I love the Trojans and I will be in attendance tonight! Win, lose or draw, Jason Strickland has our support and our thanks for running such a great program. The lean years come and go and we have had our share of thin times so it feels good to be near the top. Roll on Big Blue!
I'd like to know who is responsible for the run-through sign the cheerleaders had at tonight's game that said "We Love and Miss you Coach Condon". I am of the opinion that the run through sign is to promote OUR team, NOT to send a message to a coach of the other team. Coach Condon chose to leave Lamar and become a part of the Upson-Lee staff. We are LAMAR!
Nice job against Upson men. We can tell you've worked hard and we appreciate your effort. Lets not forget though, we beat up on a pretty good Henry Couunty team in pre-season last year and lost our first game to Bleckley. It's going to be tough down below the gnat line in two weeks but if you continue to work hard and believe you can have the best season ever.
Don't know about cute, but he is one heckuva coach. Can you believe there is at least one board member that wants to run him off? The guy comes in here and takes a program that was dead and buried and resucitated it finishing second in the region and making the playoffs the last two years and it looks like this year's team may be his best yet. People here don't appreciate a good thing when they have it. They certainly don't support it the way it should be.

One of the reasons I love being from Barnesville...Friday night, Lamar County High School traveled to Thomaston for a pre-season football scrimmage with Upson-Lee High School. Prior to the game, the stadium announcer had everyone stand for the National Anthem. After a few minutes of silence and garbled noise coming from the loud speakers, the announcer declared that there would be no Anthem. As the fans started to sit down and get ready for football action, a group of Lamar County fans started singing the Anthem. Pretty soon everyone in the stands on Lamar County's side was standing and singing LOUDLY and PROUDLY. The song could be heard clearly throughout the stadium and everyone there took notice. When it was over, the Upson-Lee fans gave the Lamar County fans a standing ovation for their efforts. To put the icing on the cake, the Trojans beat the Knights 37-0. I love this town!!!
Actually, my entire family as well as a lot of people here in Lamar love Coach Condon. I personally am saddend at him leaving and thing the board should of counter offered that deal so we could keep him in our spacial needs program. I'm not familiar with his position as a coach other than knew he was a football coach as well as an awesome teacher. The students have every right to show that. I wouldn't of thought it as anything more than a gesture that they miss him.
I'm sure he's a good guy and teacher and coach and people miss him. But I just dont think the team run through sign is the place for that type of message. Make seperate signs, go hug his neck, etc etc but dont say hello to an opposing coach on your own team's sign.
Support our own team and not the coach from another team. If the coach chose to leave he obviously didn't feel the same way about Lamar County. His offense was no good anyway!
You know it is his girlfriend (that is a cheerleaders' coach for LC and a LCES teacher) that did that crap. Very tacky and immature. Not the time or the place for that. If they (his former special education students) missed him, then they could give him a call or hug. They were definitely not the ones responsible just his girlfriend.
I don't know about him being a heckuva coach - I'm with the board members. He needs to hit the road and get someone with more successful experience as a head coach. He has gotten some really good players, not so much his coaching ability.
That's not true...look out how the team was so many years before him. There is always potential in the players, but it is how the coach molds them into being the best players they can be. We did not have that before. You are either the former head coach or Condon making this ridiculous remark. Which board members? Start naming names if you want to throw that in there... That's the problem - some commenter wants to add "at least one board member wants him gone" as some sort of factual comment, but unless you name names then it means nothing.
when "scan the man" was around the team only won maybe 10 games,in the past two years they have won 14 and made the playoffs twice, noone has done that since wilson who made the playoffs I know 4 years running.strickland is running a great program with discipline and chracter, exactly what it takes to have a winning program. i still "try" and live buy what my head coach mark wilson instilled in us.the three c's class, character and commitment.
