The Lamar County Activity Center received a grant from the Health Promotion Resource Center at Morehouse School of Medicine that aims to prevent teen pregnancy. The program will follow 60 local, low-income 11-12 year olds for five years to track their progress.

how can we learn about job opportunities?
I left Georgia at the age of 16. Even then I knew I didn't want to follow the script of early marriage (maybe) and pregnancy while still a teenager.
When I moved back here at the age of 40, I was so disappointed to see that the trend continues, and may be more pronounced.
I had hoped a quarter of a century would have changed this.
Parent(s), please make it abundantly clear to your children that an education is the most important job your child has while in your home, that you have no intention of raising grandchildren and that there is a big wide world of wonder out there to explore and there will be time for marriage and children later in life.
Your children are listening and watching your actions.
Parents really need to have serious talks and open door policy with there children, boys and girls, about sex and pregnancy and the life time responsibility for a child.
Stopping the "checks" would be a great way for the government to cut back on spending and would also get rid of a big incentive to get pregnant as a teen for some!
