It is a shame the chamber and the party crowd and the bank would not support BENEFEST. Those that did support it, had a great time and were actually able to do so without being fueled by alcohol.
The great thing about this event is that if you want a beer, its there. If you don't want one then you then don't drink. There will be cokes and waters there as well. The fact is that most people who go to concerts enjoy drinking a beer or two. If you don't believe me ask the how many people attended BENEFEST.
People will pay $10 to go to a drunkfest and not care where the money is going but they won't pay $10 to go to a clean, wholesome, entertaining event that is put on as a fundraiser to help people in need.
This is what is wrong with our society.
What exactly does the Chamber of Commerce do with the money they make from these events?
Thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday. I pray God makes it happen.
Here's the bottom line, I enjoy drinking beer at concerts. I gave 2 days of my time to he clean up peoples property as well as donated money. So just because I didn't go to a concert doesn't mean that I didn't care or help. By the way, I want you to pray everyday for rain, that way we'll have beautiful weather. I'm sure God enjoys a good cold beer at Concerts also.
Honestly, I think I can speak for everyone that lives in town.. Enough of all of it!!!! I can't ever have company over or enjoy a weekend out by the pool or deck because of all the stupid music going on. It annoying sometimes. I have even had to turn the volume up on the TV because I cannot even hear it in my own house. Cops are so worried about handing out music violations but they don;t do a thing about that crap. It is disturbing the peace!!!! Ten bucks to get in? I have not heard ANY music up town that I would pay ten cents for much less ten dollars. Come on Barnesville where does the money go any way. Hey cops, how bout them disturbing the peace? It is getting so ridiculous.
Excuse me, but that music was you heard were from bands that did these events for no money.
All the donations that were made went to help tornado victim's, but they were probably not a whole lot of money raised being that barnesville people could care less about others.
I hope the next storm doesn't throw your precious tv upside down, what would you do if next time it tore your house completely down?
Just asking, have you made any donations for the victim's, such as clothing, food, time to go and help clean up? Oh probably not since you love your tv so much. God bless those that came out to benefest and to the ritz, I myself had a great time with master blaster, ladycreech and her band mainstreet, and also casper and the 911 band. These bands performed for no alcohol or money and everybody had a fabulous time. So sorry you couldn't hear your tv,next time maybe you should come and show some support!
I live in the town and you are not speaking for me. Thank you to all the people who bring activities such as this to our town!

The question remains, what does the Chamber actually do with the funds it receives from the concerts and beer sales it promotes? I've never sueen anyone actually have an answer to that qestion. Benefit and fundraiser events I have no problem with but I'd like to know where the money goes when the Chamber hosts an event.
It goes to the people on T-street. The whole street take the money and go on an all inclusive trip to the Islands and party it up for two weeks. We don't make quite enough so the city and county throw in some money as well. I love living on T-street.
Why are we having so many of these concerts lately? Do they have to do all of them downtown? I live in the city limits and I don't remember giving anybody permission to disturb my peace. Maybe the people at City Hall need me to bang on my son's drums in the public street outside their house at midnight.
I love all this live music. Beer or no beer. All these concerts just show that we all sorts of musically talented people locally and they need a stage hone and showcase their craft on. I wish we had more venues and more live music so as to make my fellow music lovers happy while not impeding upon the peace and quiet of those who don't care for it.
Does the city have to pay overtime to police and clean-up crews for all of these events? If so, how much does the chamber collect in revenue vs what it cost to hold these events?
I have given plenty to the tornado victims. In fact, my husband and my children and I all gave clothes food and money. Take the crappy music somewhere else please. I hope no one gets a music violation ticket in their cars during all the stupid so called concerts. At least wse only hear their music for a second while they are riding down the street. We have to listen to this crap all night and all freakin dang weekend. And oh what nest, Summer Sizzle, Another LOUD Ass beer drinkin event this weekend. Where are the cops when they are disturbing MY PEACE??? I pay taxes too. I have the right to a QUIET neighborhood!!!!! But yes to you above, we are looking to move elsewhere. It cant happen soon enough. Hopefully before the "BUGGY DAYS" We are moving far away from Lamar Co. Pike Co. don't play this crap. They will never allow it. Sounds like a nice county to go too. At least we will have some damn peace and quiet!!!!
I think they should start doing these concerts in the Library parking lot. Put some bleachers out there and let all the T-street drunks have at it! Enough at Ritz Park. For all of us on that side of town, it's just annoying.
Good idea movin the venue location. I almost ran over a couple drunks on a golf cart pullin out of the post office last year. Forsyth St. is a busy road.
It is mandatory for the police to be at these events and there is nothing that they can do about the noise. I am sure they would rather be somewhere else. Why doesnt the chamber pay for the security? Especially since this seems to be turning into a monthly event.
