So, I guess you miss the part about mercy. Just because some one deserves something, does not mean we have to always give it to them. What if you got everything you deserved? Or your loved ones? I am not saying he should not be punished, but consequence need to be tempered with mercy if it is in our power to do so.

And, since we are throwing around scripture to suit our own ends, Romans 12:19-21 reads:

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (KJV)
