A 39-year-old Newton County man has been arrested for looting damaged homes and businesses after last Thursday's killer tornado here.

This is UNREAL! This Duke character is a twin image of Larry Waller about 30 years ago. Look at Larry's photo at the news conference last week and his photo is the same as Duke's only years older. Amazing!

I have noticed that when criminals are presented and everyone has the opportunity to comment, everyone is ready to send them up the road to a lifetime of pain and suffering.

Then they go to court.....

Then those criminals go home with a slap on the wrist and a smile on their face.

Are you all the same people that make up the jury in Lamar or are these other people barking words of dissatisafaction? Things just don't add up.

He needs to be handcuffed to a telephone pole and get a dump truck full of #4 rock similar to those that are on train tracks and sell 12 oz cups of rocks for 10 bucks and let people stone him . This would generate money for the community. I could come up with about 50 bucks to spend and I've got a pretty good arm.

Thanks to my Charter employees who saw this sorry MF stealing. They took pictures of him and his vehicle and turned them in to Major White. He was then arrested stealing more stuff on a different property. Thanks Team for your help in my hometown! Great work!

If them Charter linemen employees were paying attention to their work repairing everyones cable tv line instead of featherbedding up a telephone pole taking photos of citizens, they wouldn't had time to photograph that down and out Bobby Duke while he was picking up a few pieces of scrap metal. I hope he fights this in court. How do we know the scrap didn't blow over here from Alabama? The mixture of mayhem could have belonged to Hot Shot or Mr. Buice or hundreds of other people. One of the schools in Hamilton, GA had a "Wildcat Recycling Center" with over 1500 pounds of aluminum there and the tornado blew a lot of it away. Was Duke helping himself to unclaimed Harris County scrap or some of the Upson County Weems Road scrap metal? Don't be so quick to kick this poor man when he is down. After all, I saw roll off dumpsters at the Hot Shot loaded ready to be dumped in our local landfill. The only difference? The dumpsters were hauled away by someone being paid big bucks. Duke wasn't being paid a red cent. The worst thing that should happen to that poor soul is for the police to issue him a trespass warning and send him on his way to be with his wife and kids. That is the Christian way. He wasn't stealing family jewels, gold, silver or money. He probably saved many flat tires by picking up sharp edged pieces of metal.

You might want to get your facts straight. I know Bobby and he was not arrested while at another property. He turned himself in after being contacted about this. He was on the side of the highway, picking up scrap metal. This was not taking objects from anyone's house or business. Even the warrent says "scrap metal". Don't have proof where it came from, but he was not out stealing anybody's possessions. The warrent in Fulton County was for failing to call in to the office after completing court ordered classes. It was not a "Criminal" warrant.

I know Bobby and this article is wayyyyy out of context. Bobby was driving through Barnesville and saw scrap metal on the side of the road. He stopped and asked a Lamar County Sheriff's deputy if he could pick up the scraps. He was told not on one side of the road, but could take what he wanted on the other. He picked up scrap metal. He was not looting ANY homes or businesses, this was on the side of the highway. He was not arrested at a different location, he turned himeself in to resolve the issue and was bonded out. The warrant from Fulton Co. was for only failing to call in after completing classes. This is in no way an accurate discription of events, and the truth will come out in the end. Unless, of course, he is judged and his character and reputation irrevocably damaged by all of you people who are commenting on something that you know nothing about and have not even attempted to find out the true facts.

I also know Bobby very well. You people should get the whole story before throwing bricks and making threats. He looted nothing but did clean up some scrap metal. I can't blame some people from thinking he might be stealing but you don't know what really happened. His Fulton County warrant was for not following up on a required training class. Fulton County mailed the notice to a 3 year old address when they actually had his current address. That warrant has already been dismissed. Please wait until all the facts are in before condemning anyone. The photo is a typical police photo and makes him look bad. He is really a very gentle person. He was not arrested. He drove to Lamar County and turned himself in to find out what all the fuss was about. He is going thru hell right now and deserves to be heard before being found guilty.

The Truth IS: He wasn't picking up scrap metal on the side of the highway. He was rummaging through the front yard of a property that got all of the gas stations A/C units and gas pumps blown into it. And if he is such a good guy, then he wouldn't of had to lie and tell the gas station owner and the National Guard that he worked with the cable company. He loaded up his truck with all kinds of scrap metals and left to cash in, then came back late in the afternoon to try for more and the National Guard scared him off. Bottom line is, the stuff he was picking up didn't belong to him and he shouldn't be trying to profit off of someone else's misery.

These victims of the torando did not lose their stuff, it was a disaster that caused it to be thrown around. These victims belongings do not belong to me or anyone but the victims. I feel sorry for someone who chooses to take things that do not belong to them, especially in a situation like this. All of these victims would probably be grateful to have just an ounce of their stuff back. Its not right for anyone to try to benefit from all of these victims. Regardless of how well you know this guy, he wasn't on the side of the road. There isn't anywhere to park on the side of the road at this property. He had pulled into the driveway and was picking through the yard. If you know where this incident took place, you would know, that there is a deep ditch next to the road and it would be impossible for him to get anything from there. The owners of the property saw him in THEIR driveway, picking up things out of THEIR yard.

If he did not work at the present time for a cable company in Barnesville, then he lied by intentional omission to whoever he told that. There is only one reason to lie through omission or make deceptive statements. That is when a person knows he is doing something wrong and thinks he is caught.

FYI, He did work for Charter a.k.a. (Tucker Communications) ....Charter has different branches...I think this guy was based out of the Covington Office. Whether he was 'looting' or not is another story.
