As a small business owner, I wholeheartedly agree with your statements regarding appropriate dress while going for an interview. In fact, one should lose the nose ring and such when simply picking up the application. Remember the old saying about first impressions?
So many times I have seen people come in for an app wearing flip flops and bermuda shorts! I've seen applications that look like my third grader filled out (actually, he probably could do a better job of it). I've had people come in for an app that were drunk. And people wonder why they can't get a job?
When one is looking for a job, one should look the part. No one expects a person to wear their Sunday best when job hunting, but even just a little professionalism can go a long way.
How does it work if full time employed individuals are not paid a living wage? Do we pay for college educated trash collectors? College educated bus drivers?
The biggest mistake is to assume that everyone who is on public assistance is unemployed.
Thank you Walter for stating something that the taxpaying citizens are all to afraid to say. All to often I have to wait on customers who pay $20 for one salad while at times I only have $20 to stretch to buy a weeks worth of groceries. Or they pay for deli trays and bakery cakes with EBT while I go hungry. The system is really broke when the welefare people live and eat better than the people who do an honest days work.
I know for a fact that alot of the people that I work with earn as much if not more than I do, are married, don't have children at home or are not married and still living at home with their parents but they get EBT cards. EBT cards should only be given to people who have children that need them.
STOP THE ENTITLEMENTS!!!!!!!!! And make the people who don't want to work go hungry. I have no sympathy for an able bodied person who would choose to go hungry rather than work.
If you are hungry, you could cancel your internet connection. I agree with what Mr. Geiger has written but, Mr. Pot, let us be careful not to call the kettle black.
You are the pot calling the kettle black. Because I have never been on the entitlement train because I have more respect for myself than to take what aint mine. I work everyday to buy the things I have and I'll be damned if they have a right to take it away. I have protection and I aint afraid to use it!!!!
I also aint hungry because I know how to stretch my dollar. Do You? If you get ebt you don't have to worry to much about how you much you waste.
Hmmmm, let's go back to post # 3. You said, or someone said,
"Or they pay for deli trays and bakery cakes with EBT while I go hungry"
You said you went hungry, I did not. I did respond to your statement and I stand by that response. If you are hungry, you could cancel your internet connection.
A wage that is sufficient to support basic needs (rent/mortgage, car pmt, car insurance, health insurance, utilities, groceries, gas, clothing, etc. - do the math for the standard of living in this area) believe it or not, some people working 40 hours a week can barely afford the necessities..that is why supplements such as food stamps and medicaid are important. Not everyone is college material and I certainly dont want to pay for all of my services to be provided by college educated individuals.
Maybe the ones who get EBT cards should cancell their internet service, their beauty shop appoints, their cellphone service and go back to using clothe diapers, instead od disposable diapers. If you can't get a job then you have all the time in the world to cook a decent meal at home. and you could also wash your baby's sh-ty diapers instead of filling the landfill with them.
I know cell phones are given to welefare people. In my opinion cell phones are not a necessity and should not be paid for by the taxpayer. Only if you are elderly and are a shut in (which means that you have no way of getting around) should you have a free phone. I just amazes me that the people on welefare live better than the ones paying the taxes.
These problems start at the local level and go right on up to the president. Now we focus on moronic ideas that will hit the middle class even harder, like "fair tax", while those at the very top and very bottom get all the breaks. While our country bleeds jobs and money overseas, we worry about cell phones and deli trays.
Its not about the deli trays or cellphones its truly about the people who think that the world owes them something that they did not earn. It is about the government spending money that the taxpayers pay to make sure that the people on welefare have what they want whether or not the person who is working and paying taxes has anything or not.
