The Lamar County commission was forced to reject the lone bid it got for remodeling the tax commissioner's office.

We could treat this project like habitat for humanity and have volunteers from the county come out and help on the weekends to do some of the work. Just an idea.

The Tax/Tag Office is the most disorganized supposedly "business" office I patronize in Lamar County.
Several of the women there are rude and very impatient. They DON'T communicate with the Assessors Office. Questions: What is with all the "homemade" signs stuck everywhere? Why are the desks cluttered with family mementos and photos? Why do they need a "drive thru" window? Why? ....
Do they give "fries with an order"?

It seemed to me some remodeling has already happened. Is that NEW carpet that hasn't been stretched properly? Carpet looks fine to me and doesn't need further. Get the junk off the counters and they might see "new" counter tops. Waste of money on that joint. BTW: The "successful bidder" probably will have some connection to a family member of the commission. Can you say...mmmm...ma...mmmm..mat...?

I can't find any information on Barnesville Construction Company on the Secretary of State website. I wonder if they are in compliance with the law?

I love our Tag office!! I've NEVER had a problem out of anyone that works there. It has always been an easy process and they've always been nice to me in the past 18 years.

No, that's not true! The reason this didn't go through is because she DIDN'T get more than ONE BID and no one else had the opportunity to bid. So is the going by the book?

I don't work there you idiots. I don't have any personnel acquaintance with anyone in the tag office.

They've always been very nice, courteous and helpful every time I've been in there in the past 18 years.

I had to go in there yesterday and I was in and out in 10 minutes.

I don't know how you could have a problem with the tag office. When you grow up and move to the big city you'll miss the tag office that took care of business in a friendly and timely manor!! But of course you Sh#theads would have problem no matter what!!

The BOC approved this,not the Tax Commissioner.

My only concern is why did a company submit a bid, yet there was not an advertisement, that I can recall, requestion bids?
I feel the Grand Jury needs to look at what is going on, and request that the DA indite those involved. No matter what their status is.

To all you people out there you just need to go by the Library and pull the Lamar County Code Book and look up the section for the Purchasing Policy that was adopted by the Commissioners back in the 90's that they have to adhere to it no matter if it is General Funds or SPLOST Funds. You will get your answers then. I bet they never mailed out or even advertised in the local newspaper and they have to be sealed when returned to the Commissioners Office for all County Offices.

Well I went in there today and was not greeted, no one could be bothered to look at me, or acknowledge I was even in the building.
I don't know about anyone else, but if I'm going to hand you my money, how about a little greeting and "how can I help you"?
Common courtesy.
I'm very disappointed. Maybe a change in staff is due. There are certainly enough people out there looking for jobs.
