Butts mega project worries High Falls residents

In regards to this project in Butts and Lamar counties, and the seemingly speed with which zoning was changed, shows me there is nothing new under the sun. Although many "citizens" were present at the commissioners meeting Tuesday night, and voiced there concerns for such a project,of which we don't even know what it will entail,the concerns were pushed aside. Failing to even weigh the validity of the citizens worries and table the vote till next meeting, the commissioners voted to change the zoning. Why? Who knows.


A question I asked two different politicians at two different meeting, one being Wyche Fowler and the other being our own Royce Turner, was this. When you are running for office to "represent" the citizens you are one of us, you hug babies and kiss the mamas drumming up a vote. Once you are elected you are transformed from "us" to "them". So we citizens are left still with no one to represent us. When do you as our elected representative speak for us? Fowler told me in Washington he was closer to the action than I was and he knew what was best. No kidding? Royce never did answer.

So with this vote to change the zoning to placate Butts co commissioners, I see there is nothing new under the sun. It will always be us against them, so long as we allow it to continue.
