This can be a lesson to anyone about to build a house. This mess is a result of trying to get by cheap. An out-of-town contractor who came in with a very low bid did this. Load bearing walls were not in correct position and they broke many codes. Of course, they got their money and split, leaving this gentleman high and dry.
Always choose a local contractor. They will do a good job or lose out on future business. These out-of-towners could care less. They will just go somewhere else and scr#% another person.
I have some obsolete furniture in my basement and some window accents that would make this old house just pop! My people will contact their people to see how much I can get it for.
The Mansion has been in that state of not being completed for quite some time. I wonder who owns it, and what caused them not to finish the place. It appears to have been alot of square feet, and I gues to heat and cool it would cost a fortune.
All you supporters of that Socialist Obuma take note. If this Socio-Marxist is re-elected, everybody's house will look like this. No available money for upkeep for personal homes. Big O wants to redistribute wealth and give it to his lazy Democraps. Look for tent cities and squalid Section 8 housing to pop up all over the country if he is voted in again in November 2012. Vote Obuma out!
Wasn't the house built under Bubble Boy Bush.
Seems like a fitting symbol for Republicants such as yourself.
Ah the gilded age in which everyone prospers.
Not.
Maybe we should organize some community workdays to lend a hand with getting the house dried in. At least that way it'll be presentable on the outside and he can finish the inside as funds become available. Just a suggestion.
This place is definately an eyesore. It looks as if someone bit off more than they could pay for. It would make me sick to know that I had sunk that much money into something just to sit and watch it become and eyesore. I feel for the person who owns it but it looks as if it will never be finished all the material that is invested in this place has went to ruin. If they want to build the house on this plot they will have to bulldoze this place and start from scratch. Surely they play and spend a lot of money on the lottery they should be able to do something about it.
Are you misinformed or deliberately misleading? The "wealth redistribution" you mention is what--that the top 1% should pay a couple extra percent (which would still leave that at the lowest level in many years and ACTUALLY JUST REINSTATE THE TAX LEVEL PRIOR TO THE BUSH TAX CUTS WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO END A COUPLE YEARS AGO). Now that does not take into account the very low 15% capital gains, which is how many in that bracket generate large percentage of incomes.
Do you really believe the Wall St bankers whose criminal activities have come close to destroying our economy and get multi-million dollar bonues should continue to get a tax break while the real backbone of this country, the working lower and middle classes, continue to pay more and more? Don't you understand it is not the welfare poor that are suffering due to the type of thinking you are supporting, it is those of us who have worked all our lives and try to do the right thing who are getting the shaft. Someone has to pay and it is me, and maybe you (assuming you work or worked and are retired), not the Democrats. By the way, those of us who are working are not only Democrats, we are Republicans too.
Stop listening to the conservative propaganda, (like Fox News) and think about things for yourself. You are saying please keep giving these obscenely wealthy people, a large percentage of whom produce NOTHING for our society (they just make money off pushing paper) should get a break while the regular people like me (and possibly you) who actually work for a living and help create tangible products that benefit society pay more.
The issue is not about the welfare poor getting money from the working low and middle class, the issue is about the working low and middle classes having to sacrifice more so the ultra wealthy can continue to exploit the system and get even wealthier. It is no accident that the wealth gap keeps growing and our economy keeps tanking, it was the same way before the first Great Depression.
If you are one of the 1% mega wealthy, then I apologize in advance. You should be supporting the Republicans who are sticking it to the rest of us.
It has been there a long while for sure. And when I drive by and glance at it, it does make me wonder, and sad at the same time that someone has lost what was perhaps their dream home.
I am so glad to have my questions answered about this place. Such a mystery, the house, the Rolls Royce in the yard with a tarp that slowly rotted away...
As a person who has been ripped off....my kitchen was remodeled by a fine christian local man who left a mess that is still there 4years later......Ican feel the pain and embarrasment. I cannot afford the repair and just have to bear his handiwork daily. I am changing my attitude about this house.
Sure...it does not have anything to do with Rudy Vaughn. I logged into my online subscription and read the whole story and then glanced through it again with me delivered print copy. You should try it...very enlightning :)
I know Milner does not have $10K to bulldoze and remove material, but I bet if a fund was established, many locals would thrown in some bucks to offset this cost. I'd put $25 in the pot to see it go. Just find 400 more people like me and this place is gone.
Why all the interest in Milner's mansion? The place has been sitting there unfinished over six years. The taxes have been paid and the grass is usually cut - what's the fuss?
Am I the only one that actually likes it? It's a fun talking point when newcomers come to Lamar. It's always "Hey look at that huge house that's being built". I always just change the story up. I don't know what really happened, but friends and family all think something different now. Ah, it's the little joys here in Lamar County.
there are a lot worse looking houses in town with trash and such around them why dont you complain about those. at least the mansion is always neat and kept mowed.and may I say it is kept up better than most of our county road shoulders are. That leads to what does our taxes pay our pay for I dont see the mowers or trucks or any of that anymore.do we no have county employees ?
The rumor has it that when Rudy and others got busted, is when the person stop building. Between the contractor mess up and no more money flowing in from the Rudy caper was reason things stop and house sat unfinished.
I love this house I want to paint a picture of the house with the old Roll Royce in the front yard.. this house makes me sad bewildered just looks like a good novel waiting to be written.. interested...Hwy 36 just would not be the same with out that HOUSE..

Why? Burn Training. Barnesville and Lamar County firefighter.
