BBQ & Blues '11 all about the women

Women in the Blues will be the theme of the 7th annual BBQ & Blues Festival that gets underway here Thursday, April 21 with a kickoff party at United Bank downtown.

Cook teams will arrive that afternoon and Barnesville will be filled with barbecue smoke and smoking hot blues.

Event should not have been scheduled for Easter weekend.

The event is held on the 4th weekend every april. Easter is not like other holidays where its always the same time. We picked this weekend because it only hits on Easter every 5 years. Also, when you start a sactioned event there are only a few weekend, you can choose from according to the FBA (Florida BBQ Assoc.) So understand, we did not pick this weekend to ruin your Easter. By the way, its over on Sat. night.

I am so stoked about BBQ & Blues! I agree, however, that it should not have been planned on Easter weekend... we typically bring the kids Fri night and have a parents' night out on Sat... bummer we will miss Sat night this year!

Please look at your calendars Easter does not stay the same weekend every year. Last year Easter was the first weekend of April. The festival has no control over falling on Easter they had to pick the same weekend every year to remain consistant with BBQ teams and planning..

Went to this event once and didn't see anything worth making me come back again. Same thing year after year just like Buggy Days. Same ole people riding around on golf carts and drinking beer. Kinda sad if thats the way you choose to spend your Easter weekend!

Geez people, get over it! Is it really that big of a deal or are some of you just incapable of making a decision whether or not to go or stay at home because it's Easter weekend? If you don't want to go then don't go! If you don't like bbq or blues music, don't go! If it is going to interfere with your Easter plans, don't go! If you are afraid you will get too drunk and not be able to make it to church on Easter morning, again, don't go! No one is forcing anyone to go! If you can't go and have a good time and enjoy the music and go to church the next morning like a responsible adult, keep your tail at home! And porky, since your such an expert on how to spend Easter weekend, what do you suggest people do this weekend? Did you ever think that maybe not everyone celebrates Easter and that is certainly their right not to, just as it is your right to celebrate it.
BBQ and Blues is an Awesome Festival! I hope all that attends has a great time and remember, be safe!! Oh, and Happy Easter to all!

They should rename it to BBQ, Blues & Crucifixion Festival, that way everyone will be happy!

I would venture to guess that the BBQ calendar is during the same weekend every year and Easter is the holiday that hops around (forgive me for that).
Nonetheless, I fail to see how a person can't manage to listen to music, buy a Coke and a snack, then go home to get a good night's sleep and attend church the next morning.

We choose to spend Good Friday celebrating life by eating bbq and drinking beer. Jesus and his disciples eat bread and drank wine, so what better way to celebrate Easter. We also substituted donkeys for golf carts. Happy Easter!

I haven't gone yet but I think I will attend this year and eat some Barbeque. Which means I will be up all night writhing in pain but it will be worth it. Are there different types of BBQ or just one place to buy it or how does it work? Is it very expensive? Do you pay to attend of just if you buy food or drink?

Its free to attend on Friday night and sat. during the day. The Blues concert on Sat cost $10, I believe. As far as the BBQ, there will be multiple venders as well as teams that compete and sell.

Hey out of towners, dont listen to "out of towner" come on to Barnesville this weekend to see why its the best town in the south... And "out of towner" since your out of town, maybe you should stay there

Don't tell me nothing bout Easter cause I'm my own man and don't need no saving! I'll drink this weekend and freek it out with the rest of the b-ville partiers!
