Deputies working Hwy. 36 fatality; victim identified

A body was found near a wrecked vehicle on Hwy. 36 East early Sunday. The male victim was ejected and dead at the scene. The car bore Upson County plates.

Deputy coroner Cindy Killingsworth released the name of the victim Sunday afternoon.

I find it interesting that the state found the money to upgrade Hwy 36 with a wider road and passing lanes between Barnesville and Thomaston but all Hwy 36 gets between Barnesville and I75 is a lot of yellow lines and grooves on the center lane. This part of 36 is more treacherous, more congested and gets additional trucking from the interstate. Go figure?? How many more deaths will it take before the state takes it seriously?

Sad. My prayers are with the family of this young man. There do seems to be high number of fatalites on HWY 36 East. I can name about five off the top of my head. :(

Well, when they decided to widen 36,,, there was industry in Thomaston calling for the widening. Now the industry is gone...and all WE get is some speed bumps in the middle of the road. Just shows you WHO the guvment listens to.

they didn't find the car til the morning when a passerby saw it.. the man was ejected from the car... no telling if he died on impact or succumbed to his injuries from laying there...

There are no words to explain what I'm feeling about yet another young man The Dixon Family has lost due to a car accident. My heart aches all over again b/c of our loss. My prayers are with the parents and the extended family.
