In a surprise move, Shameik Spinks entered a guilty plea Monday in Lamar County superior court to the December 2010 home invasion murder of Danavan Bussey.

These young fellows are in their early 20's, I think? (Notice I didn't refer to them as "men" since that word cannot be applied in this case).
So this one is down, to spend his natural life behind bars. No education, no getting up to go to work and earn a paycheck, no wife and kids, no planning a vacation with the family.
So, this thug life these guys are so enamored of, this is where it leads, I guess.
Is this what you have in mind when you pick up the guns and act tough?
It seems sad and pointless to me. You may as well turn the gun on yourself.

People who sit behind a computer and pass judgement on something they know nothing about are the ones who should shot themselves. Try researching before commenting.

Cassandra, you have further information on this case?
I made a comment based on what I read: that Spinks is now in prison for life probably because he embraced the thug, tough-guy lifestyle and now we see how that's working out for him.
Can you point me to a further source of "research"?
Oh, my goodness! He was really there for Bible study, and he tripped on a throw rug and the gun went off.....I'll bet that's what really happened, isn't it?

this piece of shi@# is going jail and the young man he shot is still dead and will allways be dead!!a mother was robbed of her son by a punk that was never going to amount to anything anyway and never will even if it does get out of jail someday.why is he,or for that matter,any of the sorry garbage that went to that house,that night with guns, have a chance to see the light of day?

The research would be the background of the person u passing judgement on. The south is so full of ignorant bias individuals with to many opinions. Being a thug and living a thug life is the opposite of Spinks. Being young stupid and making terribly wrong choices is him all day. Rebelling, having misplaced anger , along with the interest of guns and criminal behavior is how he lands in this situation. Some children u tell the stove is hot it will burn if u touch it so don't ever touch the stove ok.....then they never touch the stove. Some children will have to see for sure if u telling the truth in which they end up getting burned in the process. Well that's my child Shameik Spinks. A military brat a suburban child. Just moving here with me to be closer to family because we never have and he just met these people and neither is his cousin. So the media and everyone else is wrong. Standing up and admitting his guilt and taking responsibility for his actions is the part I raised. Apologizing to the family and making no excuses is what I raised. Asking God forgiveness and everyday showing u were worth saving cause that blast could have went the other way is what I raised. There are no innocent victims in this whole case. That was a drug house and the people in there knew what kind of people they were hanging with so the possibility of those types things could happen. There should be more arrest than three people. So many laws were broken that day/night. I have heart felt remorse for the family. It's my understanding that she lost another son the same way. Both children sold drugs and were killed by gun fire. So looks like she had two of the stove touching children as well. Enough said thank u for your time. U can keep the smart comments I'm not really interested in those.

I'm sorry for your loss in this, Ms. Gordon. It sounds like you were trying to be helpful to this young man & were ignored.
Again, he faces life in prison for his bad choices and another young man is dead.
There will be more prison sentences handed down.
I still call "thug lifestyle". Nothing good comes from it.
Hope you can find some peace.

Thank u I do have peace now it most definitely been a long time since I did. I see my son face again been a few years I been wondering who is this child. He came back to my child to late for the life I would have for him. But he still have life and it's over when God say. So he still have time to make amends to the Bussy family and to himself.

You, on the other hand, don't even live in Barnesville/Lamar county and yet you troll these articles and try to instigate controversy anywhere and everywhere you can. I usually do not get into BLOG BS.. But reading your response has made me want to get my 2 cents in. No.. I do not live in George. But as a LAW STUDENT I have read the case and I do know part of the family. Also, I have known Dan (Bussey) for years. I know about the text messages (from the girls and from your son (yes there should have been more arrest and MORE TIME))) and I understand you loving your child. But mother to mother, SHUT THE F UP.. I do not care if it was a drug house, a whore because it could have been YOUR HOUSE.. You get to see your son.. ALIVE and WELL. Dan’s family has a grave to visit because of your CHILD. YOUR SEED!! No, you have no high school graduation, No weddings, No grandkids (you know of) but you have a CHANCE.. WHERE IS DAN’S CHANCE??? OH YOUR SON TOOK IT!!!! So the apple (usually does not fall far from the tree, and being a military dependant myself.. Association brings on Assimilation). Just an FYI.. There was not another child killed from the mother or father’s side. DAN WAS THE ONLY ONE FROM YOUR SON!!! BTW.. How many times did you show up to court? NONE!!! The next could be civil case to your family (2-3 are possible (since are so happy to say your family (EX-HUSBAND) were part of the US Armed Force as was Dan’s)). I GUESS… JUST LIKE YOUR SON SAID “IT WAS SETTLED, LIKE UP NORTH”. Guess he is not in Delaware anymore.. As his mother why did you send him away to Bonnie Banks house? So u were in the house and u know for sure who was holding that shotgun. No u shut the f@&k up cause u don't. When I say military brat I'm referring to my mother so keep researching. Looks like u need more research because I never wanted him in Barnesville. He had help getting and staying in this area. He has a home and that's where I wanted him to be. Taking the plea was the only outlet in this matter cause the justice system here do as they please but I am sure the truth will surface as it always does. U can try to clean that house up all u want the facts are the facts. So pick your mic back up honey cause u are far from a check. Or would u rather just shut the f@&k up. So funny how everyone wants to hide behind that computer too. U have no idea about me nor my child for that matter. Simple fact if u did u definitely would go sit down and shut up. I am not going back and forth with you it would be asinine. No, I was not in the house (nor you).
I have a son and as much as I would love to say what he would or would not do; he is 18 years old (about to leave for college) and I pray that he makes wise choices (so far, so good). I sleep every night with peace knowing he is home every night. Homework is done, his chores are done and failure is NOT AN OPINION. Yes… I am a single mother(37yrs old). I put myself through school (2 B.A., 1 Masters and now for my JD.), bought my home, married, divorced and raising 3 kids. Kids that I pray leave home to attend college and able to come back without meeting people like the people that came into that house Dec 2010.
I am not hiding behind my computer Ms. Gordon. My name is Virginia (I work for Homeland Security in Washington, DC). I would give you my address and phone number but as you see what my career is I do not mingle with certain elements.

If u didnt want to go back and forth u would never reply hypocritical of u to make that statement. If u were a true lover of people and defend those removed who can't defend themselves u would do it in a different method. Not once have I disrespect that family. I only stated the truth of the house being a drug house. That's a known fact. U are homeland security and u have no idea how far my matriculation goes shame on u.

So keep your credentials and your family makeup because it changes nothing about what this situation is speaking of. Pray that neither of your children have to go thru this type of ordeal with such a judgmental and lover of self mother that they have. U came in on a lovely cordial conversation I enjoyed and appreciated with Cats for what. Just to show u know nothing of what u speak. U have no idea where I reside nor the amount of times I've appeared in court. Since I stay quiet and to myself so the media have no idea who I am. Only court dates I missed were not important. They were continuance. Where in the world is George. We don't live in George either. A child headed to college at age 37 wow teenage pregnancy at its best I see. So u say in your next blog that I didn't say he was holding the shotgun. Yes u did cause u repeatly stated he took his life. I'm most certain u do not mingle with my elements from your two post. Our elements would not even consider a person who speaks before knowing. To even reply is going back and forth so guess who is asinine. If anyone is looking for anyone it is you seeing as you tracked down this old post of mine. Maybe you just came out of a drunken stupor?
