As reported here earlier, the man who allegedly robbed United Bank on Main Street in Barnesville this morning has been identified by authorities as 45-year-old Leonard William Willis of 10958 Reading Rd. in Jacksonville, Fl.

Even more of a reason for ppl to excersise your 2nd ammendment rights. If i were to have been in that bank when it happened i wouldnt have hesitated to pull my Glock on him. Now if he was waiving a weapon around that would have been a different story but there was no gun brandished. I would have had to go back to the drawing board and go a different route. Carry carry carry. This could happen when you are getting gas or paying for it somewhere or in ingles or giantmart. Go get your permit and get a good gun.

Good work officers and bank staff. Hopefully the word will get around that bank robbers get caught in Barnesville since the man who robbed First National was arrested too.

I tried to find statistics on how many people are saved by guns vs. the number of people accidently killed, but there were so many discrepancies I concluded it depends on who you ask. Of course, the NRA and other such groups must provide statistics to support their causes. Mainly, to keep them in business.

I personally don't know anyone who was actually saved by having a gun, but I know several who were injured or killed accidently. I'm just sayin'...

Innocent people could have been killed by the bank robber too. Look at the Virginia Tech shooting. If one person had been carrying, several of the 33 killed might be alive today. Fact is, that guy KNEW he'd have the only gun there, making that campus an easy target. Look at the church shooting in, what, Colorado? Off duty policewoman took the shooter out, saving lives. I say, gun control is being able to hit your target. Just my two cents worth....

Everyone talks about how they would pull their gun out and start shooting. Sounds easy -- but training is the key. I carry a gun but I also make sure that I practice and I have been through three handgun safety courses. The first time you need a gun shouldn't be the first time you have ever fired it. Any cop will tell you, it all goes back to training. It just pops back in your head and kinda leads you along. Sounds silly but its true. Firing a gun in a crowded bank is not the same as shooting at cans in your granny's backyard.

I know several people where having a gun saved their life.

One thing that anyone should know when planning to buy a weapon for protection. If you carry, never pull the weapon unless you plan to use it. And if you do pull it, use it, or the person will likely take it from you and use it against you.

If you don't have what it takes to use a weapon, don't carry one. Those are the ones who usually get hurt. If you do get one, learn to use it and pratice with it often.

Target shooting is also a fun sport.
