Except for a little cleanup work, the Lamar County tax assessors office has completed its revaluation of all properties despite a 27% budget reduction in 2011.

Folks get this; the county has scrapped the plans of building a state of the art fire station next to the jail. Now they are going to build that same building onto the county water building out on 36 Hey. What about the money already spent on the property by the jail. Now you wonder why the county finances are in shambles. Tax payers screwed again.

From what I've heard, they are still building a new fire station next to jail just not the building. Instead they are going to use the existing old county water building on Hwy 36. Makes a lot of sense to use an existing building if you already have it! Guess time will tell.
