The Smith family is missing two dogs. Nestle, a chocolate Lab, and Takka, a Husky, were last seen Wednesday near Berry Rd. and Hwy. 36W. A reward is offered. If you have seen the dogs, call Jason Smith at 770.584.8606.
I know we have coyotes around that area, but this is ridiculous... I have know too many dogs to go "missing" in the last couple of months from that area including mine... Here one day and gone the next with no sight at the pound... Maybe there is more to it like someone is taking these dogs... Just a thought!
I am so sick of neighbors letting their dogs roam and espeially late at night and not being able to let our little puppy out to do his business. If you want pets please take care of them and not let them go thru trash or bully our puppy. We keep ours from roaming the roads so it is up to you to do the same. I hate to call the pound cause trust me they don't come out. I called them few months ago because of a stray and still haven't seen them out.
I hope you find your pets alright. There is no lease law in to county so the pound will not and are not allowed to come out to pick up strays. Last year we installed a fence around our house so that my dogs would not roam. there are other peoples dogs that come onto our property (but have not been a nusince) at least I know that if I let my fur babies out that they won't be harmed by larger dogs. I hate people that are cruel to animals and I feel that they should be punished for animal cruelty after all dogs don't know property lines. I have a large dog that is still alive after being shot with bird shot pellets several years ago just because they were roaming. She is now fifteen years old I love my old dog and will truly miss her when shes gone.
You have the mentality that the dogs are responsible for straying because they don't know better. WRONG. The owner is responsible for their animal straying. The OWNER has the responsiblity to make sure the dog doesn't get off their own property.
Build a fence, or keep the dog indoors and only let it out if YOU are out there with it. No leash law does not mean you aren't responsible for the safety of your own pet.
If you aren't going to be responsible, find someone else to love and care for your dog.
What an idiotic statement. If your dog is not on YOUR property, it is STRAYING. It is a STRAY.
It is subject to being to shot by the owner of the property it has STRAYED onto.
You people that think that just because a county has no leash law means you can let your dogs do whatever they want are idiots.
Dogs that stray go missing every deer season. Don't you know why? Or are you that idiotic? They are being SHOT by the deer hunter that has every right to shoot the dog for STRAYING onto his or her land.
The pound will pick up animals out in the county. As a matter of fact, we had a friend who had one in their yard that they were taking care of and had found someone to adopt the puppy. Apparently someone called the pound and they came over to their house and picked it up. When they went to the pound to pick it up...they wanted them to pay for it. Really? They only had the puppy a couple of hours and wanted them to pay to get it out. They told them they had no right to take the dog out of their yard in the first place. Well, after a lot of phone calls, they finally released the puppy back at no cost. Geesh! The guy at the pound even told one of the little girls that went to pick it up that they would be watching out for the puppy and would make sure they got it back. Who says something like that to a child?
Mean? Maybe.
Right? YES.
I love my pets and they aren't outside if I'm not with them. It makes me mad for anyone to assume their pet can do whatever it wants and they aren't responsible.
The person that shoots the dog isn't responsible for anything other than protecting his/her property. The dog's owner is responsible for making sure it's safe at home.
just an FYI, the people that run the pound are jacka$$e$... I have known them to phyiscally remove an animal from it's own yard with out the owner knowing... then when the owner is looking and goes to pound they have to pay and are cited... BS
my father is one of the dog catchers for the county.i cant speak for all of the dog catchers, but my dad loves animals, and even had to leave our thanksgiving dinner to pick up a dog cause it was a threat to a child. FYI.. the county does not pick up animals from their home, unless requested by the owner or if the welfare of an animal or human is in danger. if an animal has been removed from its own property there is a reason. as for the fee...if a stray is picked up there isnt a fee, but if you just get tired of your pet and decide to call the pound then yes you will be charged,if a stray is picked and later the owner decides to get it from the pound then yes the owner will be charged. if you own a dog and it leaves your property it is straying therefore making it a STRAY. they dont just drive around looking for animals to pick up, they go when someone calls in about it. and if your animal is straying it is YOUR responsibility to keep them on your property. and for the comment about the pound taking over a month to come out there...there are incidents in example when a dog is brought in with parvo, the pound then has to be sprayed down, cleaned, and quarantined until the state inspects it and gives the ok for the pound to reopen. this is done to keep animals safe from getting sick and dying. and if the pound is full, then they cannot pick up anymore animals, there are regulations to how many animals can be held there. If someone comes in your yard and tries to get your pet and you havent called them, then please get a description and call the pound, because it might be someone impersonating as a city/county dog catcher.
