Trojan fans sing out for America

One of the reasons I love being from Barnesville...Friday night, Lamar County High School traveled to Thomaston for a pre-season football scrimmage with Upson-Lee High School. Prior to the game, the stadium announcer had everyone stand for the National Anthem. After a few minutes of silence and garbled noise coming from the loud speakers, the announcer declared that there would be no Anthem. As the fans started to sit down and get ready for football action, a group of Lamar County fans started singing the Anthem. Pretty soon everyone in the stands on Lamar County's side was standing and singing LOUDLY and PROUDLY. The song could be heard clearly throughout the stadium and everyone there took notice. When it was over, the Upson-Lee fans gave the Lamar County fans a standing ovation for their efforts. To put the icing on the cake, the Trojans beat the Knights 37-0. I love this town!!!

If everyone still WANTS this, WHO said it wouldn't be done? It seems this is going on everywhere. A few people are trying to stop what most people want. WHY? Whenever this happens, the people need to stand up and fight back to the few who tries to stop them. Just like what happened here.

What are you talking about? It's not like people were protesting and refusing to play the national anthem. The Upson Lee press box was apparently having technical problems and could not get it to play. The LC fans stepped up and sang the national anthem instead. Quit trying to start something.

I'm not sure what game you were at Mary but it must not have been the Upson/Lamar game because I was one of the proud Trojan fans that we singing our National Anthem and I can a sure you that this did happen!

I have to agree, Mary, you must have came in late. I was one of the proud Upson-Lee fans singing along with the Lamar fans...It was really great guys, thanks for helping us out! Never know when those technical difficulties will jump up and get ya!! I hope you guys win your region...good game...

I can assure that this most definately happened. I was there way before the game started and was totally surprised and proud of our Lamar Fans when they begun to sing, it was absolutely amazing. So sorry you had to miss such a wonderful thing, but I assure you that this is no lie!!

i wasn't there but usually when the national anthem is being played the football team is in the locker room.why would all these people lie?are you from thomston take your butt whooping and have a great season.

When you "adults" finish this very important argument, what kind of prize will the winners take home, and how will it be split? The children are watching. By the way, from reading all the comments, I would say the intelligent conclusion would be that a group of students (maybe band members) started singing. Maybe others heard them and started singing along. I also conclude that some in the stadium didn't hear them for various reasons.Therefore, for some, it absolutely happened, and for others it didn't. It's over. The argument is moot. Move on to more important things in your lives where if you do have to argue, at least it will have a real effect on your existance. Thank you , now what do I win?

Actually we are usually in the locker room but friday we wasn't and it really is no big deal about it we still won so who cares but like you said if they did sing it it was low big deal move on we will go on to win more games hopefully we win this region
