A Lamar County man has been arrested in connection with a Monroe County assault that left the victim in critical condition.

lets get the story straight, mr crook is 68 and he was not struck in the head with an unknown object. mr giles broke his back, broke his neck,broke 3 ribs, then tried to kill him by stabbing him in the side of the head with a steak knife. mr crook bled from the wound due to a severed artery for 35 mins til rescue arrived...........

Hope the man who took the blow to the head survives. Or Mr. Giles is in BIIIIG trouble.
Wonder if alcohol was involved.

The first thing on so many people's minds when an altercation occurs is - Be Stupid –

Often times, but not always, it is from people that have not learned to be responsible for themselves due to the government handouts.

Mr. Giles is not rich by no means and...there is always 3 sides to story. Yours, his and the truth. The truth will come out.

Unfortunately, rumors get started and out of hand. People should stick to facts and need to remember that folks are still innocent until proven guilty in this country.

The facts are a bit unclear. Mr Crook was not hurt bad. I heard he had a bruse on his knee and a bump on his head. Mr giles was trying to help and was charged with cussing the police. So unless you were there and party to the actions you are not the one to tell us what who and how it came about.

Mr Crook was a very small man, I am in shock. I wish Cliff would have never started drinking again... I sure hope alcohol was not involved and I pray Mr Crook recovers...

If so, he always was honest and seemed very level headed and low key.

bumps and bruises was not the case.... the man has broken ribs, a broke back and was stabbed in the head.. and you are saying that the facts are unclear because "you heard" ... you didnt see... What he did was wrong. No matter what either side of the story was... He is a grown man there is no we need to know both sides to know who was right.. what he did was wrong.. The man has not even came to his senses yet and is still in intensive care unconscious. So why dont you get your facts straight and quit defending a guilty man ...

I just don't understand why everytime something is in this newspaper of a crime happening somebody starts screaming about government handouts... I have known Mr. Giles my whole life and he has never had any help from the government... He ran his own business a million dollar one at that... not saying that he is the most sane person in the world because he is not. But its just crazy that people always yelling about government handouts caused this... ignorant people.

Mr. Giles is the best man I have ever known, this story has more to it, so no one should pass judgment until they know the true story or was actually there! There is only one that can judge you in the end.

more too it... yea drugs and alcohol ... if you only knew what the best man you ever known has been doing in his past.. and yes there is no one who can judge you till the end ... but this isnt a judgement this is the truth coming out TOO YOU about who he really is because we already knew who he was and that this day was coming. we didnt judge him he showed us who he was a long time ago ... oh and if no one can pass judgement then maybe you should teach that to the best man you ever known because he is the most judgmental person i have ever known... (how do you turn your back on a child..) or disown family members or screw family out of money... and the person saying all these defensive comments probably is his cooperate secretary... Agreed, the only intelegent thing you have said is that you hope Mr. Crook makes it and he is in your prayers, so maybe you should just stick to that, instead of preaching about "not" shaming your family in a public forum.

It seems that everyone is worried about the wrong thing here Mr.Crook is a good friend of mine and in this situation the only thing that people should be worried about is his health and well being who cares what happens to Mr. Giles a good person does not do this to someone all I ask is that peeple keep Mr.Crook in thier prayers

I worked for him at the Red Rooster just before it closed. He is a shady businessman. A racist and it extremely rude. This type of behavior doesn't surprise me one bit coming from him. I hope they throw the book at him, and he rots behind bars. Stupid bigot! I just hope that poor old man is ok.

I agree with you there he is very shady about his business and is one of the biggest racist i know... if people only heard the comments he makes about other races... not trying to be rude but this doesnt surprise me either ... i read the comments up above and i dont understand how people are getting mad because one of his family members seems to be speaking the truth... look what he did to mr. crook .... It is embarrassing to there family because his reputation is going to be throwed off to the hole giles family and for the people who instantly judge people will think of that family as being like him... I worked for him a while back ... i did some work here and some work there and I ended up having to quit because of the racist comments he made... i couldnt take it (my daughter is mixed... He had a temper from hell too... This man needs some serious help... maybe God can show him something to ease all of that anger inside of him... I have both of them in my prayers... But for the ones who are defending mr. giles should be ashamed of yourselves ... this man tried to take a life and if that comment up top is true that he did pass away then he did take a life... all because of what? For the ones who were speaking the truth about mr giles ... i wont not say anything bad towards you because i know deep down that you probably have been through something with him and i dont see you having these thoughts for no reason.. that wouldnt make sense to me... let the ones defending him keep defending him because it shows where there heart lies with the lord... I absolutely agree with you ... i wasnt defending mr. Giles on what he did on that.. it just so many people blame government handouts for things people do and it dont be the case at all ... MR giles is a messed up person... trust me on everything i wasnt defending him ... Mr. crook has been in my prayers everyday and i believe that allllllll of mr giles earnings should be handed over to the crooks... thats what should happen ...
