The biggest difference between this guy and alot of us is that thankfully, there wasn't a blog site that made everything public knowledge when we were growing up. Magnesium & a steel pipe are pretty common items on a construction site. The magnesium powder found in the "bomb" is most likely used for cadwelding copper to copper and copper to steel for grounding purposes. Most fence post are grounded in this application around alot of construction sites especially electrical substations. The actual cadwelding occurs when the powder is ignited into a form. So for a young construction guy to want to experiment with the cadweld and what it would do outside of its original purpose isn't unheard of. We use to do it all the time and it doesn't blow up like a bomb. Secondly, I think when he was asked what he was going to do with it, he got a little cute with it and said he was going to blow up watermelons. Everyone in Ga knows watermelon vines aren't even planted this time of year. I could be wrong but unless this guy was making some serious accusations of making a bomb to go blow some people up, he is most likely some poor young fellow who is getting a good life lesson on the power of the information super highway & how serious law enforcement is in 2011 about bombs.

WTF was he thinking? Magnesium is an incendiary, not too good by itself. Now if he had added some ______ _______ , ___ ____________ _______ , and set it off with a ________ ___.... That would have been one helluva bomb. Besides, have you priced a watermelon lately?
