plain stupid. If they were allowed to have road blocks, I'm sure they would get to toss quite a few cars coming from that place. If they smell weed, then they can search the whole car, even the trunk. And last, why would Larry Waller try to cover up anything concerning that place? Who cares where he owns property. The problem is people making excuses for problems they themselves create. Take for example, the rambling post from that boys mama. Hate to tell you honey, he shouldn't have had a gun to begin with. He shouldn't have fired it at someone and he is lucky to be alive. So instead of blaming the Sheriffs Dept. Why not blame yourself.....you raised him!!! Maybe you have been half steppin...where is daddy?

The Lamar County and City of Barnesvile police department are a complete and total joke. Even the jail is a joke. Barnesville needs to be completly overhauled and the community needs to get all of these sorry ass people out of these positions. Let them expeirience what it's like to be on the other side of things. These judges and D.A.'s need to be disbarred and never be able to serve in a judicial system again. People on murder charges have the best chance of catching a bond in this system than someone on a petty drug charge. It's all about them getting paid and once they have theirs they throw criminals right back on the street. The board of commisioners are a bunch of ignorant fools that got elected because of money or who their daddy's were. It's just like the president, all of these people have been elected on false promises and once elected they screw everyone in their path that is not benificial to have around. Time for some change.

i am a former family member (was in-law happy to be out-law) waller is so connected to crooks and schemers.......if the county knew the facts, there would be law suits filed but it would have a change of venue because richard m. would be involved also.

If he didn't have shootings and other possible illegal activities going on in his business, then it wouldn't matter....but fact is something needs to be done about that place. It really looks great for a commissioner to have all of this junk going on. He should be held to a higher standard, just like others in the public eye. The fact that he is a commissioner gives everyone the right to know what kind of business he is running.
People who live a certain lifestyle do not see that there is a problem. They are raised to think its ok to walk around with drugs and guns. Then you complain about black youths having nothing to do, well do you wonder why? Like hell I would let some of you in any business that I own.
Bottom line, if it were my business, I would personally ensure that there was nothing illegal going on. It is my responsibility to do that. Not the PD or the SO. Just like the man that owns that gas station across the tracks, where is his personal responsibility? I dont see other businesses in town allowing people to crowd the parking lots day and night. Why is this acceptable?

Do da is do dumb. The 911 call came "in" 1:50:31. I think the dispatcher is doing a great job. Once the call came in, they had to ask questions to get info from the caller. That took 56 seconds, then dispatch was sent 1:51:24 . If you think you can top that, you need to go in there and get a job as a lamar co. dispatcher. Next time you are in need of a police officer, call one of your buddies at the Crows Nest to come over and help. As far as Mr. Horton putting food on the table. I am sure as he is stuffing his pockets from the money brought in from that bar,some of that money probably was meant to be spent on rent, tutition, utilities, feeding families, or physical abuse from a drunken spouse or father or mother. he can look in the mirror and be proud.

Your his Mom and you will stand up for him however your son was in the wrong for spitting in the lady face and then to fire a shot at her. Come on and then for him to be bragging Saturday morning about going to the club and going ham. Why take a gun to the club anyways. So your son plays a part in this as well. The club has always had security there. I have been to the Crow's Nest several times and have not had a problem. What we as parents fail to realize is that our kids are not perfect by far but if you continue to think that they don't do any wrong then they are gonna continue to do what they are doing. This should be a wakeup call. Life is too short.

lmao i totally agree. what was he thinking. i am glad the security guard shot him because by the sound of things he was going to shot up the yard and harm innocen. people. He should have not had a gun in the first place. And what is the reason you need people to write letters in your son defends. This guy has a rap sheet longer than your arm.Has been in several OUTRAGEOUS incidents.What is it going to take for him to kill someone.Maybe next time it will be your sister, brother, cousin or friend, or maybe even you.Then what? As a wife of one of the LEO officers here in LC, I would NOT want my husband working out there!! If you have ever seen the Huddle House parking lot at 2am on a Thursday night, it is bad enough they have to put up with that!!!! Thanks Brad for standing up to them!!!

Barnesville is not bad, it is the bad people in Barnesvile and the outsider that comes to Barnesville.So quit the comparison. People that choose to do bad.Know right from wrong. Just because the owner is a Chairman of the Board. He didn't pull the trigger.We blame everybody for our own mistakes.I suggest to Mr.Horton, if the Sherrif want give you any officer. Hired off duty officer as sercurity guards to protect the innocent and be professional about how you run your business.Mr. Horton has never been stop by law for doing anything wrong in his community. keeping it real.

The sheriff does not have to provide security for any private business. It is up to Mr. Horton to hire security and he obviously needs to hire a lot of them.

Usually any type of function with a high volume of people or even a small crowd has police there and security guards for incidents like this

who owns the place and what they do is irrelevant

what waller and white do have done or who they deal with is irrelevant to the fact that a female was disrespected and this young man should not have had a weapon in the club seems to me he somewhat was waiting to use it or else he would not have had it
and if the community feels the place should be shut down due to crime and or illegal things occuring in the same sense police should be there to cut down on this isnt that why we pay taxes for them to protect and SERVE?

I don't want my tax dollars used to have to babysit people that chose to go to a nightclub that serves alcohol and have other pary favorites to partake of. If it is that dangerous , that they need law enforcement to be the security , it needs to be closed down. I am sure they can find a place to go in Clayton county. I used to be a vendor at 2 black night clubs in clayton county. After seeing the aftermath of what goes in there, I refused to go service a black nightclub. The one on Tara Blvd. was a regular bar until it was bought and turned into a black nightclub. They had 2 clayton county police as security. After 3 shootings and cars broken into and the bar trashed several times, the owner closed it down. It was only open for 8 months. Oh yeah, they also had metal detectors. The other night club on Hwy 85 called Da Spot , they had an off duty cop as security, 2 shootings and bar trashed. That was nothing compared to what they did to the bathrooms. I saw sinks ripped from the wall, doors kicked off their hinges, urine all over the walls and doors, human feces smeared on the wall in the men's restroom and out in the hall way. And you wonder why these black night clubs hire off duty law enforcement unstood of bouncers ? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I drove down Crawford road the other night and the parking lot was packed and cars were parked up and down the road. If I remember correctly it is against the law to drink and drive. So I will give the Crow's Nest the benefit of the doubt. I am sure the cars were being driven by designated drivers that weren't drinking. If they can't handle the alcohol , they don't need to be drinking. I agree with Sheriff Waller. He should not allow the deputies to work at any bar as security. They have better things to do than to intervene into drunken brawls or fights that can esculate into riots. Close the place down.

Correct.
If this club was not across the street from the Waller's spread, you would not see all the roadblocks. Road blocks are a form of harassement just to get the club to close. It is normal to allow off duty deputies to work clubs. Nothing is normal about the Sheriff office.

I think that they should close down the crows nest and put more focus on the riffraff that they are letting come in from other counties. For instance those rowdy Gordon College students. In my apartment complex and it used to be so quiet until they came in and brought the loud parties and disturbance to a very quiet and peaceful place. So no I don't just blame Mr. Scott for what happened at this club because I have been there and all they do is fight, deal and smoke drugs, underage drinking and yes it was some girls on stage taking there clothes off and i could call some names but I wont because their family might see it. Also the main reason I quit going was because their where kids in there that i know was under the age of 18. The main time is on holidays when they let anyone and everyone in. My personal opinion is the security should be punished to the max because regardless he is not suppose to have a gun being a convicted felon regardless of where you work. Also if you are a convicted felon what where you convicted of and shouldn't that violate his parole or something? As far as Ant goes I think that its more to the story and his so call homeboys and anyone else that was standing around needs to tell the truth because if he is innocent there is no need of letting him go to jail.

I have saw people take off clothes at the clubs that i go to but that doesnt mean that they are naked! Just because u take off one shirt because your hot does not mean that they get naked.They have on multiple clothing to stay warm outside!Also if someone did take off all of their clothes im sure they told them to put them back on.That would be too many witnesses to have nude people running around the stage!

Off duty deputies can probably work anywhere they want to...I also think your wrong about the roadblocks. They are trying to protect the community from people like the punks at this club...the more guns and dope they get from the roadblocks the better in my opinion.

I can say that I have heard and seen worse in clubs before. The only matter I would have with this entire video is that there were way too many people in that little room. Other than that there isn't an issue with it. If you dont' like the type of music of course you will find it offensive.

If Deputies worked at that rat hole of a club they would shut it down. Due to all the drug smoking and underage drinking that goes on in that place. Everyone that went there would be in jail and there wouldnt be anyone left to attend the little parties lol

After reading the full account of what happened in the Herald Gazette, I am all for that place being closed down. Apparently Horton got what he asked for Thursday night. Full security from the sheriff's dept. From reading the account from the paper the parking lot was near to empty. I bet Horton lost money that night. They did road checks and confisicated 3 weapons. The incident started when Scott spit in Kendra Hortons face. ( the co-owners daughter) Too many details and actual police report to type every detail. It is very interesting what transpared and how the police and sheriffs department stopped near riots at the crows nest and several places in Barnesville where the crowd of around 200 people left the crows nest ended up. Thank you Lamar County and Barnesville Police for stopping something that could of gotten way out of control.

Actually I went last thursday and I had fun.It was people there and the parking lot had cars so I dont know what you are talking about!The road block was no where near the club so i didnt even have to go through it but I did see several cars pulled over by cops.

Great job Brad! I agree with road blocks being set up around bars and night clubs. It makes people think twice about drinking and driving!! Just keep up the good work, we need more officers with your backbone!
