Yea, lets promote folks rushing into getting married, only to later realize that, after the new has worn off, they wish they hadn't, and then get divorced.
Well, duh. Don't you have to pay the county/city/state for the marriage license, divorce, etc. On top of it, you make the lawyers a bit of money as well.
The last thing any of us need is government all up in our relationships.
Hale Yeeyah! I done been married up four times. First: Lived in Pike...Honeymoon=Griffin
Second: Lived in Upson...Honeymoon=Thomaston
Third: Lived in Pike.. Honeymoon=Griffin
Fourth:...Lived in Griffin Honeymoon=Home
Bubba, if we marry up, will you take me all the way to Jonesboro?
Leave Judge Thomas alone! He's just tryin to help these poor misguided folks out here who think that getting married is gonna a)help them out financially b)make them stop fighting so much c)get him to finally stop looking at other women.
i need to see pics of camper and truck first...oh and i got 6 kids: billy joe, billie jean, billy jr., bobby joe, bobbie jean and john boy..u willing to take care of them!!!lol
I am one of those getting married there. Its not because its free either. Besides that Judge Thomas does it free all the time. Not all getting married do it just because. My fiance and I have been together a long time and we have a wonderful relationship and will continue to even after being married. You shouldnt talk down on others cause your marriage didnt work out. I pay my taxes so guess those who say its a waste can consider mine paid. Grow up people.
Why does anyone think this is costing you (as a taxpayer) money?
I'm of the impression that the Judge and others involved are donating their time to do this.
How about a simple "thank you" to Judge Thomas, or perhaps no comment at all, if you're going to be negative about it.
You are all idiots. Unless things have changed since I got married seven years ago, marriages are free. You pay for the license and the judge marries you for free. You can tip him but it is not required. It seems to me that all you are getting extra is some flowers but I could be wrong. Sheila, you haven't said anything at all that I agree with and truth be told, anyone who does agree with you just seems to be bitter divorcees to me. People seem to use divorce as an excuse to get going when things get tough which means you lied during your vows anyway. I don't completely disagree with divorce but it should only be used when things cannot be fixed, not because you are unwilling to try to fix them. I have more respect for the people who "shack up" than I do for the multiple divorced man or woman. At least the "sinful" couple knows they can't make a promise that they can't keep.
As the mother of the Bride getting married there on Monday, Can I just say I am loving Judge Thomas right about now. I just saved a whole lot of $. A Great big "THANK YOU" to you Sir.

Here is what I suggest:
Pay the preacher $2000 to marry a couple. (That is when a man really thinks he (wuvs) you and will willingly pay.
Supply free divorces.
Make Marriage renewable every 5 years.
Make drivers license last until death do you part.
Good luck with that!
Have the government stop promoting folks running out and getting married. (Like they are with this)

BUT I confess. I was only a virgin on the first two honeymoons.
