SRE: Outages down to 800

Southern Rivers Crews made great strides overnight in restoring power to cooperative members and, as of 8 a.m., outages were down to 800.

UPDATE: Power to all homes without structural damage is near complete. SRE was down to 90 impacted jomes at 5:30 p.m. All power, except that to damaged homes, is expected to be restored by the end of the day.

They are so slow. I wish we have another provider in the area!

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU GO OUT AND DO THE WORK THEY DO. I HATED IT WHEN MY DADDY HAD TO WORK STORMS BECAUSE SOMETIMES HE DIDNT COME HOME FOR DAYS BECAUSE HE WAS OUT CLIMBING POLES TO GET YOUR LIGHTS BACK ON!!! HOW SELFISH OF YOU TO SAY THEY ARENT FAST ENOUGH.

Other providers are still working outages too....not just SRE.

I think we should be grateful that they are out working around the clock to get power up for us.

I have always found SRE responsive and service orientated and a lot faster than the other provider in the area. I have multiple accounts with both providers so I have real time data.

Where in the world would we be if we didn't have electricity. Be thankful that they were able to restore the power as quickly as they did. I lived for over a year without power and I'm still standing. What's your problem? could get on the computer?to many modern day conveniences is one of the problems with todays society.

Obviously you don't know the sacrifices the workers make so your power can be restored! A lot of them work day & night to make it happen. Working on dangerous hot lines, on just a few hours of sleep if any at all!! Not to mention the time away from their families! My husband has been home maybe 6 hours in the past 48 hours... Of course they chose their careers & get paid well for their sacrifices, but think about other people & their families for once, before you say something soooo insensitive.

If you think you can do it any better, how about you trying. My nephew along with others have worked 24 hours straight to restore power!!!!!The least you could do is be thankful. Have you ever thought about offering them something to eat or drink, didn't think so? Do you think that is very safe? Well if you do you are crazy! Yeah that is the profession he chose, but working with electricity is dangerous and especially working without sleep! Be glad you have people willing to do that kind of work.

Yes,,,maybe you could go to GA POWER and still not be on today. That would be a great idea!! I'm SURE SRE wishes you could have a choice too!

yes, they do get paid.and, yes they chose their job BUT have you ever thought that maybe they make those sacrifices because they care about their community and want to help as much as they can. the men that are out fixing YOUR power are risking being electrocuted, or falling from a pole or truck, no matter what the weather. they go out whether rain, sleet, snow, shine, windy, whatever!!!selfish selfish selfish

#4.1 I aint no bear so where do you get off calling someone who believes in working hard any kind of names???? You probably don't work so you wouldn't know what its like to do without because you are riding on the taxpayers back. This world could do with a change in peoples attitude about being entitled and if you don't work you don't eat maybe then we wouldn't have the obesity problem.And maybe also you wouldn't be able to keep breeding these welefare babies.

Do you not pay yours? Or do you depend on the government (actually the citizens who work for a living) to support you? There is no pride in that. However, there is pride in working a hard day to support your family.

My goodness, people. So all it takes to make people turn on each other is to lose power due to a storm? Suddenly neighbors are calling names and saying to kiss body parts? Look, thank you to all who work for a living from the cashier who stands on her feet, the roofer who shovels tar in July, and everyone else. I wish I had a job to complain about.
