Earthquake shakes up social media users

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered in northern Virginia occurred at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, causing buildings to mildly shake across the northeast United States.

I live in Chesapeake, VA and it was the craziest thing I had ever experienced. It was like ripple went across the cement floor and the walls were moving. Thankful it wasn't any worse, however, freaked out to say the least!

I was on the third floor of the IC building at Gordon College when it happened. The whole building was swaying back and forth. Some teachers and students started to leave, but then we all came back after it stopped :(....

I was in the bathroom when the shaking started. Geeze it was hard to hit the bowl when that happened.

My daughter is stationed in Norfolk. They have been working on her ship up in Yorktown today.Trying to contact her to see if they felt movement while working on the ship.

That shaking was Not for Obama,LOLOLOL! Those were Maxine's words reverberating thru the east coast....and to hell they will go! Gods got Maxine's back. Now watch the Hurricane move, just like that tornado.

of course she would feel movement, cats. that's what ships are supposed to do. bob up and down, wash side to side. ships are sitting on water...unless they are drydocked...only then an earthquake could be felt. at least that was the way it was in my 32 years in the navy with half of those years spent at duty stations in california.

We spent 3 years in SoCal, Capn, and I remember those earthquakes well.
I think now I'd need to get my teeth rattled good before an earthquake would register w/ me after living there.
I suppose since the ship is moving anyway, perhaps a little extra sloshing wasn't noticeable.

Wow.....all this trash talk stemmed from an earthquake article. Sad. When the tornadoes went thru Barnesville, I'm sure nobody blamed it on Obama or Bush or some other form of "god", because it happened to you, the people in Barnesville. I totally get that this is an opinion board, but really. It was serious, considering nobody in that region had experienced it before and there's a hurricane on the way too.

I heard it was from a cemetery near middle Virginia where some of our founding fathers were burred. Geologic services told me they thought it might be them turning over in their grave.
